Zhang ZheHan ah, Zhang ZheHan, I’m so thankful to have you acting as ZZS; otherwise I don’t even what type…
i sort of do agree with this. i love the series so far, and tbh i've suffered through so many badly written wuxia/xianxia dramas that this is actually not that bad in comparison.
however, it definitely seems to have been turned into a WKX series rather than ZZS. it's become a WKX revenge story. tbh, i try to see this as a wenzhou drama where both of them are equally the main characters, it makes it a bit better. it's not like The Untamed, where it was a WWX series with LWJ the male lead/support for him. i really do wish they had given ZZS himself more of a storyline, though -- at this point, i was even all for playing up his Seven Nails a bit more (and i don't say that lightly).
that said, ZZH is absolutely AMAZING. he seriously sold ZZS for me. i think the writer did a good job at writing the ZZS' character and ZZH was very good at bringing him to life. however, they definitely could've tried to give him more of an arc, i agree. i don't know if it's because if there wasn't as much of one in the novel? or what... or that most of what ZZS in the novel went through was more internal?
ep 32 was... i liked it. but they really could've used more build up. :/ everything just seemed to... happen. and the fight scene was disappointing...
zhang zhehan acts as the more stereotypically "wife" character in woh. they also find him really beautiful. here's…
sorry, OT, but i just watched that video and gosh, ZZH is so gorgeous as ZZS. he's seriously other-worldly. he's so soft and sharp at the same times, and he has the most beautiful smile. wow.
I'm triply cursed:D Android user, my phone's incompatible with youku app and my TV doesn't even acknowledge it's…
do you have a friend or family with an iphone? i created a youku account on my laptop, then asked someone who has an iphone to log into my account to buy VIP subscription for me. i've been watching on my laptop. hope you can find a way!
You guys/gals are great in interpret every dialogues and motives of every characters in WOH, truly impressive.…
in episode 27, WKX said that his fault in the downfall of CL's sect is due to him spreading the 2nd verse to the nursery rhyme hinting that the 5 Lakes Alliance has the Glazed Armor, thus making them the targets of greedy people. he mentioned that though he didn't directly destroy CL's sect, what he did to them is no different than what 5 Lakes Alliance did to his parents. he didn't do it, but he WANTED it: for the "righteous" people to kill each other over greed.
in terms of actual role in destroying CL's sect: no, he has no role in it. even WKX himself does not know if the people who killed CL's sect were defected ghosts (who killed w/o his permission) or if they were someone else who killed then threw the blame on Ghost Valley. i think in reality, it was done by ZJ / Scorpion, but WKX still held himself responsible.
in the end, i don't think he's genuinely responsible, because the Scorpion/ZJ already knew about the Glazed Armor anyways. but that said, the world is unfair. :/ everybody thinks that Ghost Valley are evil. like YBY said, it doesn't matter if WKX himself did the deed. since he's the leader of Ghost Valley, he is responsible for all the evil deeds all 3000 ghost do (which makes no sense to me...).
you can watch English subs ep 15-25 on Youku by paying for VIP. :)
yes, it's an app! but you can also access it through the website youku.com -- though to buy internationally, it's easier to do so through the youku app using Apple Pay.
The featured article about this show described one of the main characters as a villain but based on what they…
i don't think either main character is a "villain." more like anti-hero. both main characters are morally grey and have done "bad" things, so to speak. however, i don't think they're "happy" with their actions: one does it out of duty and regrets his actions and seeks penance/changes his life in the 1st episode, the other does it because he genuinely believes the people he's fighting are the "bad" guys and NOT innocent. i don't think either character harms other just for the fun of it.
WKX looked so vulnerable and scared. Meanwhile, ZZS was like...no biggie bro. I LOVE ZZH's jaw line in this scene.
we don't know for sure. however, in episode 22, when WKX snuck up on ZZS at the lake, and they were discussing the Long-tongued Ghost -- ZZS deliberately asked WKX about the Long-tongued Ghost in a very particularly pointed and teasing way. in episode 23, after WKX fainted, ZZS asked A Xiang: "When did WKX get 'there'?" 'There' referring to where WKX and A Xiang grew up.
so he has known since then, but he never really gave any indication of it. i think ZZS is very smart, and he's guessed from WKX's actions and reactions and his background (or lack thereof). however, he did not want to force WKX to say it.
I'm a bit confused here. Just checked the episode, the VIP Eng subs are still until Ep 24. But the Chinese version…
i don't think advance purchase is available for Eng subs, only chinese raws at the moment. new VIP episode with Eng subs seems to be uploaded at same time as Youtube episodes (7pm cst) -- while chinese VIP seems to be released at 6pm cst. so 1 hr behind. this is what i'm guessing from looking at the releases for today.

i do agree with this. i am satisfied with the drama so far. however, i do wish there could have been more of a focus on ZZS, as he is technically the main character. but thus far, he's been more of an observer -- someone who goes around and uncovers things happening around him, rather than being affected by things himself. ZZS really has no personal "stake" in what's going on at the moment, aside from the fact that the 2 people he loved are involved (Cheng Ling and then WKX). i wish, too, that they had included more Tian Chuang and/or the whole subplot with ZZS going back to Jin Wang (?) earlier. or focus more on ZZS losing his sense, like you said.
i actually love ZZS more than WKX (though i love both). i actually do feel a strong connection to him. he's such an intricate character, one you don't see often in dramas. he's smart, and because of what he's been through, he has a less black & white view of the world. but a lot of what's going on with him is internal. the writer is trying to go for subtlety (which i absolutely love), but maybe it's too subtle to the point where ZZS' emotions and tribulations aren't being shown "enough."
i don't know if this is the problem with the novel itself? it was probably easier to work in this kind of internalization with written words vs acting. if that's the case, perhaps it would've been appropriate to add subplots focusing more on ZZS.
It's said on MDL main page that the drama will end this weak ? How ?? it's up to 25 episode VIP and it's 36 episodes…
it will end next Tuesday (3/23) -- VIP can buy the last 4 episodes on that day, while regular VIP who don't pay will have to wait until the end of next week to finish.
i absolutely adore this drama, but i really really wish the supporting cast, especially the villains, didn't get nearly as much screentime as they did.
i love watching a xiang & her lover, so their journey for me isn't the problem. however, recently, almost every episode, half and sometimes more than half the episode are scenes of the Scorpion/his adopted son/other Ghost Valley ghosts -- and it's just dampening the watching experience for me. i do love fleshed out antagonists and i know they're there to advance the plot, so i don't mind SOME scenes. i do realize that the original novel was very short, thus the writer needs to pad out the drama. but it's just. i just wish most of the scenes were wenzhou or a xiang.
