Hi! Try to read the comment posted a bit above yours by the user knkn9798, they beautifully described a solid…
Thank you. I read it and I understand where knkn9798 is coming from, and with all that they've said, the story still could've been told and had the same outcomes/outlooks without the use of an underage character, and instead used a university freshman or something like that. Absolutely nothing would've have changed and that's my point. The use of an underage boy makes no difference to the story if it's not going to be fully touched upon and investigated throughout the show. The main character had no real growth throughout the show, not until the very last episode, which as I stated was grazed over in a quick montage. I still believe there could've been other ways to execute and tackle the character and the issues they were trying to portray.

This drama is beautifully shot with good acting but... I don't understand the point of this drama at all. From the characters to the plot itself, I felt like there was no real resolution. The main character - I did not feel anything for her. Throughout the entire time of the drama, she was selfish, childish and just plain stupid.

I just don't get the point of this drama... insight into the mind of a pedophile? After watching this, I still keep wondering if maybe there's some deeper meaning to it, but I just feel like this drama really tried to play itself off like some edgy, controversial artwork but instead, all it did was grossly romanticise this illegal relationship. Despite this drama being directed by two women, I feel like it didn't add anything to the trope of an older women over coming adversity because of her age. I also feel like there was a missed opportunity to fully show us all the different characters' growth, but they just grazed over it in a quick little montage at the end.

I'm confused as to why there were no real consequences for anything that happens in this drama apart from some broken hearts. It's just weird to me that, in the beginning, there were continuous cuts to police investigations dealing with wanting to put an end to these kind of illegal relationships, but now that I've finished the drama, all those cuts scenes were relatively pointless. Why include those cuts if for one; they just stop after a view episodes and two; nothing is done about it in relation to the main story? Numerous people find out about their illicit relationship and nothing is done about it despite knowing it's illegal.

I just feel like the story could've been just a nicely executed without having to have an underage character.

This drama was a breath of fresh air. Interesting and dynamic characters with very talented actors to pull them off, a very good plot and OUTSTANDING cinematography (which every Ninagawa Mika production will of course have). This is a drama that definitely speaks to our generation of women. The ending, especially, was so powerful.

Ninagawa Mika continues to amaze me with her directing. I am very happy to see her transition from photographer to film and TV director to be so successful. I can't wait to watch her other works and hopefully see even more in the future.

This movie was a fun watch. It's visually STUNNING which is no surprise being that it is directed by Ninagawa Mika. The cast was star studded and did a good job. The only thing I must say is that I wasn't that thrilled about the overall execution of the story line. The story line was definitely interesting but it just felt a little too hectic. I also feel that characterisation was a bit lacking especially with the female lead character. Even with the beautiful storytelling of her past, I just didn't get that emotionally invested while watching her in the present. But overall, I still enjoyed the film. If you're a fan of films by directors like Takashi Miike, Sion Sono, maybe even Nakashima Tetsuya, then I think you'll enjoy this film too. Ninagawa Mika is definitely holding her own as a director against big boy directors like the ones I've just mentioned.

I was really excited to watch this film ( because I have to admit, I love a bit of controversy hehe) but I don't really have anything to say after watching this. It was alright. The acting was great but the overall story didn't have much of an impact on me. I do love how we get to see sex work through the eyes of a male sex worker and how he enjoys the fact that he's helping these women and also growing as a person himself, but the overall execution just fell flat for me. There were some good emotional scenes towards the end, but again, I couldn't get into them as much as I wanted to. Overall, a decent film. Definitely has a lot of potential.

Excellent series but the last 2-3 eps were a bit lackluster. 8.5/10.
I agree. Those first few episodes... amazing.

On A Virgin Woman of Literature Nov 13, 2018
I enjoyed this drama. The characters were enjoyable to watch, the acting was SUPERB, the storyline was nice, and the cinematography... GORGEOUS. Despite it having very typical shojou-esque archetypes (making it pretty predictable), I applaud this drama for not making the lead male character overly obnoxious, arrogant or abusive as most typical romance/rom-com male leads tend to be. Especially when the trope of the female lead is innocent/impressionable. It made him more of a realistic and relatable character, as well as for me, it made me more empathetic towards him.

Also, since this drama wanted to be a bit more mature with its romantic elements, I wish they wouldn't have made the female lead a virgin who has never been in love, but just simply a woman who's never been in love/doesn't understand love, period. Instead of relying on that overly typical 100% innocent trope, it would've made for a more mature, relatable, interesting, and in depth exploration of love and intimacy for her character if she had past relationships but they weren't fulfilling. (But that's just my opinion lol.)

