Thank you. My eyes are a bit better now. But I still can't look at the monitor too long. So no drama marathon for a couple days :(

I'm not much into Star Trek either actually. I like the original Star Trek probably because I grew up watching the reruns and then saw the movies. I still think it's not that great of a show, but it's a nostalgia thing and I still love the characters.

I've only seen the first season of Sherlock. So I'm trying to avoid any online forum or place where it's talked about. I already know more than I want to know about the 2nd season and that bothers me. So I've kind of delayed watching it. :/ But I'll eventually get around to seeing it again.

Actually the one that got me out was Ando Lloyd - which I really liked. Then I watched Kazoku Game - which was even better. But now that I'm wanting to watch drama now i really can't at the moment due to some eye issues :(. I'll probably be able to resume tomorrow.

I found IT Crowd to be absolutely hilarious. One of my favorite comedies now. Along with Miranda.

I didn't know who Karl Urban was before Star Trek. The doctor has always been my favorite character in the old series. And I just thought he played the role wonderfully. Benedict Cumberbatch is in the second one. Loved him in that. I still need to finish Sherlock. But I love it so far. :)

What's funny is that my husband doesn't even fall under "my type" - his hair was blonde/light brown mix.

At 1 point (way before the Harry Potter movies) I had a brief crush on Alan Rickman. But I think it was just my overall admiration for him as an actor rather than appearance. There's also a Bollywood actor that I also have an admiration for (even though I've only seen him in a couple movies) -> Shah Rukh Khan.

My "he's not beautiful, but his personality makes him too adorable" crushes are Richard Ayoade, Chris O'Dowd, & Noel Fielding - though for these 3 I'm heavily influenced by their 'IT Crowd' characters. I've a number of actors I like for their ability to make me smile even though they aren't handsome by world standards.
Oh I just remembered! I have a new love in Karl Urban. After seeing him in the new Star Trek movies.. well.. you know... smiles and heartbeats :) <3

Seems like a nice selection with a few I will probably actually watch. Yes, let's hope some very nice subbers work on these so we can watch a few of them. Although I'm pretty sure that IF only one gets subbed it would be Shitsuren Chocolatier because of MatsuJun (being totally hypothetical here)... I've nothing against him - I actually like him, but you know... that's usually how it is.

I'm pulling the "hipster" thing and saying I liked Colin Firth and Gary Oldman before they become the in thing. I liked Johnny Depp when he was still on tv (21 Jump Street). Jude Law before he was a household name, etc... Sometimes it pays to be in the same age group as these older and popular celebrities.

I notice, like me, you are fond of dark-haired men (explains our attraction to Asian men, eh?). But I agree with you about Keanu Reeves. I was crushing on him since I was in high school and saw him in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure. My senior year of high school was spent ogling Johnny and Keanu. seeing as they're both older than me that makes me feel less old now :D. Ed Norton <3. I could never get into Robert Downey Jr. Probably cause I grew up watching him in his crazy young years. It's awesome that he sobered up, but I still can't bring myself to really like him. Tho I think he's turned into a great actor. Now that I think about it, there aren't a lot of U.S. actors I'm crazy for. Johnny, Keanu, Ed... oh, and Jim Caviezel. U.K. faves- Colin Firth, Jude Law, and Gary Oldman. Then there's my long list of actors from classic film.

I watch Asian dramas because, to me, they have the unrealistic element to them. The "Cinderella" factor…
though, on a side note, I really don't have to worry about little ones as my kids are all over 18 now. :/

I watch Asian dramas because, to me, they have the unrealistic element to them. The "Cinderella" factor is in most of them - poor girl meets rich guy or popular guy and somehow they fall in love (tho' it is annoying at times). In my world that never happens. So the fairy tale quality is a plus. I've seen a lot of U.S. and U.K. tv shows where the characters aren't as made up as the Asian drama characters. So I'm not sure which shows you watch. Plus we've all seen the shows where even the poorest girl has the fanciest phone. So I would say that Asian drama has its own elements of unrealism (I know - not a word).

I do agree with you on many points though. Especially the family-friendly viewing... even though not all shows are suitable for kids at least there's enough of a selection of "clean" dramas that are suitable to watch while little ones are about.

Yes, Changing Partners. now I remember!

I have no problem with LMH(he IS a lovely person to look at). He's just not one of my top favorites. I have the same issue with many popular U.S. actors. I like them but I don't count them as favorites. I'm sure ladies over here would gasp if I told them I wasn't into the appeal of Ryan Gosling. Johnny Depp is a rare exception, but that is because he's so great at playing the eccentric character. I love eccentric characters and the actors who play them... especially if the actors are also a bit eccentric (so of course Helena Bonham Carter is on my top list). So, when I come across an Asian actor who regularly plays eccentric characters but at the same time can play a serious normal role I tend to add them to my top list. Which is odd because I look like a normal person. Maybe it's my small rebellion against conformity?

