'94: It's not that he wasn't the right guy... It's one of those instances where he wasn't my preference. I'm sure many other viewers preferred him.

Lovers in Paris is good. It's the typical rich man/poor woman romance drama. it's not keeping my attention as much as Lovers did. Sometimes when watching a romance drama I need something besides the typical love story - comedy, action, suspense, mystery, etc... Just to keep the story interesting. I'll continue to watch because I like it, but it will take me a while I think. I feel bad for LDG's character (cute as he is -- it's tough being the 2nd male) but in this drama I'm rooting for the main guy.

I'm glad you're enjoying Dream High. I want to watch it but haven't been in the mood for any sort of music drama lately.

Yes, the avi is from Let's Eat. I could easily watch it more than once ^.^

I totally understand how you feel. You're still young and we all have our ups and downs. sometimes before finding the right path we have to have setbacks. In the meantime, take care of yourself :)

While I expected the ending relationship in Reply 94 I think I would've preferred a different ending. But oh well. The extra 2 eps were a combo of BTS and "Best of" scenes. I just briefly skimmed through them and didn't really watch though.

Sometimes I really love movies that make me cry. They can be cleansing to the soul. So I always make sure to have tissue around when I know a movie will be a tearjerker.

I really like Lovers. I actually practically marathoned it - stopped only to eat and sleep. It was surprisingly good. Not that it's one of my favorites, but definitely well worth the watch I thought.

<3 This was enjoyable to read. :D

But we need to add one more item to the list -- the tracksuit look. Whether it be fancy like Secret Garden or casual like in Let's Eat or get your friends together and have a set like Rooftop Prince ;)

Oh, okay, the episodes 22 and 23 of Reply 1994 at Drama Fever are behind-the-scenes type of episodes. So MDL was right.. there were 21 eps. And I guessed who she'd end up with correctly (I'm not telling).

He plays a great character in 97 as well. He makes the show lots of fun :). There's actually 2 more episodes than what is shows here on mdl. So I have 4 more to go... *sigh*... as much as I'm enjoying the show I'm ready for it to finish. I don't know why the creators of the show felt the need to add 2 extra episodes. I guess I'll continue watching to see if those extra eps are worth it.

I have Our Happy Time on my ptw list. It does look really good. I'm glad you love it and that is an encouragement :)

Is real life keeping you from drama lately? That's understandable if it's so. I do love real life events so if your life events aren't sad things. If you're having a hard time, then I'll send you a *hug*. But hopefully your life is being good to you now. (I won't ask nosy questions.)

This was an interesting comparison - great job :)

Actually, I saw neither of these two, and I don't know if I'll watch either anytime soon, but based on clips and trailers from both I can see the similarities.

It's great fun to do East/West comparisons. It just goes to show that no matter where you are in the world and despite cultural differences, basic human nature is still the same.

From what I've seen of clips and previews, I think Reply1994 maybe a lot different than 1997. Aside from the fact that they're in college instead of high school, the mood seems to be more... I don't know.. somber? Anyway, i've looked at the reviews on the MDL page and it seems less popular than '97. I like '94 though - I tend to like dramadies that are realistic and mellow in their comic delivery. I'm only on ep. 8 so I still have a ways to go before judging 1994 in full. So far, the characters are easy to relate to.

Trained is a good word. Another way to be patient in adaptations is book to movie acceptance. I really TRY not to be a book snob - so any movie from a book adaptation I take with a grain of salt and be thankful that its story is available for non-readers. So watching multiple adaptations of dramas is a piece of cake.

Cruel City is going to take me a while to finish. It's a well done drama, but I just haven't been up to watching something super heavy. I don't think I'm going to do well in watching the melos on my ptw list. :/

I like everything I'm watching right now. I got so many on my watching list because 3 are airing. So I need something to watch during the week until the new episodes are released. Why I'm suddenly watching airing dramas I don't know. It's not something I usually do o.O

i debated watching Reply 1994, but it caught my attention more than 1997, so i decided to watch it 1st. Maybe I'll watch '97 later.

i don't know how I manage adaptations without comparing TOO much. I guess I'm used to watching multiple adaptations of movies but with dramas I still compare a little bit... just not as much as others I suppose.

An enjoyable article :). I generally like most noona romances, but not because it's a "noona" romance, but rather because they usually fall in the rom-com category... I just like romances in general no matter who the older one is.

I'd also like to see Lucky Star and Azumanga Daioh as live action. Both have great potential. Maybe, if we're lucky, producers are working on it as we type.

DN Angel would be interesting too - but I have the same concerns you do about the possibility of corniness.

