it gets better. the early and mid twenties episodes have a LOT of the villains talking/planning/but not actually DOING anything much, so they dragged a bit. but it does start to pick up again in late 20s episodes.

they've both mentioned that they're nothing like their onscreen characters (1% similarity for GJ lol).

i do the same, haha. i watch it with vietsubs the day each episode comes out, but will still rewatch with english subs later. it's very interesting how the subs in the two languages sometimes differ with each other. vietsubs sometimes tend to stick closer to the literal translations of certain words.

same... what is "satisfactory"? plus, does the writer gets to choose which ending shows up out of the multiple ones they filmed? GJ was deliberately ambiguous when he answered regarding the ending in one of his interviews... and ZZH said that HE isn't a requirement for him. those two really terrified me, haha.

same for me. i rarely start dramas before they finish airing, because 95% of the times, i get bored in the middle while waiting and never finish. WOH is the only drama so far that managed to make me tune in every day (then every Tuesday/Friday) for new episodes. it's definitely not perfect and there are plenty of issues, but emotionally, it's gotten me hard. as long as the finale & the ending are satisfactory (The Untamed type of ending at the very very least) -- i'll be happy.

episode 27 is my favorite one so far! i've rewatched it at least half a dozen times now. they're both self-sacrificing idiots for each other. it also showcases ZZS' love and devotion so well, it made me swoon.

Yes, this!! Ugh, I watch and rewatch so many of these scenes for ZZS, because when he loves, he's all in but in the healthiest and best way possible, imo. ZZS doesn't only care about WKX's physical safety, but also his emotional one, too. Whereas WKX, maybe due to his past, is focused too much on ZZS' physical well being -- but he isn't quite fully capable of giving ZZS the same type of emotional yet. Though he tries! Like with him restoring the painting in 4 Seasons Manor.

I just need a happy ending for them, too. They deserve it. The fact that they filmed multiple endings still makes me so so nervous.

EP 33 SPOILER. throughout the series, it was ZZS who did the trusting even when being kept in the dark, while WKX couldn't learn to reveal all of himself to ZZS. this could've been a good opportunity for the writer to show that WKX did learn to depend on ZZS instead of just himself, but alas.

however, i do think what WKX did was in line with his character: he's always shouldering everything, either to keep ZZS safe or to so that ZZS doesn't find out. that said, i hope WKX suffers and panics over ZZS for at least 1-2 episodes after what he pulled... >.<

i'm still hoping the last 4 episodes are good and there's no more of editing/flow problems.

i watched a few episodes of Doulou purely for XZ and couldn't finish... XZ was good, but the beginning of the story was amateurish and the female lead was annoying at best.

it's a guess right now! recent episodes hint at future betrayal. however, we don't know for sure if scorpion was involved in WKX's fall (as part of a betrayal plot against Zhao Jing) -- many think that it is.

completely OT, but i'm just overwhelmed with love for ZZS, so i just want to say here that he's such an amazing character. he's not a saint; he's made many mistakes and he definitely has 2000 layers of grey. however, he's a genuinely good person who strives to be better.

WKX might be a master of flirting, but ZZS is actually the straightforward one between the two of them: he decided to choose WKX and believe in him -- and he wasn't afraid of letting WKX know that, even if he knew WKX was still hiding form him.

he's righteous. he could've just left Widow of Heaven, but he intentionally gave himself the 7 Nails because he didn't want to be the only one NOT to suffer the consequences of leaving.

he's patient, too, and isn't pushy. he didn't push CL about his stomach "wound" at beginning of the drama (even though he probably figured it out). he also didn't push WKX about his Ghost Valley Master identity. he just silently protects both of them when he can, and just give them a home to return -- even if that home is himself.

there are so many good things about him. i know he's done bad deeds and thus a grey character, much like the outfits he wears. but i can't help but really fell for him and think he's really the best character in the series.

i do think after the Longyuan Cabinet arc, there was so many instances of ZZS showing WKX love though: in ep 22 when WKX fainted and him calling out Shen Shen on WKX's behalf and chasing him away, then ZZS telling WKX in 4 seasons manor that this can be WKX's home to return to, and then in ep 27 when ZZS took a shortcut to meet YBY to fight him to the death so that YBY wouldn't be able to kill WKX.

ZZS' love isn't all loud flirting words like WKX -- but that's not his personality. he's more of the type to show love through actions: by respecting WKX's wishes, offering him a home, and standing by WKX's side through thick and thin. i actually appreciate this type of love a lot more.

ZZS is actually my favorite character in the drama -- i love how patient and understanding and just genuinely kind but also realistic. i'm glad i'm not seeing the ZZS hate tweets on my timeline, they'd probably made me too upset.

i guess i'm a bit divided in my opinion of how the writer treated ZZS character: i actually love her writing of his character/his lines (it helps that ZZH did an amazing job with his acting), but i do feel she could've done more with his actual character arc.

my one complaint with this drama is the fact that they spent wayyy too much time on the side characters, especially Xie Er/Scorpion and Zhao Jing. i know some viewers like them. but i really could not muster too much investment in their storyline/relationship -- and it seems in recent episodes, they got as much story time as Wenzhou, imo... yet, despite all that time invested into the villains, the 1st showdown battle in ep 32 was still poorly planned and executed and felt out of place.

that said, i am still enjoying this drama. even plot wise, it's better than most wuxia/xianxia dramas i've watched. unfortunately, it's not the "perfect" drama as i would like it to be. but there are still 4 episodes left. as long as the ending doesn't disappoint, i am willing to forget a little bumps on the way there, as the ride itself has been wonderful.

to be fair, the jin wang storyline is more than what's in the novel (which was... non-existent). however, i do wish they had done more build-up for that prior, though not necessarily prolonging the actual arc itself.

yeah. possibly, some time had happened in between. but to be honest, my problem was more of the fact that the battle seemed to appear out of nowhere... and there was no build up of any sort. the writer could've taken time to make things flow better.

it feels like episodes 21-28 were dragged on with too many scenes of the villains scheming -- and yet everything seemed to happen in ep 31-32 way too quickly without build up. :/ i love the wenzhou scenes in ep 31-32, but it sucks that the pacing/editing around these 2 episodes are so lacking. they could've been amazing.

same! it's been a very very very long time since i was this engrossed in a drama. there are many things that could be improved, but the most important thing: the characters and their relationships, are done so so well. it's keeping me engrosses. 36 episodes feel too little now.
