+1 on this. Don’t know how it would make sense as Yun Que is supposed to be younger and if GSJ is way older…
True it wasn't mentioned. I just assumed considering GSJ and GYZ's age difference and GZY and GYZ being closer in age. But yes, YQ being GSJ's assistant at that time is a twist I would like to see!

Thoughts on tonight’s episodes:

Elder Yue suddenly became attractive to my eyes in tonight’s episodes. Lol. And kudos to whoever guessed he was the mysterious prison visitor from earlier ep. I still don’t believe he is from Wufeng. All clues seem to just point out his connection to Wufeng is via Yun Que.

He definitely knows YWS is Wufeng and related to YQ. That’s why he covered for her with the truth grass. I need to rewatch to figure out how he knew but maybe he saw YQ’s necklace or something. The bracelet drop was definitely on purpose but what did he want to get out of it?

I like that we got to see more of YWS’s thoughts, but I wonder why she lied about liking GZY under the “truth grass”. But the antidote twist was so good! I felt YWS’s despair in that scene.

Also the fortnight flies finally made sense! Someone commented before that how could Wufeng send these “crippled girls” and expect them to make miracles. It turned out the supposed poison even enhances their internal skill, at the expense of a fortnightly Achilles heel. But yes, without the threat of the fortnight flies, it’s easier to see YWS firmly switching to GZY’s side.

It seems GSJ is really in for a heartbreak though. SGQ may seem to like GSJ but she also seems more practical than YWS when it comes to separating personal feelings from work lol.

And GZY finally making progress (seems too fast of a progress but it actually makes sense if he has photographic memory because everything will be naturally easier to him). If only this was brought up way earlier so we don’t actually feel cheated of his progress. He has always been capable, they just didn’t build it up properly ;(

Also I like Elder Yue’s comment about willing to believe and believing are two different things. GZY is not that blind after all, but he just chooses to trust YWS in spite of how suspicious she is. Just like how, despite her “spoken truth”, he still chose to bet on her feelings for him with the antidote, it’s the same thing in general, despite the suspicious things surrounding YWS, he still chooses to bet on her anyway. And if he loses, he wouldn’t even blame her. Good thing we already know he won’t lose ;)

Overall, the pacing still seems all of over the place but I think we are finally getting somewhere!

I think it was Yun Weishan’s little sister who was by Shangjue’s side when he tried the poison in the second…
+1 on this. Don’t know how it would make sense as Yun Que is supposed to be younger and if GSJ is way older than GZY, then he must have had the trial way back so wouldn’t YQ be way too young then? But for some reason, I also got the feeling that it was YQ with SJ at that time considering elder Yue’s meaningful pause.

2 hours 22 minutes 22 seconds to(2) go for 2 episodes!!!

Edit: Caught it in screenshot! I wish tonight's episodes would blow everyone's minds to the point that everyone is forced to focus only on the drama.

He is not a yellow guardian. He's Prince Hua (son or possibly grandson of elder Hua). I'm also wondering what…
Lol

But yeah, that's true. And also elder Hua not disclosing his source about black figure being a girl pretty much confirms he is flower boy, er playboy.

Ah yes. They're not Gongs. My brain just lumped everyone living in the valley as Gongs.

Front hill - Yu, Jue, Zhi, Shang

Back hill - Xue, Yue, Hua (and supposedly a Feng lineage but no details on this, just based on the chart that was published)

Does anyone know more about the Xio Hei character?? I only know that he is a yellow jade guardian, he is so mysterious…
He is not a yellow guardian. He's Prince Hua (son or possibly grandson of elder Hua). I'm also wondering what important role he has to play in the story. Maybe related to the weapon they have to use against Wufeng in the end? Because he always mention the importance of their weapon research to GZS.

I think we have everyone's background story now, so hopefully, really crossing my fingers, that the story picks up again. Because as much as I love this show, the last 2-3 episodes were slower in story progress in comparison to the earlier eps. There were a looot of flashbacks, but I guessed we needed them to get attached to the characters before the show kills them off lol

Aw, I hope it does for you later on! As their romance is one of the highlights of the show. But yeah, I do hope the show reveals more of YWS thoughts. I think it's about time she starts shedding off some of those mysteriousness lol

I personally don't think YWS is in love with him yet. It's too fast. I think she likes him sure but she's not…
This! For sure she is slowly growing feelings for him. Slowly.

On a scale of 1-10, I would say she's at a 6 as of episode 13. And maybe 7 if she reflects on how she reacted back at the brothel scene.

Actually, for me as of episode 13, on a scale of 1 to 10 on YWS's feelings towards GZY, I would give it a 6 and maybe 7 after the brothel scene.

I wouldn't really say she's in love with him yet, but becoming attached as mentioned in my comment above.

As it stands now, if Wufeng were to recall her and send her on another mission and never see GZY again, I think she still can.

At this point, she wouldn't want to hurt him, but not enough to the point of exchanging her freedom for him.

So I'm also excited for the rest of the episodes. We're still halfway after all. I'm on the lookout for when her 7 becomes a 10!

i'm curious for all here: are you sold on the main ml/fl romance??I think they are sweet but i'm mad they seemed…
Continuation lol

And now 5 episodes later, whether she's aware of it or not, YWS is slowly becoming more attached to GZY.

When ZiYu saved her and kissed her, afterwards, you can see her looking at him with soft eyes even when he's not looking. Contrary to what everyone might expect of an assassin, as per her sister's word, YWS is actually "girlish". And versus GZY who's nothing but kind and sincere, I can understand why he is slowly breaking down whatever barrier YWS has put up.

When JF locked her in the room and GZY asked her about her supposed betrayal, she was conflicted. During their conversation with a door in between, GZY cannot see her, but we see YWS emotional and conflicted. Because I think even if she's still partly putting on an act in general, part of her also doesn't want him to think she did betray him.

