With only three more episodes left and what feels like so much more to do, I finally understand why people were…
You have a good point but honestly, I doubt they will go for an unsatisfactory ending. I think the only BL I have ever seen do that, with great success, was Love sick. The ending of season 1 of Love Sick really left you wanting more. You get a little satisfaction knowing the boys still like each other but that's it. They don't wrap the story until season 2.
I agree that it would be nice to have a BL where things are left hanging just for once, so long as they follow through with a season 2, I am ok with it.
Up until episode 5 it was indeed very good, the acting and characteristations are still excellent and the production…
I keep thinking maybe this is to pinoy for me lol have you seen My Day? 2 episodes of crying, shouting and angst. I think maybe this is a pinoy thing. Would love to hear opinions...
People are giving bad ratings because they feel emotionally manipulated and are upset by these old fashioned tropes.…
It is not about a sad ending. It is about the message you are sending...
I haven't watched MODC but let me ask you this: did BOTH lovers died as a result of a character doing or saying something homophobic? Did they/he die because they were gay?
In the US, we call this the bury your gay trope and it is what in my opinion sets BL apart from queer cinema. BL has tragedy but it never or it rarely involves a bury your gay trope.
Korean counterparts? You most not be a BL watcher.... The Philippines BL scene has nothing to do with Korean BL…
I don't agree but I understand where you are coming from. There are some really bad Thai actors, some of whom are popular. But I would say that GMMTV actors tend to be decent in general. Some actors like Ohm Pawat, Singto and Gun Atthaphan are at the top of their game.
But my point was that comparing pinoy bl actors to Korean actors seems out of place. Korea is not a power house producer of BLs. Maybe it would be more fair to compare them to actors in Taiwan or Japan but not Korea.
I am fine with this being representative of the current queer experience in the Philippines but I am a bit upset…
I don't lie in my distaste for that awful movie... Maybe insipid is not the right way to describe it... Boring, heteronormative, frustrating.... Those are better descriptors... :)
Me wonders if mother is headed to the Wishing Tree and the Wishing Tree will grant her wish. Will it be a deus ex machina? Will she get her wish in a more poetic way just like the two lovers got their wish in a very poetic way.....
I can understand the disappointments and frustrations over Episode 7: Wishing Tree. Lots of people prefer happy…
I am fine with this being representative of the current queer experience in the Philippines but I am a bit upset they claim this as a BL when it is too queer-centric in my opinion to be a BL. BLs are generally full of hope, fluff and fantasy. They offer a positive outlook on the queer experience (if not often a bit too rose and a bit too fantastic). I would have hoped for the first BL to air in the Philippines to be like Lovesick or Gameboys. Instead, we get something more similar to the insipid Brokeback Mountain.
I hope they find a way to turn the ship around on the last episode but thus far this alone lowers my rating to 7/10 and it is in danger of getting a lower rating depending on how it ends. The only saving grace has been the acting, which honestly has been excellent thus far.
I agree with you Z is a good actor and his character is one of my favorites here.
So, this is The IdeaFirst Company and we all know how much we cried with Gameboys. We also know Pearl as this bubbly, larger than life persona...
So committing to watching this show means that it is almost certain that we will watch Pearl get hurt and cry... Also consider that Adriana So is a very good actress... So, ARE WE READY FOR THIS?????????
Really liked this up until episode 11. For me, ep 11 and 12 didn't really add anything to the show and it could…
I think they could have ended at Ep 8, then throw in Ep 9/10 as a single and condensed special episode. You are right, it would have been a great finale!
I understand the hype this show is getting. There are many good things about it. The actors are not as polished…
Korean counterparts? You most not be a BL watcher.... The Philippines BL scene has nothing to do with Korean BL or Korean drama. It is entirely connected to Thai BL, so you should say "Thai counterparts". :P

You also dont need tragedy to show the consequences of homophobia (see Gameboys).
I am just very frustrated with this show. Very promising start, excellent acting, but overall is a thumb down for me.

I had an interesting reflection the other day....

It is a scary thought....
