Hmm... I think it's safe to say that LA and novel are two different beasts. Like what Meatbun said for HYX and 2HA, please treat them as two separate creation.
For ZZS and WKX character, I like character treatment they have in the LA. ZZH interpretation for ZZS character is really something. We can see thousand layers of ZZS character through ZZH interpretation.

I hope not. I'm on Weibo like almost everyday and I tend to check fans interaction in super topic also several entertainment accounts there, I can tell fans of SHL and the couple (LLD - Lang Lang Ding) is mature and reasonable enough. Unlike those popular fans in certain fandom that you mentioned, I see the interaction there is normal at the time being. Hopefully it will stay like that in the future.
2 nights ago WenZhou Wedding managed to be the #1 trending topic in weibo for a couple of hours due to some edit video but WOH/SHL fans (山人) managed to clear the keyword with funny and witty things such as "WOH is Wuxia", "WOH is telling us about the journey of an orphan boy named ChengLing." Lol!! They didn't want to put WOH in a risk of being taken down or blacklisted by GP and government. It was cute and nerve wrecking at the same time because many YXH (entertainment gossip accounts) creating small fraction there. But WOH fans stayed calm and keep filling the keywords with positive things about WOH.
Also I see the fans interaction between GJ fans and ZZH fans is unlike the fans of the leads in previous hit BL adaptation, they don't point finger between one another. It's perhaps also because the relationship between two leads actors on-screen and off-screen seemed genuine and fun. Also I see GJ and ZZH educating their fans for not doing irresponsible behaviors such as not causing ruckus in the airport and not buying things excessively, those small things are really appreciated because at the end of the day, the fan image might influence artist image too.

Yeah saw that and heard that a lot. The reason is because the image of ZZS in episode 1 is the same image they see in ZZH previous drama like Ruyi Pavilion and Yunxi, so nothing new. But me, I saw episode 1 as a bold opener for SHL and SHL story in general.
From the trailer, I don't think to watch the drama even though I can say now that I'm joining ZZH bandwagon after WOH/SHL. His acting here is not at current level yet (even though he's hot in this drama, lol). After his ZZS in WOH/SHL I don't think I could lower his acting standard TT TT

Yes, I read about that too. But the thing in China is, even though NRTA has decided to implement the rule, but the exact date when we never know. We still see drama like Legend of Fei last December having 50+ episodes, the recent Rebel Princess with 68 episodes and the upcoming Immortality drama is registered with 50 episodes.
Another article that I read about this also mentioned that OTT platform quota for the drama less than 40 episodes is 65% from the total contents. In the article that I read back then also mentioned the average length of a TV show in China has increased from from 30 to 40 episodes over the course of the last decade. Many popular shows available on Baidu’s iQiyi, Alibaba’s Youku, and Tencent Video include up to 90 episodes. The trend has led to celebrities being paid exorbitant appearance fees, adding pressure to production budgets. That's why 40% rule implemented.
Hopefully if this fully implemented we can see the emergence of more quality dramas and more casting opportunities for those talented actors out there. Because really, why do you have to insist of having big names if the result is not good. We see a lot of big budget drama with big names failed in the market because the story and the production quality is bad.

Yes me too. I used douban too to check on c-drama reviews and rating. Also I checked comments and top comments from the drama that I like there just to see how public said about the shows. The good thing about douban is, the users there always reminded people about 'not to fangirl about something' because they have super topic in weibo to do that. Also people in the industry took douban rating seriously as a benchmark. So far, I can say Douban is reliable source for c-drama rating. For example the production team of SHL cried with joy when they saw they got 8++ rating in douban.

IKR!! I went to several hit c-dramas here in MDL, majority of fans talked about how popular the actor is instead of the story. I admit I did watch several dramas based on the actor popularity as well but I think MDL is not the best place if you are about to flaunt your favoritism towards certain popular actor in the drama and creating fanwar. You should go to twitter instead
I think it's time for MDL to revisit the purpose of the site again because just like imdb or rotten tomatoes, we go there purely to check on reviews and people within the industry to talk about their views. I hope we can see the same here. For that we need decent and proper rating system and fix the algorithm perhaps?

yeah, because rating is really subjective. rating can goes up and down with many factors and sadly for most fans they give drama rating mostly based on their fave actors instead of the story and production value. :(