For me their development is not sudden. When one party is sincere and the other is scheming, you would think the innocent party will lose. But only if the scheming party is truly evil. But in this particular pair, YWS is actually a girl at heart (again as per her sister when she asked YWS what she wanted), and faced with GZY's kindness and sincere affection, YWS is the one that will lose.

I especially love the latest development. During the brothel scene, I don't think brothel assassin lady had really wanted to hurt ZY at that time. It didn't make sense. It was too early, nothing has been set in place and they were still planning. And it would risk ruining YWS's mission and it's too early for that. They still need her. So maybe it was a test or something, to feel YWS out.

But in that short moment, YWS actually panicked.

When she realised there was even a tiny chance that they would hurt ZiYu, she panicked. She looked terrified and angry and helpless, that's why tears fell on their own. Those weren't for show either because she wiped them quickly before GZY could see them. And HYS's reaction is even more telling. To say he was surprised is an understatement.

So even though YWS is still set on her mission, she's still partly putting an act (keyword is partly whether she's aware or not), but YWS is also slowly becoming attached to her target.

I had lost my original comment, but this is what I wrote as of episode 8 as to YWS's development with GZY:

At first, YWS is very deliberate as to her approach to GZY (all her actions were aimed at luring him in). At first, that was all there is to it. She got him. Hook, line and sinker. And she knows it. But GZY isn't what she imagined. He's sincere and truly kind. We first see YWS looking at GZY with new eyes when he rushed to stand in front of her, to protect her, BEFORE her identify was confirmed. Then he just had to follow that up with the medicine and the cute pillow tuck in during the smoke fiasco. When she touched the fox tail ornament, she actually looked confused (and this time it's genuine, but we gain new information about YWS thoughts and feelings). And when she looked at GZY from where she was lying down, we know something had started to form. And we know this to be true because when they had their first long conversation, YWS ended up sharing something personal (more personal than GZY will ever guess). Somehow, when GZY is involved, YWS ends up becoming emotional and revealing something personal (either to GZY or to us the audience). And this trait is not found in her first mode (the original YWS in #1). But when she's with GZY, his actions make her remember her moments with her sister. Why? Because both care for her and when she feels GZY affection, she remembers her sister's as well. And that's why it's only with GZY that YWS gets to become her true self ("girlish" as her sister said). The YWS in front of GZY may have been originally an act, but now with each episode, as we witness YWS witness GZY's kindness and sincerity, she is also slowly responding with hers.

And truly, I'm excited to watch YWS coming to terms with her feelings (something she has set aside most of her life, probably more so when her sister died). We're still a third of the way, but judging from what we've seen so far, I don't think I have to fear about YWS killing GZY. She may even protect him with her life. And as for GZY, we don't even have to guess what lengths he'll go to in order to protect her.

Re: the comment that called YWS ruthless and why she shed tears during the confrontation when she is not an "emotional robot" lol

YWS is not "ruthless". She is strategic, meticulous and only does things that serve her best interest (which is understandable considering her situation), but she never does it at the expense of innocent people. I have yet to see a scene where she is shown to be ruthless.

Even the times when she had poisoned the original chosen bride and planted the poison powder in another bride's room, it was never to harm them (the first was to get the bride medical attention so the other deadlier and more undetectable poison SGQ gave her will be discovered in time, and the latter was to get the bride with the asthma out of the miasma-filled valley and back to her family). Even towards SGQ - YWS shared her knowledge about the route and patrol so SGQ can roam the place, YWS didn't open the hidden weapon when she found the pouch (SGQ even thanked her because it could have gotten her in trouble had she done that), YWS volunteers to share the antidote with SGQ (even though she was going out of the residence at such high risk).

That's also why YWS is a chi, regardless of her ability. Because there are probably plenty of nasty things she has to do to "upgrade", but she doesn't care for all of that.

And with ZiYu, even though YWS is acting in front of him, whether she knows it or not, this act is crumbling. We have been shown multiple occasions where YWS was soft and vulnerable (a genuine reaction to GZY's sincerity towards her). And I say genuine because on some of these soft moments, GZY is not even looking at her (the moment she first saw him differently - during the bride identity verification, when he saved her and kiss her and afterwards, you can see her looking at him with soft eyes even when he's not looking. And when she was locked up in the room when she supposedly betrayed him and they had that conversation with a door in between, GZY cannot see her at all but we see YWS emotional and conflicted, because even if she was still putting on an act, part of her doesn't want him to think she did betray him. She has already mentioned to SGQ that at the end of the day, YWS will fail GZY/she will let him down. She would not phrase it that way if she was "ruthless".

And the latest scene is proof that her act is slowly crumbling. I bet the brothel assassin lady had never really wanted HYS to pull the trigger. It didn't make sense for them to hurt GZY early in the game, when nothing has been set in place and plans are still forming. It would only sabotage YWS's mission and I don't think they want that, at least not yet anyway. But in that short moment, calculating YWS panicked. When she realised there was even a tiny chance that they would hurt ZiYu, she panicked. She was terrified and angry and helpless, hence the tears. It was real. She didn't even show GZY those tears, wiping it quicker than you could blink. YWS is still set on her mission, she's still partly putting an act (keyword is partly whether she's aware or not), but YWS is also slowly becoming attached to her target and that is as clear as day (but another keyword is slowly, I don't think she's in love with him yet. I give her a 6 or maybe even 7 as of ep 13 as to her feelings for GZY, but she is definitely slowly starting to have them).

Anyway, I can describe YWS any other word, but never ruthless. She just wants simple things, a simple life, freedom, her sister, and I think as the story progresses, ZiYu's safety.
