Also due to a conversation, I had before about the FL's makeup and styling I took more notice of it, but it seems…
I also didn't pay much attention to it tbh. After they did tho, I did realize her lip tints were especially bright but otherwise I'm not too bothered by it hahaha.
In EP6, when Consort Duan finds the poor Qi Zhu (friend of our FL) and takes her in, the Emperor gives her the…
It's just a case of really bad translation. I think Qi Zhu is now a xianzhu (县主) - which, according to Wikipedia, translates to "Princess of a County" or "Princess of a Fourth Rank". This title is usually given to the daughters of Princes of the 2nd Rank.
There's no English equivalent so I'm guessing that's why the translation isn't very good.
not having any martial arts is an understatement. she hides and ducks, or faints. underworld leader and damsel…
That last part omg, hahaha. I think I will too xD
But yes, it's really frustrating and makes no sense. I like arrogant female leads but they need actual ability to back it up. Tbh, I'd be fine if she only knew some martial arts but was a tricky and resourceful fighter who can get herself out of any situation. That would make her so much more interesting imo.
Hmm, I've watched the first two episodes and halfway of the third, and I'm not sure if I should continue.
The plot, in theory, is very interesting. But the execution is rather...lackluster imo.
I just don't find any of the characters that interesting, tbh. I don't dislike any of them yet, altho I am somewhat annoyed the FL doesn't seem to know martial arts. Or isn't very talented in them - which makes it hard for me to believe anyone would take her seriously as the leader of one of the biggest gangs.
As for the ML... he's okay. But I don't feel very much for him either, or his interactions with the FL.
The most interesting character for me is the 2nd ML, and even then, it's not enough for me to continue lol.
Actually, I think the only interactions I've really liked are btwn the sidekicks lmao. But anyway, I think I'll give this a chance until episode 4 or 5, otherwise I'll have to drop it unfortunately.
I just finished watching ep 3 and quite like the drama so far. Only I find it annoying that the female lead doesn't…
Hm, I see what you mean, but I don't think it's that simple. Fu Rong has a reputation for being a troublemaker, I'm not sure her family would believe her - maybe only her sister. And even then, she'd probably be reprimanded and told not to mention her 'dreams' ever again - after all Prince Su is royalty and her family could get into a lot of trouble if word got out somehow.
At least...I think this is what you were referring to lol! If not, sorry~
I LOVE the 2nd couple and yes, Wang You Shuo, the actor for the Little Marquis, is a great actor. I loved him…
It is!! He's really my favorite character hahah, and it might just be me, but I think they have better chemistry than the main couple xD (Idk, the 2nd couple is just more my type~)
As for the SML... Initially I liked him, not as much as the Little Marquis but more than the ML, but as time went by, he became my least favorite. He's just hard to connect to for some reason, not so much the acting but his character as a whole. His backstory, for me, is just... not really interesting and I find his reason for revenge really... lame xD
I like the second couple, the dude acted in Young Blood and I liked him better than the ML there as well. FL sister…
I LOVE the 2nd couple and yes, Wang You Shuo, the actor for the Little Marquis, is a great actor. I loved him in Young Blood as well.
I'm also happy to see someone else like Fu Xuan!! I wish we could get some more on her tbh, I really like how gentle and smart she is but with a hidden fierceness that's hilarious.
What do you guys think about the 2nd ML, Xu Ping?(I'll add my thoughts as a spoiler below)
At first I liked him more than Xu Jin, he's my favorite type - gentle and refined with a darker side. It also helps he's super good-looking lmao.
But I ended up not really liking his interactions with Fu Rong tbh. Like yes, he's super doting and really cares for her, but... She barely takes him seriously imo.
And Xu Jin has grown on me a lot, I love how much he cares for the people and his soldiers. As well as how he believes in the Little Marquis (my fave character tbh) and doesn't dismiss him as another cold and arrogant male lead might have. I still wish he was a little more expressive but in a way that makes the times he DOES smile or smirk or just act playful that more special tbh.
There's also the fact that I find Xu Ping's backstory kind of...lame? I mean, I understand his mother's death was very traumatic and I feel bad for him, but... For him to get revenge YEARS later feels really forced imo. At least if we'd been shown he was still searching for the cause of her death... instead, he's just going around disguised as a scholar when we first meet him. And to get revenge on Duke Su for something he did as a child feels too extreme for me to take seriously. Idk, I just find it hard to connect with him.
I’m a sucker for the trope of the ML secretly taking care of the FL. I'm happy she finally knows it was Xu Jin…
I'm super curious how he found about her troubles....was he spying on her? idk, a bit weird... or was it when he was still suspicious of her and had his men watching her?
I agree!!! Whenever Xu Jin smirks or acts flirty, I love him - that's why he started growing on me hahaha. I also…
Yeah, same....I was actually kind of worried when Fu Rong received the invitation to Qi Zhu's coronation that Qi Zhu would use her new power to humiliate her. But since it was the princess, it seems Qi Zhu simply wants nothing to do with Fu Rong --- which means there's hope she won't turn into a full-out villain. I just...hope she won't team up with the princess.
i also hope she becomes stronger, but I think she just needs time to grow into her newfound position.
Also when I saw the hint w/ Xu Jin's brother, I was kind of happy tbh. I think it might be a good sign, but it could also add friction as you said.
I agree!!! Whenever Xu Jin smirks or acts flirty, I love him - that's why he started growing on me hahaha. I also…
I'm also hoping for friendship! I'm also really liking the drama so far, especially the Little Marquis...he's just so funny and his budding relationship w/ Fu Xuan is just my thing! I hope we get to see him as an ML someday, his acting is great imo (I saw him in another drama, Young Blood, and his character is really different but still great acting!)
As for JJY's acting...I have to admit I don't remember much of LYX lol, so maybe I'm wrong! And I never watched her other ones other than some of the episodes of the White Snake (which I found boring and dropped lol).
And yes I totally agree most of the characters are great or likeable at least, except that princess...what do you think about Qi Zhu tho? I hope, even if she goes down the villain route, that her friendship with Fu Rong can be restored somewhat, I find her quite sympathetic tbh even if her anger / hate for Fu Rong isn't "rational".
Hey guys, I’m at Ep 10 and I am yet to ascertain if Duke Su has had all those nightmare and bad premonitions?
Not completely sure, but I think there might be hints that he has... For example, why did he save Fu Rong in the beginning without even knowing her? And the way he avoids his "childhood friend", that Xihe princess, so deliberately is kind of suspicious.
But I'm not sure, this is just speculation and also since the summary says he also has that ability.
Xu Jin is no Long Fei Ye. This one may be serious at times but not as terminally so as the barely-cracks-a-smile…
I agree!!! Whenever Xu Jin smirks or acts flirty, I love him - that's why he started growing on me hahaha. I also like when he has that rivalry thing going on with the Little Marquis, especially since it'd be easy for Xu Jin to just dismiss him.
But with Fu Rong and Han Yunxi, I feel Fu Rong is a lot more childish and reckless, which can get annoying lol. She has her moments tho, I like how much she cares for her sister and her master and how hard she tries for them. Altho, again, she'd benefit from thinking things over before running ahead lol.
There's no English equivalent so I'm guessing that's why the translation isn't very good.

But yes, it's great he isn't forceful. Which only gives Xu Jin the chance to build a relationship with Fu Rong, as you said ;)