I haven't seen the others listed here - they look interesting though.

Well CC is a crime/action genre and I definitely like action, but usually in movies. When it comes to drama it's not my 1st choice. Probably cause in movies everything's handled in a short span and you get more action for your time. Anyway, as long as I watch just 1 or 2 eps at a time I think I'll be able to enjoy it. But things are starting to get interesting - I may end up with a high rating for this one.

I like JKH better in CC - more sophisticated and aloof - just watching him walk coolly while everyone is fighting around him was just very awesome (*not a spoiler cuz it's his character's persona*).

Yes, I'll still have the rom-coms to turn to in between the melos. They're always a nice relief valve :)

I have the "watching multiple adaptations habit" in American/British movies too (not so much in their shows). I don't know why (?_??

Yes I am watching Cruel City. It's taking me a while to get into it though. Like the drama Black and White it's not my normal genre of choice. But I have discovered that the same guy who plays the 2nd male in SILY, Jung Kyung Ho, is also in Cruel City.. and... WOW... *fans self*

Anyway... I may or may not watch The Devil this year - it's on my PTW list. I have this tendency to want to watch all versions of a drama from each country - if Taiwan came out with a version of The Devil I'd probably want to watch it too.

I have discovered I have more melo on my PTW list than comedy... probably because I've watched most of the rom-coms on my list already. So I'm going to try and start watching some of the heavy stuff this year.

SILY was good. Falls between drama and melo. So it's best to watch if you're in the mood for seriousness. Yeah, SJS's role in Sophie's Revenge was pretty small, but the movie was good anyway.

Yeah, I understand. Anime/manga to live-action can be tough to pull off successfully. :)

Well, from what I've seen, Ikuta Toma's past roles haven't been too serious. Though he's been in a couple that were more serious - Maou is one for example and Tale of Genji (haven't seen this one though). The romance movies he has been in recently are drama but not as heavy as Brain Man or even Maou - though even that is light compared to Brain Man)

I think I just realized I have way too much time on my hands.. I've only been watching drama a couple of years and I'm starting to sound like a seasoned drama pro (0.o)

Sorry I Love You was the first time I saw SJS in a drama. Though I did see the movie Sophie's Revenge but at the time I didn't realize the guy was SJS - it was in my early days of drama watching that I saw the movie so I was not yet familiar with the actors. I'm almost tempted to see that movie again.

Ah, Hana Kimi. It is a weird type of comedy which is why I like it. But I mostly like it for Nakatsu. If he wasn't part of the story I wouldn't be much fond of it as much.

Brain Man! Yeah, I really loved that movie. Ikuta Toma really did a good job in that movie I think. It was nice to see him in something other than comedy or light drama.

Good to see you again! I figured life got a hold of you. It happens to all of us.

I've completely come out of my slump and actually decided (as you noticed) to watch some airing drama. I did finish I Do I Do with great success. Thanks for the *high five*. :D

Since I'm home all the time and spend quite a bit of time on the computer anyway, I may as well make myself useful somewhere. So MDL was a good choice for me.

yellow pic guy - Kim Ji Hoon - same guy in my profile pic - quite the difference what clothes, hair, and make-up can do (plus a bit of photoshopping i'm sure).

Ghost - it was refreshing to watch a non-romance kdrama. usually I turn to Japan when I'm not in the mood for romance, but Ghost was an excellent choice for kdrama

Let's Eat - awesome so far. I'm antsy waiting for the next ep.

Who are You - almost done and am enjoying it.

Enjoying your other dramas?

I've already got Bride of The Century on my list. I've had my eye on it for the last month. I'm looking forward to see how Lee Hong Ki does as the lead role - a chaebol heir no less!

There's a lot of seriousness in this list of upcoming drama! Don't know if I can take it all -.-; But they do look promising.

I think a weekend movie selection for the picky and critical viewers might be a good idea. Though, if you wanted to do a more in depth article, as opposed to just a selection of 3 or 4 movies, then it might be better to contact SeRose. My responsibility lies with the weekend movies. So feel free to send me a message if that's what you would like to do and I can tell you the guidelines.

The only one of these shows I haven't watched is I Hear Your Voice. For the most part, the others definitely had strong female characters.

This is a good list. I wouldn't list them as my top 5, but I'd put 3 of them on my top 20 list though (after I watch I Can Hear Your Voice I may add the character Lawyer Jang to my list) ^.^

I've always wanted to watch Japanese classics. The only classics I've seen are classic Japanese horror. But they've been on my mental ptw list for a long time. Zatoichi and Rashomon will be given priority.

thanks for writing :)
