I love C-dramas, but I would provide a genre for the dramas u listed. e.g. Fluff, fantasy, etc.. -- Some are Very Popular, cute and fluffy, but not to everyone's liking (I didn't like Boss&Me or Love O2O or M.A.B.) -- Chinese do romance very well, usually idealized love, but realistic development, and passionate kisses (LoveO2O is the exception w/ frozen female)... -- Many Perfect male leads: He YiChen in My Sunshine, Wei WuJi and/or MoXun in Sound of the Desert, maybe Ye Hua in Eternal Love... all by excellent actors: Wallace Chung, Eddie Peng, Hu Ge, Mark Chao, etc... -- Strong Female Leads, usually in Historicals and Wuxia genres! -- They are best at historicals and at Wuxia ... no Wuxia listed above, but very important part of C-dramas . -- Sound of the Desert --- is one my all-time faves !! ..... It is an excellent historical , yet it is very easy to get into for beginners b/c very little palace intrigue .... Great romance w/ lots of angst & passion. Thnx for the article, I just got into them and am addicted .... at first I thought they're like telenovellas, full of romance and melodrama .... but a friend referred me to good ones ..... Yes, they are long, w/ several seasons, so sometimes can get draggy ... but they are very good. I like that the characters are well developed and have realistic growth.
