This was a fun article. While some of them I don't think look much alike I do agree they look enough alike to be related. While others I think could pass for super close siblings.
I don't mind have iljins being the main characters portrayed as long as the drama creators portray them responsibly. Don't glamorize them and make the audience aware of the seriousness of their bullying behavior. Bullying is unacceptable in any form and is an issue that should be handled appropriately. If iljins are to be the main characters then their story should be one of redemption - they did wrong in the past and they are setting out now to atone for those wrongdoings.
More focus should be placed on the good students of the schools - in my humble opinion. But would that make for an exciting drama? Probably not.
Thanks for highlighting these wonderful women. Are we going to see an article on the men next? The veterans are the examples that the young ones should look up to, because they'll be veterans themselves one day. :)
Love this guide. Nakama Yukie is adorable. I loved her in her brief appearance in Mr. Brain. Those 2 episodes were pretty awesome. She is definitely one of the actresses that I do an active drama/movie search for.
This is a good article. In most cases my heart is torn between the 1st and 2nd lead. There needs to be more 2nd females for the 2nd males to turn to (like in Protect the Boss). Then I wouldn't feel so bad when they got left alone in the end. There are very very few instances though when I absolutely do NOT want the 1st male lead with the female lead. Most of the time I'm happy with the first/first pairing.
As one who has similar issues as Dok Mi I've come to appreciate this drama. I'm pretty much a recluse myself. So kudos to the writers of FBND for doing a fair job so far.
since Hana Yori Dango, Hana Kimi, and Boys over Flowers are based on mangas/anime it's not surprising that these are the first dramas for many viewers. I'm not a big fan of Hana Yori Dango or Boys over Flowers - I love them, but they're not my top favorites. Hana Kimi I love - both Taiwan's and Japan's versions. Ikuta Toma did win my heart and quickly became my favorite Nakatsu too (though I do love Jiro Wang's portrayal also).
I love Rain, but I still cannot get through 'Full House'- it's on my "Hold" list. I try to go back and watch it, but - ugh! - I can't!. I think it's one of those love it or hate it dramas.
Anyhow, I think with a bit of practice some of the idols could do better. They should go to special acting classes whenever possible.
Yoo Ji Tae .. I have a lot of his movies on my mental PTW list (haven't officially added them to MDL yet). I've seen about 4 so far. Midnight FM is one of them. I think he's pretty awesome :)
I enjoyed this a lot more than the korean choices. :) There's something about the Japanese actors that make them seem more laid back and more fitting for the HP world. this was fun.
I also have Kim Sam Soon on my top characters list :)
my other 5:
Cha Ji Heon - Protect the Boss (I easily relate to his issues)
Choi Jin Wook - Baby Faced Beauty
Yoo Jung In - Vampire Prosecutor 1 & 2
Cha Yang Soon - Successful Story of a Bright Girl (another strong female lead)
Kim Dong Ah - Wild Romance
I notice most of my favorite female characters are women with strong personalities and not complete pushovers at all.
Wild Romance seemed more like a "buddy" comedy where the 2 leads coincidentally fall in love toward the end. Ramyun Shop was cute and I liked it, but it was not one of my favorites. Haven't seen the other rom-coms above yet. Well, I started Big... haven't gotten past ep 6 though. Just can't get into it :/
I preferred Devil Beside You over Why Why Love, but just barely. They are both fantastic I think so it was difficult to choose which one I liked better.
not sure if I agree with Yoon Eun Hye (actually can't think of any Korean actress that would do Hermione's part justice) and Jang Geun Suk (mainly the age issue - if he was 20 years older maybe) but the rest seems fair. Of course, I think it would be funner to find a bunch of talented unknowns or not so knowns to play the parts of Ron, Hermione, and Harry... just like the movies. I'm just saying.
By the way, I think Mrs. Weasley should be played by an actress who fits the traditional but eccentric mother better.
I do worry about "eye candy" playing these characters who are actually supposed to be rather normal looking and even, at times, not too pretty at all.
