Watched the first episode. Jeez. It is not bad, but sure as hell not in one league with Nirvana in Fire. Too much…
LoL … I've played with the Video adjustment on my TV a few times trying to get rid of those "weird colors" or at least improve on the color palette. And the makeup is really bad … everyone's face has too much rice powder on > ghostly complexion. I also agree that this drama is not of the high caliber that NiF belongs in … "Each to his own …." Have watched 2 eps and may drop it, but husband is Mandarin-speaking Chinese and would like to give a few more episodes before dropping.
Ok. I like this drama, but this "deer in the headlights"-look on her face gets boring after the 147th…
ha! ha! Totally agree. She is very attractive with big eyes; however, "too much of a good thing …." Also I am getting totally fed up with the Crown Prince playing the Clinging Vine.
Finished 14 eps. Definitely nowhere near a "10" but very addictive due to Lee So Yeon's strong performance. Even though I agree that "some events were forced into the storyline" … at least the writer(s) did a good job keep the characters consistent (in their behavior).
I also find Yoon Jae Hee annoying … perhaps because of Hong Soo Hyun's subpar acting. She was much better in The Princess' Man.
Lastly, this drama "could've been better" by keeping it to 16 eps.
this one start out really nice... but after episode 15-16, it becomes repetitive and too draggy. which is common…
I don't believe it's the "writers … don't know how to properly settle into the ending …." They just run out of ideas when dramas get extended. Why the extension? More money.
I do agree that acting in K-dramas is of a higher caliber, generally speaking, than other Asian dramas.
Interesting to read all the comments. I watched about 10 mins and thought, "Hmm, this looks good." After…
Ineta: Thank you for your encouragement. However, with so many dramas/movies/shows still to watch, I will pass this one by (I watch TV only 2 no more than 3 hrs a day). Another thing, you are still in HS and my HS days were lived many, many years ago … thus, difference in opinion < generation gap ;)
@Mexu2d: I read reviews and comments as a "reference point" only. I do not let others' opinions sway my choices, be it drama-to-watch, book-to-read, action and/or reaction to take …. I made the decision not watch this drama because of the many comments on how this drama "started to drag" and "why the extension" from the planned 16-eps to 20 eps. Too many K-dramas nowadays are following that path
This has become so repetitive, I'm constantly yawning or should I say "Yeon Hee"ing :P No idea how much…
Any drama you would recommend (K-J-C)? I noticed you have Nirvana in Fire as one of your Favorites. I think that drama has spoiled me.Since finishing that, I haven't been able to find a drama of similar or close-to calibre. I have been watching some Korean Reality/Variety shows lately because ...

This is just another drama that starts out well and then drags on for too long > typical of so many K-dramas produced in the last several years. The Fast Forward button on my TV remote is getting a lot of "wear and tear."
Thanks for your review. I am definitely in the minority for rating this a "6." It started out as a "9 or above" drama for me, then by Ep 13, I started fast forwarding due to the same flashback scenes repeated over and over and over …. The ending made no logical sense to me. I just couldn't buy into the "warnings/signals" going back and forth (in the last episode) to change the past, and thus the future.
At any rate, I was curious to see if you had watched Nirvana in Fire … and, yes, you did! Like me, you gave a 10 to NiF. To date, this drama has the best script: no inconsistencies and nothing "fell through the crack."
