I'll have to look more into most of these. The season does look interesting. Actually I did watch the first episode of Time Spiral... because... well... Gackt! But I'll have to see if I decide to finish it later on.
Seriously though, I still have a lot of catch up to do. I don't think Ill be able to see all the dramas I want to see :(
I loved After School Bokbulbok. It's a great and fun and light filler series for when you don't feel like committing yourself to a long drama nor feel like sitting through a 2 hour movie. Just a fun drama overall. I'll probably watch more web dramas.
not that I was a fan of his to begin with... but like others have said. you don't know what a celebrity is like in real life. All you know is his/her work and public appearances. This isn't the first case of a celebrity being accused of assault and it woun't be the last case. Just because you're a celebrity doesn't mean you're a good person. It just means you're talented ... or at least good looking.
But there are probably a lot of things not being said. Despite the he said/she said part of the story, I'm sure both of them are hiding some crucial details. Also, no matter his celeb status he should still be held accountable for the wrong he did - even if it was just once.
I think he can bounce back up again though, but after he has taken whatever punishment is required. No point in a career being ruined because of a horrible mistake. People have bounced back out of worse situations.
I have only seen Kazoku Game and that was definitely a must-watch. The others, especially Hanzawa Naoki, look really good too. If they're not already on my list, I'm adding them :)
I wish I could be more excited, But after seeing the anime and reading the manga (well most of it)... I was rather disappointed with the first movie. I really liked it, but not enough to get excited for the next 2 movies. But I will try to watch them because I hate not finishing a series of films or books :)
I only watched Master's Sun... it's so seldom that I watch a drama when it airs. Most of the time I wait almost a year before getting around to it :/ But there are a few on this list that look watch worthy
I agree with most people here. YoonA just doesn't seem like she could fit this particular role. Nodame requires a special and unique actress. I really don't have high hopes for this now. YoonA just doesn't seem quirky enough. I don't hate her, but really? They could've made a better choice
This is such a fun article.
I love the endearing losers... Many times they end up being supportive of the main couple and eventually find their own love. Nakatsu is my favorite in this category. I also loved Seo Na Yoon in Protect the Boss. She was a surprise for me. I thought for sure she'd be the vindictive/catty female. But she turned out really sweet. Another "endearing loser" that I liked was Wang Joo Hyun from When It's At Night. She is a narcissist, but once she realized that the main guy wasn't interested in her she backed off. She turned out to be the sweetest narcissist I've ever seen. I guess she changed from being an endearing loser to uninterested.
I can't even list all my beloved seconds. But whether they're vindictive, endearing, uninterested, or a silent bystander they all deserve our attention. :)
What a great and fun article!
I have thought about all of these issues quite often! Especially the one about always running into someone in a big city. Even in America it happens in movies that take place in cities like New York or Los Angeles. The magic of movies and drama I guess!
My most recent curiosity was about the phone calls. 90% of the calls I've seen never have someone saying goodbye before hanging up. They just hang up. If I was the person being hung up on I'd be like "What...?" O.o
Joe Cheng has an awesome on screen presence. I've seen him in a few other dramas and movies, and no matter if they were good or bad he always stood out strongly even when he wasn't the main character.
To tell the truth, I haven't seen any ISWAK yet. I keep watching his other stuff. I'll eventually get to ISWAK but I tend to put off the overly popular dramas for later... :/ yeah, I know.. kinda weird of me.
This is a great article. If a villain can make me love and hate him/her at the same time, then the character was created successfully by the writer and the actor who played the part. I also hate one-dimensional villains that fit the cliche role. It's better to see a bit of humanity in their hearts as well. There are actually very few villains I've come to appreciate.
Hopefully we'll see more interesting villains in future dramas... But I'm sure the boring villains will continually pop up. :/
I'd recommend this too for those looking for a more mature drama. I like that there's no real villain in the story and that all the characters are human with both good and bad characteristics. I like dramas where there's not a black and white divide.
Even though I've put this drama on hold for now, I think it's well done and I do look forward to finishing it in the future.
I've seen some people turned off by this drama for moral reasons, but seriously, you can find immoral acts or thoughts in the majority of dramas. I don't watch it because I agree with what the characters are doing, but I watch it because the story is well-written (so far), the actors do their jobs well, and the entire cast's chemistry is fantastic (not just the 2 leads').
I actually really like this manga and read it in the original Japanese. For once I have actually read a manga…
to tell the truth, I haven't read a lot of manga. I get impatient with reading things on screen (I don't read books on kindle or whatever either). So mostly this action is what I use for books overall. What I've read: Hana Kimi, Switch Girl, High School Debut, bits of Ah My Goddess and bits of Azumanga Daioh ... all these after watching either anime or live action versions. :) I have others on my "plan to read" list. I'm sure other manga readers could recommend a ton more.

I haven't read the manga yet, but since it's being made into live action I'll watch it first, and then the anime, before reading the manga. That way I can be that much happier about the manga if I like the movie rather than being bummed out by the movie because of the awesomeness of the manga. (did that make sense?).
I do agree that live action adaptations of mangas tend to be lacking... So I try to count them as separate things as much as possible without comparing too much. Otherwise disappointment happens in a big way.
I grew up watching movies where there was usually a considerable age difference between actors = especially older man/younger women combos. There are very few instances where I see a problem. So I'm really not too shocked by the age differences of the actors. Even with the younger man/older woman pairings I'm not too shocked. But this was an interesting article. Except on rare occasions, I don't normally pay attention to how old any of the actors are. My only concerns are that the story is good and the actors perform well.
