Hmm…not bad surmising. BWJ has such a mild unsuspecting face but admittedly is doing a fairly decent job putting on the evil look it’s almost creepy.

Hard to think what kind of epiphany CP could experience to bring that about, interesting thought.

Lou Mei is symbolic of his obsession to win against ‘Lao San’ (Jinghe). CP doesn’t have the capacity to love.

Yep when I saw trailers for Ep 16+17 I was also starting to think exactly that.

Watch trailer for Ep 17. CP is truly a monster…Other than the trauma of not getting to know his birth mother he was treated well by his father and Empress (MJH’s mother) so there’s not even the excuse of childhood maltreatment or abuse to explain his behaviour…he has an inferiority complex and is greedy for power, no redeemable qualities whatsoever.

It deserves to be watched by many. Some powerful moments in KMLM not to be missed.

LOTR action/cgi budget was thousands of times the budget they would have here - the post production company was set up just for LOTR. The drama has done a great job in executing this action sequence. Fun to watch.

Whatever….we enjoyed it. I’m always amazed what C-ent can achieve with their limited budget. I have worked in the film industry back in the days of The Matrix and LOTR and moved within circles of production and crew who worked on these films and know how expensive/involved action sequences are. So no need to treat viewers here like we are naive. They did a good job in KMLM.

Makes both characters seem so human and quite raw...not something we often see in an historical/costume c-drama.

Beautiful acting by both LXY and WJY. I like that the scene in the cave isn’t angst filled and melodramatic. After all they have both lived through it for 10 years - ie, 10 years already of anguish and tears. I think it is realistic that MJH says he is not so sure he would make the same decision again if confronted with the same situation. Shows he is very aware of the human condition. LXY doesn’t have to cry a fountain of tears for us to feel MJH's angst and deep pain. It’s all in the body language and eyes.

Hard to say what is a good career trajectory or when an actor's prime period is. But I know what you mean. In C-ent the actors tend to be younger on average and their prime period younger than the actors in J-dramas and K-dramas. An actor could be ML in a few mediocre roles during their early-late 20's and become forgotten or have ML roles later in their careers with better acting experience and more memorable roles. Personally think C-ent lost some great opportunities with LXY but hopefully all this is being made up for now. He is one of the most versatile actors of his generation.

Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a fight choreography this much in a drama. Great use of props/weapons and hand to hand combats.

Just an observation on my part - no facts behind it. Indeed it is great to see LXY being put to good use now.

LXY is not the average handsome actor. He is gorgeous, always has been. And has amazing acting chops. However, he has an edgier look than his post-90’s peers. It is a look and talent that c-ent doesn’t quite know what to do with…until now. if he was in k-dramas he would have been creaming it a long time ago with his unique attractiveness.

Considering they are still giving this relationship some screen time I too hope it is going down the route of father figure…please no romance.
