I want to come back to EP2's salary.Mhok gets 55 000 THB/month. His working hours are Monday-Saturday (=6 days),…
I too did the calculation to USD. With 1.5k/mo USD, assuming he has his motorcycle paid off already, and he lives in an inexpensive area of Bangkok, he should have plenty of money to cover all his expenses and have a ton to spare. As you said, he gets fringe benefits, such as food and it seems like room amd board (lol). He does have to pay for gas, but i assume thats not too costly.
Its not useful to calculate hourly rate. Its best to look at the living wage. I did not look it up, but having considered travel to Thailand and even living there, i can assure you that money is more than enough for a local to live like a local.
Uuhhhh nope!! No no! You lost me when he started molesting his friend at class .... Whatever story you want to…
This comment needs to be down voted. There is absolutely no SA in this. Its just two guys silently communicating their desires via non verbal cues. I think anyone who is gay can understand these cues.

All fair points. But I shall be the eternal optimist and continue thinking they will do a good job... until it airs. Then we will see.... :O
Progress being 14 can be an issue. I admit that in the clips he hasn't come off too strongly. He is almost a mirror image of Season 1 Captain and not in a good way.
It is possible that by the time this airs, they will have workshopped this to death and they will be much better. Again, maybe that is the optimist in me. We shall see!

...and you still don't understand what I am saying, but that's fine. As I said, its my interpretation. A good piece of art can be interpreted in different ways. No single way is correct.
90% of thai bl series are just fluffy cutesy romance with smack smack smack. you have wayyyyy too many choices.…
I know that. What I am saying is that they are using all that as an allegory of what gay bulling looks like.
Thai BLs do this a lot. Like in Bad Buddy you get Pran and Pat hiding their relationship like young closeted gay men do but it was because their parents and friends didn't get along. I think its called "coded". So, in The Sign, the character of Phaya is coded as gay. Of course, that is just my opinion.
One of my main questions is how far and how close will this ver be to the og love sick. I need it to address the…
I agree. The OG series is MAGICAL. I love it so much. I don't know why people can't see past the rough directing and the low budget quality. This is simply one of the best love stories ever. It is simple but so beautiful :)
The original Love Sick season 1 was my first BL Thai show ever, and I really enjoyed it until they ruined everything…
They also will tell the story of Ohm and Mick and Per and Win, so they are not sticking to just the novel. I hope they hire a good writer and work with the original writer of this story (Indrytimes) to craft a really good story for those characters (which are technically her characters).
Love Sick might have been my first BL - I can't remember if it was that or SOTUS. But I do remember being bored…
Well, times have changed. After Love Sick, we did get Love by Chance with a 17 year old Perth kissing and making out with a much older Saint. So, I don't know that their age will be an issue.
As far as it being boring like the original, I doubt it. They have an opportunity to improve. If they stick to the main story told in the book, I think it will be very good. They can probably do it in 1 season, maybe if they do 18 episodes.
The acting doesn't need professional actors. They just need a good director. Gemini and Fourth did pretty good in Moonlight Chicken and they were pretty much two newbies and both were pretty young. I think Fourth was 17 and Gemini was 18.
Never liked Love Sick (bad acting and directing, let's be honest) but I'll be watching this, hoping these kids…
:( I love Love Sick. I don't think it was perfect, but the story is pure gold. And Captain's acting improves a lot. Actually, so many good BL actors came from Love Sick: Gameplay, Captain, Ngern, Sing, Na, Gunsmile, Toptap... I especially like Captain and Gameplay's 10 seconds are pretty good. Sing and Captain improve a lot. Ngern was always good. Na is pretty natural. Toptap is decent. White also improves but he never gets better than average.

I forgot to mention that Phaya getting constantly teased by the other guys feels very much like they are treating him like he is gay. He is getting gay bullied. But again, the presentation is not really very direct. It is almost an insinuation.

