The bright green down hoodie sounds ideal, I need one!

When you have to walk around in sub-freezing temperatures , a down-filled padded coat becomes your best friend!

But I don't understand them in K-dramas .... K-dramas have an obsession w/ coats, and characters rarely wear the same coat twice, no matter how poor they are !!! ....
They also go to bed in their coats !!!! .... Well, they often go to bed in their street clothes ...
They need more pajama company sponsors, and less coat advertisements in their dramas :P

You did not mention the crown prince of B. and Danta Princess separately as a couple , I thought both characters and actors boring .... Yes, they are the complete opposite of our leads - u found them a refreshing change... I, however, cannot find appeal in their characters, they personify qualities I dislike.

Num was smoldering indeed, the romantic-at-heart scary King of Kasik .... Nat very regal, wonderful descriptions of both ....

I just finished replying to ur other comment above .... I thought u were unfamiliar w/ the story and came back to edit my comment ...LOL

The history of the yang's and their contribution to the country is fact ... I read there are different accounts about what happened to 4th son (and his relationship w/ the Liangs) , and 3rd son ... but in all, 6th gets w/ the princess (I think) and 7th gets in a brawl w/ Pan Bao, and his ending w/ the arrows is fact ...
Anyway, I think in history 6th survives and enters politics.

So each version is worth watching for all the various focuses.....
I would love to watch the HK 80's w/ my favorite HK stars , they were my first love in East Asia , about same time I got into Japanese classics.

P.S. I was reading comments below and forgot about parents triangle .... I don't remember 4th's triangle, unless it is Princess of Liang.

I liked the older C-drama, Warriors of the Yang Clan, a bit more than YW - different focus, but the story is better written than here ..... YW is eye candy, its strength is its characters , romances, focus on family and wonderful actors.

I'm on the fence about Ye Lu Xie getting the girl ... she seemed to like him back (such a gorgeous a romantic brute, who wouldn't.. lol) ... but I don't like this typical chinese stereotype of the stupidly stubborn and feisty female.
I love the Princess and Liu Lang/son6 (Hu Ge <3) ... their relationship is fun, personalities match ... and the triangle was never a threat to them.

btw, Peter Ho <3 is hot! ... I like story of Si Lang/son4 in this version , not the same in other versions ....

Your evaluation so far sounds interesting, and may tempt me to return to K-dramas (I'll wait til the end tho and see reaction then) ... happy my first love , Jang Hyuk, is not hammy here - he had started getting lazy last few years, recycling the same character.

They changed both Wallace and Ying'er! .... good, I no longer have to feel bad for Wallace .... I may still watch b/c mafia plots are good ;)

LOL ... 2 are minor, no angst ... only Ye Lu Xie's is angsty , but he's too good for her ... Ye Lu Xie is my fave here.... a wonderful villain ;)
I don't usually mind love triangles (sometimes they generate loads of angst which I love) ...

He's underrated .... loved him in his older work , most especially in Tree of Heaven .... I won't even try to watch his newer work, his changed looks throw me off.

I am not at all surprised he's a graduate of art school, his creative sense shows in his fashion and his tastes. .... His music is the final affirmation of his artistic and deep sensibility. I have never seen a Korean Rock group before (not that I look for them :P) .... All members of Walrus look and sound Japanese ... I just listened to the 3 songs and love their pure Rock sound (I agree, "Mozaic" and "To Be" are superior)...
I agree his choice of characters are usually the most interesting ... more proof for your conjecture.
Besides his talent, he's always beautiful to look at, but you have made me respect his artistry, his integrity and his bravery in pursuing his passions his way.

‘the cheekbones of Korea’...LOL.... Well, he IS one of the most beautiful Asian actors ! ... (IMO, it is his eyes and hair that give him the edge over others.)

Actually, I do like Mik's acting ! .... just that here, my first time seeing him , I was not impressed .... but he did a good job as Daniel, since Daniel is stoic and terse .... always a difficult thing to portray.
I did not believe in the love of Daniel & Fasai, but it's the writing, not Mik's fault !
