haven't seen it! when I take a quick look at the mdl reviews tho.....I see people saying it actually focuses more on side characters instead of the female lead which is kinda the opposite of what I'm looking for 😅

people only caring about the male lead and praising the male actor while sh*tting on the FL 🙃

makes no sense to me, how can people call this drama a masterpiece if they don't even like or sympathize with one of the main characters and don't even root for the romance cuz they think TTJ is better off w.o her? might as well not even have any FL in the show, just 40 episodes of LYX spitting blood and looking pretty and people would be happier right lol

if anyone has any good recommendations for costume cdrama with the female character is truly the protagonist, well written and a lot of spotlight and gets a lot of love (aka attention) I would love to hear them 🙏

I mean he is not wrong in thinking that his activities could put her in great danger, as his involvement gets more and more serious especially now with the king's involvement. after all he doesn't know that she herself has status.....to him she is just a maid who could end up being collateral in his plans. she too is hiding stuff from him and trying to protect him. they are being noble idiots together 😂

i liked getting to see some other characters get more screentime, it has been like 75% han su so far and ily do hwan but I could use a break to see some others lol

thank you for saying this, 100% agree with you. this is the TTJ show for most viewers and it seems they don't even wanna try to sympathize with anything else. unfortunately the overall weak writing for the FL in the show doesn't help but still people have been so bold with their hateful comments 💀

I understand your point and the frustration of waiting for short episodes but I also understand releasing slowly. when you release all at once or drop a 120 minute movie there isn't the time to build up an engaged fandom and get people talking about your show which could lead to more views etc. look at how popular The Eighth Sense got through word of mouth/social media.......that took time to happen and probably would not be the same if they had dropped all episodes to binge. so even with the shorter episodes I think they want that same domino effect

I agree this works better in part cuz of the longer length but just want to point out it is not as simple as saying "other studios please take note." they don't make short kbls just cuz they want to or refuse to make them longer lol it is because of budget and production issues. SK is still a very conservative country and doesn't have a bl industry like thailand for example, I'm sure they all would love to have resources to make full length dramas but it is more complicated than simply wanting to do it

that would make the most sense. when I looked at the tweet everyone seemed to be believing it and nobody questioning the translation or context so I felt quite confused. but it seems completely unrealistic to just spoil the ending like that so I will believe this is the most likely case!

I LOVE dramas that are messy and tragic actually but for me this one has just got a bit too repetitive to the point of being boring. only so many episodes I can feel bad for TTJ suffering over the same things over and over lol. i'm immune to him being sad and spitting blood at this point

I would prefer for this to have a tragic ending that is well thought out rather than a bullsh*t 5 second happy ending they add on last minute just to keep the audience from exploding

if a happy ever after is included I hope it's because that was the original vision

this whole thing of changing the ending last minute, posting multiple endings and extra epilogue behind a paywall and what not that cdrama does is frustrating to me. just write your ending and stick with it!

an 8.9 rating is very good and all the episode ratings are already 9.5+ why are you guys all so unhappy with the rating lol

love this show but I do agree with most of your criticisms, especially the last one. I just had a big question mark on my face that whole scene......"no I never thought about it" huh?!?!??
I almost wondered if it was bad translation or I was missing something. making it seem like ji hyun hadn't even considered jae won's reasons when ofc they all but showed us that he was dwelling on his behavior.......yeah made no sense 😅

I see your point but on the contrary I actually found that sudden out of ordinary close up really effective.....for me it mimics the feeling of being so overwhelmed with the things that keep piling up that you can't help but break down even as you desperately try to hold in your tears. imo it was less of "hey look at how sad this is" gimmick and more of just increasing the claustrophobia of the moment...and also a way to let us get in personal with a character whose personal journey hasn't been as documented cuz it's not her story

but I ofc agree the actress is spectacular, honestly stole the show in some ways and I hope I can see her in something again!

yep agreed. it's definitely hard to let go of these characters but it is for the best. I feel they set out to tell a certain story and they told it, so let's not push it just to push it bc the show is popular. the only way I'd feel ok with a s2 is if they had something like that in mind from the start. even so it would be much better to see what else this team could come up with ☺️

yes, I still think they went a little too far in making Eun Ji basically have no redeeming qualities.....but since we had two other amazing female characters I can let it slide a little 😅 and it has to be said the actress who plays Eun Ji did a great job in a role basically inviting hate, so I do applaud her for her effort!