Overall though, this is a pretty enjoyable drama to watch.

This drama definitely had me in my feels lol. Not only was the drama BEAUTIFULLY shot with an interesting storyline and characters to follow, but it also has an outstanding cast. The acting is top notch in this drama - special shout out to the child actors, they were flawless.

I was VERY close to giving this drama a 9 or even a 10 but had to give it an 8.5 because the only place it fell short, was after you find out about a certain little antagonist. Once that antagonist is known and they decide to be 100% themselves, that's when that character started to feel very cliche, and for me, where some of the realness of the drama started to fade a bit. That antagonist was just a bit too over-the-top and, in my opinion, cheapened the beautiful and realistic atmosphere the drama had created up until that point.

But overall, great drama!

I don't watch as many romcom dramas as I used to because I got tired of basically watching archetypal characters and the same storyline over and over again. So, of course, I was a bit skeptical about watching this one. That, and the fact that the whole "marriage contract" plot seems to be getting a bit too popular these days. But this drama, however, was a breath of fresh air. It still had that sweet and cheesy romcom feel to it, but with great characters and some interesting and thoughtful dialogue sprinkled throughout which helped in giving the drama a bit more of that mature atmosphere. Anyway, I really enjoyed this drama. It was definitely binge-watch worthy.

The story was very interesting and well executed. There's other positive things I want to say about this film, but I can't quite put it into words yet. In my opinion though, it's a very good film.

This definitely isn't a movie for everyone. This is one of those very outlandish and obscure films, with beautiful visuals (cinematography, costumes, makeup) and an interesting plot. You'll like it or you'll straight out hate it, doesn't make it a bad or good film, just depends on your taste and willingness to suspend your disbelief. The thing that bothered me the most though, was some of the over-the-top acting. Everything else in the film is pretty much open to artistic interpretation.

Also, just as a heads up, it's not tagged yet, but it should also be tagged as mature. Has some very mature subject matter (e.g. abuse and rape) and of course nudity.

I thought this film was good. The plot was straightforward, the cast was good, and the writing was well done.…
The content itself, like the storyline, is very mature. There is quite a bit of nudity and one or two actual sex scenes, but they aren't that explicit.

I thought this film was good. The plot was straightforward, the cast was good, and the writing was well done. Personally, I really enjoyed the characters in the film - each different and each having an interesting development. It isn't your typical romance film and the writer definitely didn't shy away from the realities of what happens in such an industry and the impact it can have.

Overall, this is a great film. Starts off chill and funny, but then takes a very dark turn. The storyline is interesting and different with a powerful execution and a very good cast. Honestly, films like this remind me of why I love Japanese films.

As a warning, this film does get pretty violent with, of course, blood and gore. Also, as an added trigger warning, this film does include some allusions to rape as well as an attempt. ...It is a pretty dark film.

I thought this film was good. It had a good story as well as a good cast but, for me, there was still something missing... it just didn't fully engage me. Even though it was good, it's not necessarily a film that I think I will remember months or even weeks from now.

I thought this movie was dope af! I'm not usually into zombie films, but this... wooooh! What a ride! Good story, great characters, awesome action! With some pretty good humour splashed around as well.

I have friends who aren't into Japanese films, or films that require reading subtitles in general, but I know they'd enjoy this. Never got boring for a second.

I must say, the plot is definitely... different (but the more I start to analyse it, the more annoyed I become). I'd probably give the most props to the sfx makeup, but that's about it when it comes to this film. Not even the sfx/CGI themselves, but just the makeup. Everything else was pretty much a hot mess. The writing was boring and all over the place and needed way more characterisation because I, personally, didn't feel connected to a single character. The action scenes were decent, though I didn't find them that exciting. The actors were fine (not as great as they usually would be) considering what they were given, but I have to wonder... were they bribed to do this film or...? Lol.

Side note: I wished I watched this while high... then it probably would've been hilariously entertaining. Lol.

Just another romantic comedy but with some jumpscares.

It was certainly funny, the cast was great and the concept interesting, but when it came to the horror and romance, they were pretty lackluster - a bit too cookie-cutter, in my opinion. It's certainly not a boring film... just doesn't stand out for me.

I enjoyed this film. Yes, it will seem weird to some (I mean, it is a Sion Sono film) but this film is sweet and has heart. As in most Sion Sono films I've watched, the cinematography, cast and direction were great. The story line may seem very outlandish but it did tackle interesting (and also heartwarming) themes. Don't dismiss this film too easily.

P.S. When Ryo was singing that song from 'Why Don't We Play In Hell?', I was dying! Hahaha!
