i'd really rather not. no offense to thai BL fans, but i've watched a few thai BL dramas, and they've all been drama-filled with no subtlety and no substance. they're very good at creating very hot and spicy BL dramas, but for me, i prefer subtlety. ZZH and GJ are doing an AMAZING job giving us a flirty but deep and beautiful relationship. i really cannot imagine this drama being nearly as good in Thai (though i'm sure there'd be a lot more physical scenes).

i also agree! the crew and cast did such an amazing job on this drama. it came out of nowhere and really took us all by pleasant surprise.

i totally agree! i love both WKX and ZZH, but ZZH especially has grown so much on me. i wasn't sure if i'd like him at first (i actively didn't like him in episode 1). but through the course of the drama, he became more caring and lively, and he even teases WKX. he's soooo smart, but he also respects WKX's choice and decisions. he's just. he's the best, really.

he's a very old and very strong martial artist -- he's of the generation before ZZS' shifu's generation. however, he was able to retain his youth, almost immortality, due to a specific kind of martial arts/technique he practices (which includes living in a specific place/eating specific thing, etc.). he gave ZZS' shifu the sword. he's basically the only one stronger than WKX right now, in terms of power (i think). (there are other background for him that will come out later on.)

can you try to access it through VPN? i was able to access region blocked dramas on weTV before through VPN, so maybe try to see if that will work with Youku too.

ugh, i'm so sorry this happened to you. i got spoiled pretty badly by youtube comments too. and am learning to just not read them now. :( i hope you'll still enjoy the drama.

i've also watched the latest episodes, but in vietnamese subs. in vietnam, there's "chinese-vietnamese" language (which is has a lot of literal translations from chinese), which does retain some of the flavor of the shixiong/shidi from chinese -- though to me, it's still not brothers.

i do understand if some chinese fans are against it, though! i do wonder if they're against it because it's not in the novel or if they genuinely dislike the relationship/interaction between ZZS and WKX after the reveal. even though i have different opinion, i am definitely curious. i really hope i'm not leading you astray though! haha, i'm very curious to see how you feel after watching though! definitely let me know. :)

yes, this! WKX was putting on a mask to the world -- only it's one with flirtations and self-grandiose rather than a physical mask like ZZS. but as times go on, we get to see the real WKX and it's such a treat.

i think the script writer asked the production team to cast someone with "puppy eyes" for WKX and seriously GJ is the perfect casting choice!

i think people don't understand that shixiong/shidi isn't actually "brothers." they're merely disciples of the same sect, that's it. it hits ZZS a bit more because all of his sect is gone -- so it's like finding a small beacon of hope that his sect can be revived. him hugging WKX is more of a reaction finding out about WKX's unhappy past, imo.

(literally in 2Ha, Mo Ran fell for his shixiong Shi Mei and then married his shifu Chu Wanning... them being shixiong/shidi matters not at all.)

you're not crazy at all! the last time i felt this way was for The Untamed, but i caught it at the end of the airing, so following SHL the past weeks has been amazing experience. every morning, i literally just wake up, watch SHL, go to work, look at SHL during lunch, go home and watch more SHL until i fall asleep, lol. i've rewatched all episodes at least 2x, sometimes 3-4 times -- and that's very very rare for me. i don't see this going away for a while.

it just means that SHL is that amazing, to be able to evoke such emotions in all of us.

yeah, it's really unfortunately. they're trying to milk money out of fans, but since VIP is ending soon in late March/April, it'd be nice if they would let the regular release come out more quickly. :( maybe wait until the drama finishes airing to watch the rest? but it's really really hard to stay away from spoilers, like you've mentioned. i just hope Youku is aware that 2Ha is coming out soon, and react accordingly (i.e. give us the rest of this drama). unfortunately, most C-ent companies only care about Chinese fans... :/

unfortunately, it's going to be until May. however, there are rumors of other BL dramas coming out in April/May. so perhaps this will cause Youku to accelerate the upload frequency to avoid losing fans. let's pray.

i think you mentioned above you haven't seen past the english episodes yet (english is my preferred language and i really wish youku would allow us to pay for VIP english eps ;___;). but i hope you'll also be satisfied with the change in their relationship when you get there!

tbh, i don't deny that their relationship HAS changed. and i can see how, if people are attracted to their relationship due to WKX's flirty personality & his pursue of ZZS, they might not like this change. personally, i do love both their initial relationship as well as their current one (and hopefully their future one as well if it continues to change by end of the show). but everybody's mileage may vary.

hm, i can't really tell in terms of the plot. i do think the plot slowed down a bit in the recent episodes -- but it's more the calm before the storm. the characters are having a "peaceful" moment right now. however, things are coming that will lead them to the climax. i personally think the drama is doing well! there are things that can be improved upon, and i do think some episodes lag. but overall, it's much better than most dramas in the mid-point mark!

i have watched the episodes and i am definitely not disappointed.

their relationship matured. it's getting into the angst territory, and it's impossible to have a flirty/fun relationship throughout the drama. to me, it's the difference between newlyweds vs old married couples. the characters are developing a deeper relationship as they get to know each other -- and thus they don't have to rely on flirtations between strangers anymore, but can have heart-to-hearts now. that doesn't mean they don't have cute and sweet moments. :)

(i am also of the opinion that the shixiong/shidi relevation doesn't change things much. from episodes 17-19, before the relevation, you could already see how their relationship changed -- how ZZS is slowly becoming more caring towards WKX. i see it more as a continuation and deepening of that.)

i sorta disagree a bit regarding the 1st point (though i see where you're coming from). ZZS and WKX relationship changed because they went from strangers to acquaintances to friends to soulmates. even before ZZS found out about the shixiong/shidi connection, he was already behaving more like a "senior" and taking care of him (for example, the way he took care of WKX when he was drunk/telling him to go to bed, etc).

to me, i feel like their relationship has changed just due to ZZS slowly coming to accept WKX as a person and loving him. the only difference i see with the new connection is the fact that ZZS is grateful to have "found" another person of his sect even though he thought he'd destroyed everything of 4 Seasons Manor already.

i do miss the cheeky and flirty WKX from the beginning, but i attribute that to the fact that we're getting to a more serious portion of the plot. WKX is going through a lot more internal/external troubles than ZZS. he was initially flirty and pursued ZZS without true motivations/direction. however, now, he doesn't think he is worthy of ZZS because of who he is. i believe his change is reflective of this more than anything else.

tbh, i guess i am also biased, because i do love the reciprocation that ZZS is giving WKX now -- when he's in, he's all in -- but he doesn't force WKX, he's not naggy: he basically offers WKX his home and his heart, but leaves it up to WKX to come to him when WKX is ready. it really shows the maturity of their relationship to me, and that's what different from many dramas' one-dimensional relationship of one person forever being the pursuer, and the other being pursued.

(sorry, i didn't mean to write so much! i totally get where you're coming from and can see the changes myself, but i guess i look at their relationship and characters in a different view, and thus have a different take on it. just want to throw out my 2 cents. :))

ah, okay, so she contributed her face. good to know that CJ's love for someone can be sustained by their pretty face -- nevermind personalities are totally different. very admirable type of love there.

even if SY's soul was in the body, she didn't really do much for 20 episodes. it was all BH. she just showed up at the end to reap the rewards without doing anything... she wasn't the one CJ fell for.
