Not sure about Eastern writing but in most Western writing (especially films and dramas) when a character commits such acts and is not redeemable, death is often their redemption (ie if they have a redemption arc) or the ultimate outcome for them.

Agreed. KMLM has some exceptional segments. Eventhough the story and the ending was not how many of us wanted it to go, the ending was really emotional 😭 and the acting by the two leads was outstanding. Glad I stuck around for it.

@eliteles1 - I have also watched JJY in other dramas before watching In Blossom and also agree that this is her best performance. I wouldn't put portrayal inconsistencies all on the actress as the Director would also have a lot to do with this - it is almost as if the production hadn't quite ironed out how two different actresses should approach the same character. TBH with only two episodes of ZHHZ as Cang Cai Wei I fortunately hadn't become too attached or too blown away by her performance. Besides LXY has good chemistry with both actresses. I watched In Blossom for LXY and indeed he is superb and the best part about it, but there are also many other great things to enjoy. The costumes, the cinematography are stunning, and the story is well paced, with the subplots and investigative cases all connecting quite nicely to the bigger conspiracy case. For sure it is a matter of preference and perspective, but I'm happy I stuck with In Blossom to the end.

It is a shame many people are stopping at Ep 24. I don’t blame them and the writers/directors have a lot to answer for that. Some of LXY’s best acting is yet to come and it is a shame many will not see it. I stayed on to watch his powerhouse performance and don’t regret it.

Some aspects could've been done differently and better, but still so many things to love about KMLM. I enjoyed it very much and the ratings won't change that.

It was heart wrenching and beautiful at the same time. Think the writers went for the poetic ending.

The ending hurts. But the performance by LXY and WJY made it beautiful.

We ask did the story have to end this way? Maybe not and we wish not. But LXY made it a beautiful ending. His acting alone is worth 9.

With you on these points. As we said in your discussion post we all would've liked a little bit more sexual tension at the start but the drama was always going to go down this route of them being decent people and falling in love. It's a shame some viewers are so hung up on the trailer.

The village scenes are important to their character development as well as their relationship. They both have to emotionally heal and learn to love. Perhaps there is a disconnect for some viewers because drama didn’t stay long enough fleshing out the darkness in their characters in the early episodes to help viewers appreciate the way they are changing and letting love and happiness into their lives. Also, they need to fall deeply in love. It does feel like a genre switch into rom com territory but I enjoyed these scenes.

Our boy MJH deserves all the love.

They have the right actor for the job for KMLM and yet…the writers should be tortured and humiliated along with the CP for screwing over our man MJH. But I need to see it to the end, messy but still fun. LXY still looking good and acting his ass off. Yep, hoping his next outing with Meng Zi ticks all the right boxes.
