It was a really nice Drama and I loved the strong chemistry ...just...it were two different person Literally.…
I started watching this because I've enjoyed PBY, JJS and IJH in their other dramas, but it was Kim Seul Gi who surprised me with her superb acting. As for Sun Woo's caring for Bong Sun "even before she was possessed," to me it was like a boss who wanted to be a good mentor to a shy employee. Then … the ending: the romance between those two = I also feel as you do … not realistic. Their relationship is more like a big brother and a cute little sister. Although the acting overall was excellent, I could not give this drama higher than a "7."
Thanks for your review. I have this on PTW … just not in mood for dramas right now.
Although I gave a 4.5 to The Best LSS and considered it a waste of my time, I finished the drama only because of Jo Jung Suk who did very well with his role. And, Park Bo Young was a joy to watch on A Werewolf Boy and Scandal Makers = one of the best actresses now.
I am also a fan of his and have watched several of the dramas/movies you mentioned. I particularly enjoyed My Girl, Wild Romance and Partner. In all three, I felt he had really great chemistry with his Female Leads and, thus, the quality of acting by all was superb.
A simple story. I enjoyed it … there are some silly moments … but, a good change from Kdramas … no spiteful…
I live in the US … I subscribe to Amazon Prime which includes a wide selection of free Instant Videos. I see more recent posts (see below) which indicate that this is also available on Hulu Plus.
For those with AppleTV, it is now there under KorTV. They added KBS and it is there.
dramacool has a huge selection, but their u/l videos are usually of lesser quality than other sites … so, I use them only if I am desperate to watch a drama which is only available there. Thanks.
Kim Hae Sook is one of my fav K-actresses. It's interesting that the 3 dramas in which I remember her performance the best, you did not list a single one of them. She "wow'd" me in the 1999 "Hur Jun," in 2010 "Life is Beautiful" and in the 2011 Go! Mrs. Go" … 3 very different roles.
I watched all three … dropped Wakamono Tachi and Wonderful Mama. Although WT seemed like a good family drama, all that shouting wore me out so I dropped it. I enjoyed the first 1/3 of WMama, but the drama got draggy and I couldn't stay with it. However, "Stars" was so enjoyable that this is the only drama I've rewatched in its entirety … it never got draggy … and, of course, the kids were sooooo adorable!
I just started this drama. Have seen several Jdramas and found that many of them have acting style that mimics what characters do in manges/animes. It is a style that I don't particularly care for at times when I am watching a drama. However, the one thing I like about Jdramas is that they are 8 to 12 episode long … they focus on one main story … do not have "fillers" like Kdramas which I find really annoying and then start to FF.
And I have also found the "romance" in Jdramas to be lackluster … that's due I believe to the Japanese culture which "tends to emphasize conformity, humbleness and emotional suppression, traits that are thought to promote better relationships." (several studies' findings)
Wow! I'm at episode 10 and it's so boring. I'm very disappointed. :/ Also I can't stand the lead girl portrayal,…
You are the 1st person I've run across to comment negatively on Han Ji Min's acting. I dropped this drama at Ep 33 because I could not watch her anymore. I have seen her in 4 other dramas out of which there was only one I enjoyed = Jewel in the Palace because she was in Supporting Role.
I too enjoyed this drama and can still remember every detail after 4 years! It's a "crime" that this drama has not received a wider audience and a higher rating.

Just finished this last night … VG drama. Does anyone here read Japanese and can help me find out if the last episode where the Emperor's Cook actually gave in to that "American Jerk" and "played a duck" … is based on a historical fact? I found a few websites in Japanese that seems to give an accurate bio on Takuzo Akiyama (found those sites by searching for "wife of takuzo akiyama" -- did she really die at such a young age?)
I like watching taiwanese dramas , but their damn background music and random instrumentals really pisses me off
I am with you re the "damn background music and …." I am a Taiwanese-American and would like to watch more T-dramas, especially the ones where Taiwanese is spoken. However, who can hear the dialogue due to the background noise … seriously annoying!
I noticed that you have actually watched many T-dramas and even rated some 8 to 10. Any of those you can recommend?

Heartbreaking, yet heartwarming.
