Jung Yoo Mi definitely deserves a Best Actress award! Her acting had that "perfect pitch" throughout the drama … never overacting. I saw her in Wonderful Mama and although I dropped that, I was already quite impressed by her acting. And, Kim Dong Wook impressed me with his acting here, showing a broad range to his ability = versatility = different from his characters in Coffee Prince and Dandelion Family. As for Oh Ji Ho … he deserves more credit than some members have given him. I've watched Couple or Trouble and he was quite good in a romantic/comedic role … great chemistry between him and Han Ye-seul.
I'll have to give this drama a watch … because of Im Joo Hwan. I thought he was great in Tamra the Island, but dropped Ugly Alert … not because of him (he was still great), but the drama started to drag for me.
This is a big blow to the drama world. I'm sure many of us are wearing virtual black. But the fact remains that…
I was just in the process of replying to E Leandra when you posted your well-written explanation. I am a Premium Member at DramaFever because I understand that we cannot continue to look for a Free Ride … even in DramaLand ;-)
Guys we need to do something about this or we won't have any dramasite left pretty soon. If anybody knows who…
If more viewers are willing to pay, then more websites would be willing to pay to get "Licensed." What it boils down to is that those sites (gooddrama, mysoju, etc) were actually "pirating" dramas that do have copyrights!
Although I agree that gooddrama has a huge selection of movies/dramas, I for one will not miss them: their u/l's of dramas/movies in parts was inconvenient … sometimes I had to watch an ad even within the same episode … and, the video quality was subpar.
Try myasiantv, as suggested by mariskaviska. Although that site has fewer dramas and movies, many are available in 720p … free (for now) and no ads. Another site is soompitv, but there is a charge to watch ad-free and/or better video quality (like dramafever and viki).
Thanks for your well-written review … I won't waste my time on this: (1) "lack of … character development," and (2) Han Ji Hye … seen her in
two dramas and did not think much of her acting.
It's interesting to see the scores given here go from a 10 to a 3. I started watching yesterday because of Kim Mi Sook. I "discovered" her when I watched Shining Inheritance and thought she was a superb actress. Having watched Golden Bride, I am now positive she is one of the best veteran actresses/actors.
Dramas like this one … the acting is very important since the story is nothing new or original. Except for Lee Sang Woo, I am not familiar with any of the younger cast although I am familiar with the "veterans" who play the Grandparents and the Parents
Excuuuuse me … "for Korean ahjummas who have very old fashioned values"?! Won't it be kinder and more accurate to say "…who have traditional values"???
I watched King's Family and enjoyed that … have watched only 1 episode of this drama and thought that episode was good.
Dropped this drama after seeing too many minutes of Gong Jun Soo (played by Im Joo Hwan) running because he suddenly…
I have watched a few family dramas and this is one of my fav genre. However, I did not find this one that enjoyable and did not want to invest any more of my time on it.
Congrats on such a well-written review! I watched the first 30 eps and skipped to the last 3 eps … I could appreciate the quality, but to me 45 eps would have been a better length.
Your critic on acting/casting was spot on … because I totally agree with your assessment ;-) ... Park Sang Min and Jung Bo Suk were awesome! Brain-damaged SungMo was so well-portrayed by PSM … a lesser actor would have made him more of a pathetic rather than tragic figure. And Jung BS … I am currently watching High Kick 2 ... his role is that of a henpecked husband (not just by wife but also by father-in-law) … and wow! his acting ability is very impressive.
Enjoyed this drama a lot despite my blacklisted actress PMY lol
Ha! ha! I also do not care for PMY. Actually watched ep 1, but my husband did not care for this drama. After reading your comment, I will have to go back and watch this. I thought Ji C-W was very good in Smile, Dong Hae.
I notice this is a sitcom...I cannot abide canned laughter, is it present in this show...?
Watched 4 episodes … no canned laughter, but a rooster crows in the background every so often. Watchable if you are looking for a sitcom where the characters "grow or mature" as the drama continues. (see globalee's 10/16/13 comment)
I avoid Noona-romance dramas … didn't particularly enjoy Dal Ja's Spring nor I Hear Your Voice. However, after reading your review, I plan to watch this drama soon, very soon. I have finished 7 episodes of "Giant" (a revenge drama) and need a break from all that blood and gory.
Also, Uhm Jung Hwa is a very good actress … she and Ji Jin Hee were so good together in The Man Who Can't Get Married.
Overall it was good, nothing impressive but it knows which cards to play. Perhaps I would appreciate it more if…
Ha Ha! You are funny … but not very consistent about not liking kids' acting. I noticed you gave a "10" to Giant. I'm currently on Ep 8 and Gangmo is still a major player. To each her own!

I agree with you about the characters being caricaturist … the Father's action at times were exaggerated, almost manga-like. I nevertheless enjoyed this drama because I realize from the beginning that even though this drama is a "Slice of Life," it did take a rather unrealistic (= optimistic) approach … but, that's okay … it's a drama after all.
Have you watched "Beautiful Rain"? I enjoyed that one more because I was drawn more emotionally into that story.
love the first episode <3 Suh Joon Young!!!!! <3 I'll continue watching <3 - in a family drama craze…
Thank you … but the "Only You" drama is the 2005 … dramanice.com also has the 2005 Only You, not this 2011 drama. I was very impressed with Park Jeong Ah in "Smile, Dong Hae" so want to watch this one

Thanks for taking time out to review this drama.
