It's a Wonderful Life is my most hated film ever. I think it makes a mockery of depression (though not of suicidal…
thanks for these recommends. :) I will look into these for sure. I'm not a big fan of It's A Wonderful Life myself... I just know it's a movie that is well known to a lot of people. Also, I notice that Japan has quite a few dramas that deal with mental health topics (or am I imagining things?).
It is a very interesting thing to examine. Quite cursory due to article length constraints and other things. It…
This is interesting to learn. Everything I said above was just some cursory observations (like you said) from one American who has dealt with some of these things personally.
Loved Loved Loved Wakamano Tachi!. It's definitely a drama worth watching.
I am almost done with Platonic and really love it. I downloaded ep 8 raw but have no subtitles for it yet. So I'm resisting the urge to watch it until I can find some subs. But it definitely has a 90s romance feel to it. It kind of makes me feel nostalgic, because I really love Japanese romance dramas from the 90s.
I personally loved this one. But yes, it's not for everyone. I am just a fan of weird and kooky humor so this is the type of thing right up my alley.
Yeah.. the last episode could have been better... But I'd still watch this again anyway.
Cheer, I always enjoy reading your articles. Good work! :)
I've been wanting to give the Thai Full House a try. I cannot even finish the Korean version - I found myself very bored with it. While Beyond the Clouds isn't one of my favorites, I still really liked it. I haven't seen any of the other dramas on this list. To be honest, I haven't watched many 2014 dramas because there were just too few that caught my eye. I think, though, that the end of the year has been a little bit better (or maybe it's just my mood?).
If anyone wants to PM me some good and *light* lakorns from any year I'd be very happy.
To tell the truth, I'm impressed with the poor acting in some of the live action adaptations of shojo manga. It gives me a break from angsty-feels I get from watching shows that seem more realistic. Ever since I delved into 1960's kitschy movies I have a soft spot for movies with not really the best acting.
But of course I do prefer the original manga... well.. the few I have read anyway.
Sadly, in real life many "villains" don't even reach the "remorse" phase like some of these drama villains... They live their lives as if the world is theirs... Especially with political and corporate villains/criminals. So at least the writers made their villains face themselves morally. But it still would be nice to see justice served to these drama villains - in addition to their moral remorse.
Hi everyone, thank you so much for all your support. We will always need people to contribute as writers. But for now, I think we're all good with positions for editors. So I won't be accepting any more applicants. But please contact me, Skye-N-Rain, or Elisabetta if you would like to write. We'd love to hear from you.
I wouldn't mind helping out with whatever but I need guidance on what to write about. I can help with editing…
We can always use people to contribute as writers. There is no set topic for general articles. You can look at past articles and get an example also. Just be creative!
I am already writing articles but sometimes there was problem ( 2 times it happend) that article went out before…
Sorry to hear this Dak-shi. If your articles were published a long time ago I wouldn't know about it as I didn't have access to publishing until just recently. From now on I'll work on having better communication with the writers. In general though, once an article is submitted it usually means the writer has completed it and it's meant to be edited and published.
For those waiting for replies, I'll be getting to them soon. I love how many people want to contribute to MDL. So bear with the us as we sift through our messages. Thank you!
I'm a big fan of classic romantic literature (Jane Austen among my faves) so I think the comparisons between Asian dramas and classic literature are noteworthy. I'm a bit of an old-fashioned gal and so the etiquette and courtships of both classic literature and Asian drama truly appeal to my tastes.
When he has time, my husband does watch with me. His first complete drama was Vampire Prosecutor. Though he did catch a few episodes of City Hunter when I was first watching. It's just difficult for him to find time to watch cause he works so much. He's sort of watching Time Spiral with me. I did get my daughter to watch bits of Hana Kimi (both Japan and Taiwan), Ouran High School Host Club, and After School Bokbulbok.
Remakes do certainly have a hit and miss history of success :/
I'll watch it for sure though. I'm optimistic, at this point, that this remake will be successful.

#6 running scene is from "Fated to Love You"
I'm not exactly sure about the others though...
