I hate to say it but this is my least favorite KBL so far (tied with Nobleman Ryu’s Wedding). The story felt too rushed and the main couple felt forced. There wasn’t enough build up to justify their relationship.
Kim Tae Jung as the bodyguard completely stole the show towards the end for me and I found myself caring more about his unrequited love for the prince than the main couple.
Out of the all of the cross dressing and gender bender roles (both male and female) JDY definitely did the most convincing job. I loved Lady Kim so much I was kind of sad when she “disappeared”. He was never too camp with it too which made it all more convincing.
This one actually has a good ending. It puts character above actor for once unlike most body/soul swap dramas so you won’t be disappointed. I loved the FL’s journey too.
I’m excited for this because of the cast but I see that it’s being broadcasted on Channel A so it’ll probably end up being super melodramatic lol. I just hope they keep some of the comedic tone in there. I wish they would remake Ugly Betty too but with Daniel as the ML (this time).
I like him as an actor but his drama choices have not been great in helping him reach his peak potential. I think Island will be really good for him though. Fingers crossed.
Not as good as the first season and left too many questions unanswered. Ironically the least annoying characters this season were Todoriki and Kanae. I didn’t like them much in the first season but their arc together in this season was great.
Hibiki as a character was better in season one when he was allowed to be more than just Kurumi’s boyfriend/fiancé. He seemed kind of too preoccupied with her in this one losing himself and what made him a compelling character in the first place. Meanwhile Kurumi got dumbed down again with the amnesia arc. Hoping season 3 focuses more on the unanswered questions and doesn’t repeat the “we belong together I’ll save you” stick again.
It’s a filler drama but still worth watching if you like the leads. The chemistry was just okay but RJY was extra cute in this if you plan on watching for him. Story didn’t really go anywhere once they got together.
It’s just an estimate from what they’ve revealed so far (number and duration of episodes) . Semantic Error will actually be the second longest now since it’s episode number and duration was just revealed recently. They’ll both be near 3 hrs though.
Honestly it’s not as bad as some of the comments/reviews are making it out to be. There IS romance but it’s not the main focus. It’s more of a riches to rag story focused on personal and emotional growth. None of the main characters are perfect from the start but they all learn through their experiences with each other and consequently change for the better. It’s primarily an office/workplace drama but there’s a sprinkling of comedy, friendship, bromance and romance too.
Korea has acquired this peculiar tradition of producing a movie then cut it into pieces to sell it twice: first…
Blame WYEL lol. It started this trend but to be fair the drama version worked because of it’s cliffhangers and the movie version has a different ambiance altogether. Newer KBL’s are just cropped then put together again later.
The evolution of Thai BLs: high school > university/engineering > chef > sports. It’s like someone picks a theme and everyone follows it lol. I wish we could get something unique like a BL version of Boys Over Flowers. Maybe one day...
The synopsis makes it seem like bromance but we never know...I feel like the “secret” might have something to do with Yoo Han. They wrote out the actor but not the character so he might return in other ways ;) Plus the introduction of the female mono leads me to believe Se Hyun might be a probe (maybe we’ll get a love triangle?).
Omg that scene where they were fighting and he thought she prepared him some food but she didn’t still gets me. It was so cold but so appropriate I felt really bad for him.
It took me 4 years to finish this drama and that’s with some skipping here and there too! It wasn’t very good...but it wasn’t Fashion King bad either. A lot of eye candy namely NJH but the plot was nonexistent and the story didn’t really go anywhere.
It was pretty slow throughout but there were moments that brought me back and made me want to continue watching. The climax in particular was done really well since the stakes were so high. I loved the bond between the Clown, Chief Secretary, Eunuch and Bodyguard. Their relationship was the heart of the show in my opinion. The romance was there but I didn’t feel much chemistry between the leads. The ending could have been more fleshed out and explained better...but at least it’s a happy ending.
I’ve watched a lot of historical dramas over the years and this one hands down still has the best political intrigue. The political/court battles and rivalry between the two female leads were nail biting good.
The story is simple but the chemistry is what elevates and sets this BL series apart from all of the new ones. Its short yet filling. It’s magical yet organic. Almost 2 years later and it’s still one of the best KBLs.
It started off great, the middle was a bit sluggish but the wow the last couple of episodes and the ending were spectacular. I got goosebumps during a certain scene ( you’ll know when you watch/see it).
I have to say I liked the relationship aspect of the drama more than the political/court stuff. The friendships between the court maids and the push and pull dynamic between the two leads made this drama extra special. She was stubborn while he was devoted til the very end.
I’ve always liked Lee Jun Ho in all of his projects but I think he delivered a career defining performance here.
