Lol. I don't know why, but this made me feel like I was back in Lewisham. :)

I actually just went back, listened to it again, and got a better sense of what they meant. (Edited it above.) It's actually quite sexual and beautiful.

Yeah, I'm afraid I have no idea what they were talking about. I'm not a native Japanese speaker, and I've only been learning the language for a short while, but I went back over that scene many times.

So far as I understand, the sense is something like: "Why should this body be unaccepted/unwanted/not enough, as it is meant to be bound with another in luxury." Or: “Why won’t this body do [for a partner], when here lies someone you can be with [sexually] as much as you want.” To which Hagiwara says: "Now's not the time to say this, I'll feel awkward/shy/self-conscious", and not, as the translation says, "It's cheating."

The sentence could be about either person, but, given how Sei looks and touches Hagiwara, he probably means him. As in: “your body should not be rejected, it is beautiful, it deserves sex, take me.” But he could also refer to himself. Either way, the connotations are very sexual. The suggestion is of their bodies craving sex, opening up, and mating.

But again, take it all with the caveat that I'm not a native speaker, and that I might be misinterpreting it. That said, this makes more sense to me than what the subtitles give. Don't you agree? God knows what the translators were smoking.

P. S. To those who speak Japanese, this is how I heard the sentence: こん体が入れない何で、贅沢にがつがいいるんだなって。Do correct me if I'm wrong!

I'm finding the subtitles actively infuriating.

Louder!!!!Both of them are hanging onto what isn't there. They should cut their losses and commit to each other.
Yes, but if they did that, but how will you drag it out for 3 more episodes? And how will you manufacture the obligatory 11-th hour crisis before our happy ending? :)

I know. They really need to invest in some subbers, or, like Viki, at least make it a community project. As it stands, it's terrible, and it's not going to bring them more subscriptions.

Lol. I also recognise it's a long read, for which I'm sorry. But, as you point out, I can dispense with KBL and…
Lol. Do tell me if I should give Hello Stranger a go!

You do realize that was a comedic review, right? I don't think someone would imitate God and seriously issue commandments. Also,…
Thank you!!! I debated for a while as to whether or not to reply point by point to the original comment, but I don't know what purpose it would serve when one has fundamentally misunderstood the nature, the tone, and the purport of the review. Plus, a joke explained ceases to be funny.

Strange. I have been beaten up for being gay, and, as you point out, spent my childhood in a country where, until recently, it was illegal to be gay. Yet, people on MDL constantly keep lecturing me about homophobia. I don't understand why. (Incidentally, the' realm' I referred to was not BL, but South Korea, which *is* virulently homophobic.)

To laugh at oneself is the beginning of wisdom. I suppose I'll leave it at that.

Thoughts about the sex scene and what is to come:
I don’t know about others, but I was quite underwhelmed by the sex scene, especially given the stakes here. And it has nothing to do with the fact that I have been waiting for this for a whole week, went on a diet, lifted weights, showered, scrubbed, and manicured, all in order to prepare myself for the Big Bang.

Are we to believe that Kazuara won’t even kiss his lover on the lips when fucking him? (No judgement, of course, if “no kiss” is your kink.) Are we to believe that it won’t be passionate, awkward, messy, and wet, instead of both of them lying there with their lips unsmudged, their Farrow & Ball make-up undisturbed, and not a strand of hair out of place? It did not help of course that Sei had no expression on his face, and lay there like a damp log in a haunted fireplace…

That said, my man Muto delivered. Being an idol, I was afraid there wouldn’t even be a kiss. But those kisses were tender, full, and great at conveying his burgeoning love. That was glorious.

I suppose we’ll have the inevitable 11-th hour crisis next week, before a happily-ever-after ending the week after. Not that I’m complaining about the latter. But I am quite done with the former.

In case you’re wondering, yes, the translation is quite awful.
In that emotional scene where Kazuaki does not want Sei to leave, Sei says: “What do we do now? It’s already done.” As in, we’ve already crossed a boundary. It's too late to turn back. Not, as the translation reads: “that’s already the case.” What does that even mean?

Worse, after that first tender kiss, Kazuaki says: “Oretachi baka de.” No one in their right mind would translate that as “we’re crazy.” He says, “we’re (just) fools”, as in love’s fools.

Not since Happy of the End has the subtitles of a show made me so mad.

Don't pay attention to the homophobes! Not worth it.

Lol. If only BL had a trade magazine, like Soap Opera Digest or Radio Times...
You mean, "The Flaunting of BL-y MAN-or"?

Oh, poor you! This is why I don't do "challenges" -- though watching this, by itself, is the definition of a challenge.…
Just at the top of this page! I just edited the previous review, and added the dialogue from the comment. Nothing new or anything! (Sorry!)
