I have a question please. That scene where the Empress questioned the injured HBY (fresh from being rescued from…
I think her turning very cold was because of how he betrayed her. He literally ripped her heart out of her chest and stomped on it. At the massacre when she came to him, he told her they wouldn't be seeing each other again and then at the cliff scene she told him if you abandon me I swear to heaven I will never forgive you. CSS's biggest trauma is childhood abandonment/abandonment in general by people who she loves and the people that are supposed to love and protect her.

He told her leading up to this event that he was never going to leave her. Once she figured out what he is doing, she gave him three chances to tell her the truth and she knew when he came to see her right before the wedding (when she was being taken home from the empress's palace) that the wedding isn't happening. That he was going to do something. That is why she slowly started to retreat into herself because he was abandoning her. I think that bite scene for her - where she told him they were bonded by pain was very significant and even after that he abandoned her and she no longer felt like she knew when she could trust him and when he was being genuine.

And in the end she ended up having to save him anyway (when he was trying to protect her by keeping her out of it), by digging up evidence and telling everyone his back story otherwise no one would have even looked for him. I think all in all she felt very betrayed that he didn't include her in his plan because she literally would have done anything to help him. Her change in behaviour after that is just from her being heartbroken and losing the person she would die for and she lost some of her identity and light (like her intrinsic joy). But she is rational enough to realize that she must live on, she isn't going to be weak and give up on her life. She wanted to live on and take care of her family and the only person that had treated her sincerely - which was the Empress.

Sorry for the long post, i've been thinking about this a lot. This is just my perspective, would love to hear others.

LOL - your last paragraph made me laugh. I'm also going through withdrawal/denial about this all being over so…
I hope for lots of pictures and maybe some videos of the event too (fingers crossed)

lol I know!

We so rarely get to see Lusy get dressed up for formal events, so I'm really excited to see what her look will be.

*hugs* it'll mean having to rewatch the episodes that they were initially planning to air anyways, huh?
I can't wait to see how you find the last few episodes :)

Finally got to watch the finale livestream. It was very entertaining and I particularly enjoyed seeing them in…
LOL - your last paragraph made me laugh. I'm also going through withdrawal/denial about this all being over so I can definitely relate.

ZL, WL and YY are attending a Bvlgari event Aug 24 - so we should get some pictures from that. And we can look forward to some more BTS snippets coming through in the next week :)

Finished it! Loved it!!!! Really wish I would've held out for the last 6 episodes though. There's something about…
You should consider posting this as a review if you haven't already. It's such a good post.

I agree and I think one of the reasons I'm having a hard time moving on from this drama is that I liked Wu Lei's character a lot. The effort he put into becoming LBY and embodying those tormented emotions came across very well to me. All the rest of the cast did a fantastic job as well, but there was such a dedication to his performance that I could clearly see in how he conducted himself inside and outside of filming during that portion of time. It's incredible and it made me respect him a lot and he deserves recognition for this. His ability to show such range of emotion from hatred to deep love is astounding and I as an audience member could feel it. His eyes and microexpressions portray so much. It would be tough to portray a character like his and to make the audience like you, empathize with you and to root for you.

ZLS and WL together is what fully baked this drama for me (they are both emotive and they were able to emote well with each other). They complimented each other so well in scenes. I'm not someone who gets emotionally involved in dramas, but there are many scenes in this drama that makes me feel all sorts of emotions including sadness to the point of crying (even when i'm rewatching scenes). That boggles my mind and I'm not sure what to feel about it lol. Huge kudos to the director and whole cast/production.

Did anyone else think that the « I trust Shaoshang » thing in the last episode was out of character for LBY?From…
Yeah I had the same sense, but when he was on the horse riding back to her he did look pretty panicked. I think maybe they were limited in how they could show us that growth with 10 episodes being cut and that might explain that slightly awkward piecing together of the story in places. I mean how did the Cheng family get there in the first place (thats a big hole, maybe Zeshang called for them and that's why he was less panicked?)

I still really enjoyed the show tho, and I think they are going to keep editing the episodes. So we might get more polished versions of these last few episodes in the coming weeks.

From what I understand from the Emperor, he left her other guard in the Capital to protect Shaoshang in 5 years…
yep thats right :) and the oldest brother wasn't added to the drama adaptation. I think they had to reduce from 160+ characters in the novel to the most critical to plot development.

They do talk about him though and him and his family is posted to guard somewhere. I'm sure CSS will go visit him at some point in the future.

Thank you!! *hugs* Yes I can't wait to rewatch the episodes next week! I saw you posted a link to the book being translated to EN so maybe I will keep a eye on that until ZLS and WL come out with some new shows :D

I can definitely say I will be rewatching this drama a lot probably.

When you finished a drama and it feels like you are personally going through a break up....

The fact that after next week we won't get any new snippets (BTS's) or anything is making me feel sad and anxious.

I can honestly say I've never felt this way about a drama before. That support group for fans actually might be needed lol

I found it interesting that when they were all stuck in that crypt thing LBY said he regretted what he did on…
Yes I think we probably lost out on some scenes between them due to the episode cuts in that period as well as after the reconciliation😭
