WOH is indeed having what you call fanservice because of the script. TU script is different compare to WOH. Also didn't you realize when 10cent selling sugar (when promoting BL adaptation CQL/TU) is actually them selling real life CP instead of the story character LWJ and WWX? They are selling off-screen interaction between XZ and WYB instead. Same goes with HYX, they are selling off screen interaction between the leads LYX and CFY during 10cent Starlight Night last December. Is this wrong? No, but excessive selling real life CP instead of character CP isn't respecting the story imho.
Fanservice is important "on screen", but off screen is a turn off especially when you are hard selling it and pushing the same narration. You should promote the story instead.
TU is popular, but not so popular compare to popular drama in China and compare to MDZS donghua. MDZS donghua was a massive hit in China (2018) and the score given by GP in douban is 8.9. It has more than 3B views in 10cent platform alone.
For TU , how's GP reaction? High viewership for episode 1 and 2. I have valid data about that released by public broadcast agency in China. But after episode 3 the view is declining sharply until the end of the show. Also the score in Douban is peak at 7.7. The lowest compare to other MDZS adaptation. Even the audio drama is having 9.6 score.
Surely we don't want the same thing happening to TGCF live adaptation because thanks to its donghua, the work is well received by GP with 8.6 score in douban. Hopefully the producer and the network distribution can learn from that.

IMHO, 10cent is selling sugar not the story because that's what they did to every drama they produced. Especially in BL drama, they are focusing on the actors and sugar off screen interaction (CP), not to the story. It's not wrong, but you got to admit that people watched TU/CQL is because of the interaction between main couple (on screen and off screen) not the story itself.
You can see also the difference between Bilibili and 10cent when handling MXTX adaptation on screen. TGCF in Bilibli is script based and SVSS and TU-CQL in 10cent is visual based.
Why everyone seemed so concern about the cast? Please don't be. Surely we have our imagination in mind who's going to be Xielian and Huacheng but for me, I better put my hope on good scriptwriter. No matter how popular the cast is or how fit the cast is visually to the character we read in TGCF, or no matter how expensive CGI is, if the scriptwriter is mediocre then I'm sure it's not going to be good live adaptation

True this. I read many ancient genre danmei novels because of this reason. Love isn't about pda, romance or sexual activities but love is between two souls finding themselves as soulmate destined for life. The subtle sweet interaction between leads showing love goes beyond gender.
Also I would like to point out that In WOH/SHL, I give my standing ovation to director and actor treatment of WKX character. They walk the thin line of sexual advances vs sexual harassment - and it can be translated as one if it's not handling carefully. WKX character could’ve easily felt like a creep - but luckily thanks to actor and director's treatment, it never does. Amazing actor and director indeed!