Yeah, Sweet 18 was a bit silly. The main actress bugged me too. Just in the first 2 episodes. I couldn't get past that. I want to finish it. I hate just dropping a drama -.-
I saw Lee Dong Gun in 'Sang Doo Let's Go to School' where he plays the 2nd male. I felt bad for his character. It wasn't much of a comedy, but it was lighter on the melo than other dramas. I tried watching him in a movie, but it was about couples cheating on each other... I don't like movies like that so I just skipped to the end. I can't remember the name of it.

Heirs will be on my watch list. I've heard lots of positive things about it. Though one person (not on MDL) made the comment that she could never rewatch a Lee Min Ho drama even if she liked the drama. I thought about it & had to agree. His dramas are generally good, but I can't bring myself to watch them again.

I've seen Lee Dong Gun in a few previous dramas. Though never as the lead. Well, I did see him in one where he was the lead - Sweet 18 - but I never finished it. I think I just saw the first 2-3 episodes. I want to finish it eventually. It just didn't hold my interest at the time.

I'll probably watch Heirs eventually. I have this weird habit of not wanting to watch something when everyone else is. I usually like to wait until the fervor dies down a bit before watching it myself. Though I will make exceptions on rare occasions. I'm kind of weird that way. :/

I didn't see him first in FBND. My first exposure to him was "Stars Falling From the Sky", but I wasn't impressed with his character. So it was a little while before I got around to seeing anything else with him. I discovered and strongly liked some of the modeling photos of him so I started watching FBND and liked him in that. But I don't think the show did him justice. I really fell in love with him when I saw him in Love Marriage. I discovered that he has a smile that really lights up a room. He needs more roles like his role in Love Marriage. So ... now every time I see a picture of him smiling I start feeling all warm and fuzzy inside. It's like looking at a really cute puppy. ^.^. Of course, I also like his serious/sexy poses. :)

I know. After all this time I don't mind if something isn't original. The important thing is the character development and well-done writing, directing, and acting.

Happy new Year to you too!

My profile pic <3. This is Kim Ji Hoon. They younged him down a bit for OhBoy! (a Korean magazine). I saw the series of pics and my jaw dropped. (I know "younged" is not a word. I made it up)

In romance they are good, but in comedy the Kdrama lack a lot 2 in 3 times they make it awkward instead of being…
I noticed that too. For comedy I turn to Japan and Taiwan, but Korea rocks the romance and melo genres. If I'm ever in the mood to cry buckets or go through my tissue box I know I can rely on Korea for that.

I really haven't watched rom-coms this year. I still need to finish FBND. I only have one episode left to watch, but I've seen spoilers and it kind of put me off to watching it. I need to avoid the internet forums which discuss new dramas OTL. The others I'll eventually watch, but I just haven't had any big interest in 2013's rom-coms. Then again, I'm in a bit of a slump... so not much has piqued my interest :(

I hope it's good too. Chocolate is a plus. Though it got me thinking about how many chocolate/patisserie/restaurant dramas have been done. And then it got me thinking that with so many dramas being made each year it's a wonder that good ones can keep being made. You'd think the stories would get stale. I applaud the writers, directors, etc... in these countries who are able to produce such fantastic results even when the story may not be original. This makes it more understandable when you see so many "no goods" being produced each year. It's tough to to create new things when practically everything's been done already.

She's in another state. So close but yet so far... But thank goodness for telephone and email :D

Yes, it looks very entertaining - of course I knew you'd add it for MatsuJun ^-^. But even with another actor the story itself looks like a cute (but not too sappy) romance.

I get a kick out of subtitles sometimes. Both literal and modified have their own problems. So perhaps a combination of both is good. I imagine as a subber you'd have to use discretion and common sense. But ideally I'd like to just learn the languages so I don't have to bother with subs - maybe one day.......

Decorations in our neighborhood are pretty minimal. We have to drive to a neighboring town to see lots of decorations. but this year a family from our church decorated their house really nicely and even included a 10 min music & light show using their computer and a private radio station. So we watched that. Apparently it wasn't too expensive. Plus they used energy efficient lights. It's amazing what you can do on a budget.

I'd like to be with my Mom for the holidays. You're lucky to have family nearby. Driving to visit my mom takes about an hour longer than a person in Europe driving from Berlin to Paris... that's quite the drive! If I flew I'd still have to drive 3 hours to get to her house. :/. Either way is spendy (gasoline vs airfare? $$$ or $$$?)