Well, I am sorry to say, even if I don't agree with his main thesis, he does have a point. BLs derive from Yaoi and Yaoi has a very specific formula. I do think this series conforms to the BL genera, but that's because I have a much nuanced definition of BL than he does, but a lot more strict than your definition. BL is not GAY or QUEER cinema/series. BL is very different.
This is a BL because the main characters are straight-acting men who have no real reason to be together other than the writer wanting them to be together LOL Also, they have no previous history of being gay or liking men, at least not at the moment. And that fall and kiss was 100% pure BL fantasy. Because Saint is involved, we are getting some gay characters (the side couple?) and it feels like both leads are gay, but I think the presentation is a bit ambiguous: we haven't heard the male leads talk about having male exes, or dating guys in the past. We will see, but I am guessing that they will either leave it ambiguous or they will not address this at all.
I have always defined BL as gay romance which is not queer-centric. I think BL is starting to evolve and it is becoming more queer-aware (eg. almost anything that comes out of Aof production team). For a great example of what queer-aware BL looks like, look no farther than Gameboys or anything from the 2020s Philippines.
I feel like I rambled a bit. I hope I made sense. :)
You haven't watched The Shipper. It has a sad ending. Also, He's Coming To Me has a bittersweet ending. Not exactly…
No. He was in a purgatory, and they didn't spend "equal time" with the straight couple. I think the only reason people don't consider it a BL is because it was one of those body swap stories. Most of the story was spent with First and Ohm, but First was playing a girl inside a boys body. The rest of the time was spent in the Fluke-First story, in which First was still playing a girl trapped in a boy's body, but Fluke was in love with him (or her?). Then towards the end of the story we realize that Fluke's character had been in love with First's character before the body swap happened. He was gay, alright.
We are led to believe that the boy will come back to his own body and things will end up happily for everyone, until the very end. One of the last scenes is Fluke's character professing his love for First's character and it always makes me cry.
Anyway, for me, it was a BL. All the BL elements are there. And it was marketed as a BL.
Have you watched He's Coming To Me? That one is a BL with a bittersweet ending. The characters end up together but their eventual fate is pretty much not good. :O
GMM BLs never had a sad ending (to my knowledge). We are already bawling every episode so if they wanna make HIStory…
You haven't watched The Shipper. It has a sad ending. Also, He's Coming To Me has a bittersweet ending. Not exactly super happy, but not real sad either.
I think this aged badly haha The 2 one is way worse and Zeke is TRASH
Well, I asked for no Ms. Becky, Jelai or Chuckchuk but I know for a fact that 2 of those 3 did get into S2. So, I don't think my comment aged badly. :O :)
I will be the bearer of bad news and tell you that Mork and Mhok and Mok are all the same word, หมอก can…
I am a Japanese learner too. I am also feeling like I know almost nothing, and I probably have or used to have a larger vocabulary in Japanese than in Thai. However, what I think help me progress a bit faster in Thai is that Thai is a bit easier than Japanese (except the tones!) and that I have used a bunch of different things to help me. But I think the biggest has been that I force myself to read and I look up meanings and listen to words. I think language learning has to be tackled from different angles. You have to force yourself.
I am in Brazil right now and I stupidly refused to learn any Portuguese before coming here thinking I can use my Spanish, which I am fully fluent. However, I found that my laziness has costed me as its making communication difficult. Next time I come here, I will be more prepared and I will learn some words in Portuguese. Anyway, just here a couple of days and I have picked up a few words and that has already helped a lot in my communication with the native speakers at restaurants and other places.
Sometimes, you just have to force yourself or be forced to learn it!

They are the same. I actually don't like Mhok. The h is not pronounced and is just a tone marker. I think Mok is more correct.
(It is one of the hardest things in Thai that I still don't fully understand, but the Thai O and Thai H can be in front of a consonant cluster and they affect the tone of that consonant, so in a way they are like tone markers, but not really.)

Hi! Thanks. That is a bit flattering. I am not a Thai speaker. I am a student of Thai ;) Beautiful language and script. I can sort of read Thai and I recognize some words. One way I practice is by reading the names of the actors in the shows intro, so I pay a lot of attention to how the names are written and pronounced. I know how some of them are spelled in Thai. Its a hobby LOL I also love reading the text messages and I do sometimes catch things that are not subbed, like when a character uses Ai as a prefix when texting others. I forget who it was that stored the name of his love interest (love hate) as Ai Hia (you know what that means!) or when someones Mom's calls and you see Mom on the phone. Its kind of cool. It does make me feel a bit accomplished eventhought I can barely read Thai hahahaha
