In parallel you can see after Zeshan did what he did CSS lost herself as well as Zeshang.

Another thing that just sunk in for me:

Yes I found that super cute, I think Wu Lei texted Lusi after they watched a particularly emotional scene to check in on her. And then he was distracted lol... when the MC asked him to say his goodbyes he was distracted by whatever he was thinking about

Yes! I would have liked that as well :(. I guess even though he felt he didn't deserve her forgiveness how much he loves, cares for her and still pretty much lives for her was sprinkled in their interactions, most notably when they almost fell off that cliff and he told her he has never stopped thinking of her as his wife and he couldn't live in a world where she was not in.

In the episodes after the 5 year separation I deeply felt both their pain.

Ahhhhh I see, yeah where I was confused is that he told the empress he had already decided to abandon CSS when he went to the Marquese's house and he also said that he had no regrets (about abandoning CSS and not including her in his planning). I know that really hurt her to overhear, and even in the live stream when you watch them rewatch that scene you can see how it hurts both of them very much.

But what you are saying makes a lot of sense. It aligns with when CSS said to him in that scene, "Yes I understand you, but did you ever understand me".

I found it interesting that when they were all stuck in that crypt thing LBY said he regretted what he did on the day of the massacre the minute he saw CSS. But when the Empress was questioning LBY before the 5 year seperation about whether he had any regrets he said "no" and CSS overheard that.

So was he lying to himself and the Emperor and Empress back then? or did it take him going away to the Northern boarder for it to fully sink in how much he messed up/lost?

Question about LBY and his regret (I will post below with a spoiler tag) but i'm curious to hear the thoughts of those of you who finished the drama.

I think this is probably an area where they cut scenes so how it didn't happen was left a bit vague to us. I think maybe CSS wanted to get engaged but after she saw LBY (after their seperation) she realized she couldn't go through with it?
