It snows in Texas and Miami so the idea is not totally out of the ordinary, though it would imply some major climate…
Agreed. I definitely think the issue is the randomness of the AU. There is no consistency. No message. When Star Trek does an AU, there is a unifying theme: a waring race, a society in which men have no rights and woman dominate, etc. Thats the issue here. Its random. There is no point. So yaoi lol
They truly are, he must of watched countless early BL series to master the Gay Panic & run off technique as First…
First and gay panic? Have you seen The Shipper? He is hilarious!
First is hands down the most versatile actor in BL after Gun and Ohm. He can do comedy, could play a Seme, he can play an Uke, play serious and emotional scenes etc.
Asking "is he not a major superstar ?" to imply that he should be happy is to misunderstand the character at the…
The issue I have is with the story about him not having grown up with parents and having to work his whole life. That just doesn't seem to be compatible with being a superstar. At least not in Thailand. There are maybe a handful of Thai actors who did not graduate from one of the elite schools in Thailand. Most of them are fair-skinned rich boys. I can't fathom an orphan at a young age, working the kind of jobs available to teens, getting into acting and having the fair skin necessary to be popular enough to then make a living out of it.
Instead of that made-up sad story, they should have simply said he is lonely and his parents died when he was young and that all he knows is work. That would be credible.
I know this is an alternative universe, but could someone told them that it doesn't snow at plus 20 degrees. Totally…
It snows in Texas and Miami so the idea is not totally out of the ordinary, though it would imply some major climate change is already happening.
I think if they had a bit more imagination, they could have done something better and more credible, but they went the easy way. They could have done grapple or sleet. That would be more credible and equally romantic if done the right way. Snow is probably much easier to fake though.
The scene was OK. I found myself thinking about all the ways it was wrong, but hey, its TV and so I have to suspend disbelief. Overall, it is probably one of the things about the series that least bothers me. LOL
Episode 9:O.K. I'm failing to understand Thai dating culture in this series. I thought they were dating in ep…
It is as though they forgot they are showing us an alternate universe, then they remember and go like, "oh, let's make the birthday cake cotton candy and make up something about birthday wishes". So random.
Like you I am very confused about the relationship status. Are they a couple? Why is Talay so disgusted by Tun's kisses? Is it Uke reticence or is it just that they are not official yet and he is being a dame. LOL IDK
I liked this latest episode, but I find that there is a weakness in how the book was translated into a series: The director's insistence of using the same actors that play Talay and Puen to play Tess and Tun respectively. It really diminished the emotional impact of the scene at the end of Ep 9 and makes it hard to realize the ending intended by the author. These two are falling in love with the person, not the face. When they go back to their universe they will have to get used to the new faces. But by using the same actors, we can't "see" this. It is a shame.
BTW Nolan this is Jose from USA BL Fans ;) I go by reefpicker online. I don't know if you knew. I think I use it also on my Love Sick blog.
So, Puen recognized the hat with the alpaca drawing, absolutely understandable. But why didn't Talay remember…
Puen should have thought, wait this is the dude who gave me the Alpaca hat! Oh, wait. Is this his schtick? Does he just hands out alpaca hats to the boys he likes? :D
For sure this series got off to a rough start, but the plot idea is for sure genious. It's not what I thought…
I don't think they have done the best job of translating it to the screen for sure, but I will reserve judgement until it finishes airing.
The biggest weakness in the translation has been the insistence of using the same actors that play Talay and Puen to play Tess and Tun respectively. It really diminished the emotional impact of the scene at the end of Ep 9 and makes it hard to realize the ending intended by the author. These two are falling in love with the person, not the face. Oh thank god. FINALLY ... someone expresses what i think. While I don't think Bad Buddy is one of the worst ...…
I agree. Bad buddy was great but Cutie Pie was not very good. SCOY was good but the directors style is not for everyone. To me, SCOY is 10x better than Cutie Pie.
You are entitled to your own opinions, but coming here and bashing a show you haven't even watched and criticizing…
You know you are a troll when you use phrases like bite me and end your postings with "deal with it".
I will leave this here for you to digest:
In Internet slang, a troll is a person who posts inflammatory, insincere, digressive, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, with the intent of provoking readers into displaying emotional responses, or manipulating others' perception. Wikipedia
It is called non-linear storytelling, aka nonlinear narrative. It is a thing. Look it up.
I know what you are talking about. I have seen it happen. I am hoping thats not the case. It is possible i will come back here for you guys to do an I told you so dance....
It is called non-linear storytelling, aka nonlinear narrative. It is a thing. Look it up.
I love when I assume it is a HE and not a SHE, who is the director. Bad habit. I blame the fact that I am a Spanish speaker and in Spanish the neutral pronouns are HE/HIM.
It is called non-linear storytelling, aka nonlinear narrative. It is a thing. Look it up.
I agree that it has to be well done. I think it is too early to criticize that it is NOT well done here.
I believe this non-linear storytelling is use to create the feeling of disorientation that the film maker envisions one would feel in the afterlife. Sort of like the Hitchcock Zoom. It is a way a cinematographer uses visual storytelling to create a physical or emotional impact in the viewer.
I guess for me, I don't want to jump the gun too early. A friend of mine, who loves watching BL and knows a lot about movies has told me he thinks this last episode was not well done. He thinks, like you do, that the director is trying to bite more than he can handle.
I say, let's wait. We need more time to know if this was a bad episode, or if it fits into the narrative perfectly but we need to know more of the story to understand it. I think there is nothing wrong if a cinematographer asks his audience to watch something twice. Nothing about the viewing experience confines us to watching it once, does it?
You are entitled to your own opinions, but coming here and bashing a show you haven't even watched and criticizing…
Let's be honest, this is a troll. That's the only reason I said what I said. If she had given a thoughtful opinion about either show, I would have treated her with respect.
Also, to me, this sounds borderline racist: "I feel like the Thais should get their shit together and put out at least one excellent BL again before trying Supernatural shit once more"
All the Thais? Or just the producers of this series? Why lump them all together? Also, the Thais don't owe us anything. We consume what they produce. They can do whatever they want.
Furthermore, this: "But many people here said that about bad buddy, which to me is one of the worst bl's ever made.", denotes a contrarian sob.
If this user had said, "Bad Buddy is Bad", that is clearly a personal opinion based on taste. If they provide evidence, fine. For example, "I didn't like how terribly simplistic the plot was", or "I dislike the way violence was injected into the earlier episodes of the series without proper justification". Totally valid points.
I am OK with people giving opinions, but bashing a series you haven't watched, making borderline racist comments about Thai people and criticizing something just because you know it will generate a response? Hmm, no.
It has been my general experience that when a BL tries to lay a plot as deep, ethereal, and complicated as this…
You are entitled to your own opinions, but coming here and bashing a show you haven't even watched and criticizing all of Thailand for the fact they want to take artistic freedom to the extreme is very bold of you.
I think Bad Buddy is great. Is it the best BL I have watched? No. But it is definitely one of the best.
I think anyone who thinks Bad Buddy is one of the worst BL ever is either a troll or someone with really bad taste, or a lack of common sense. Either way, On Cloud Nine is not for you then. You will not like it.
First is hands down the most versatile actor in BL after Gun and Ohm. He can do comedy, could play a Seme, he can play an Uke, play serious and emotional scenes etc.
And the irony is that he wants to be a vet IRL

I am sticking until the end.
