Title The Double
Its a good political drama with intricate schemes and strong characters.

Unfortunately for me it was a consecutive mistake, to watch a drama where romance takes a backseat. It is really hard to judge a highly rated drama to have what you want and I just took it in stride.

Romance wise it is a tease fest that they keep on to hook people like me. I figured it out very late, around the time the first kiss was implied, and my expectations just hit rock bottom, then and there. I simply didn't care about the plot line afterwards at all. Such high tension and you choose to omit it, only to have it in the infamously rushed, last episode, why?

When it happened, my reaction was simply, oh, they did it, ok...

Similarly, the special would surely appeal to die hard fans but frankly it was too low quality and shallow, it was after all just 5 minutes long containing multiple scenarios. Like a consolation prize.

The shift of perspective from FL to ML's father plot line came too late for me to care.

So I just gave it a safe rating of 8/10. I want to remember it as a good drama but not worthy of being in my list.

She masturbated, lol.A totally nonsense plot line.
She died for a difference reason. It was just like ML's situation but worse.

She vied for approval from her parents but they shut her down because they could not bear to accept someone who was so different from them.

Her medical situation further aggravated their excessively overprotective and isolationist tendencies. In the hopes, she could be shaped in their image, some day. This is the reason she felt increasingly ashamed of her existence.

As one of the saying goes in the show: Mistrust of your children is a curse on their lives.

The masturbation was a kind of a release for her. Any human can understand this. Though the extension of once in a blue moon masturbation, to a sex addict, by the ML and affirmed by the FL was too much nonsense.

By their standards, any healthy teenagers' puberty situation would have been akin to a sex monster then, lol.

Similarly her interaction with the predator was predicated on this desire to be accepted. Further trying to appease him was again trying to retain someone who legitimatizes her continued existence. A really low point.

This also shown that the leads intervention was essentially inconsequential and their sacrifice as well as effort for naught. Only if the ML had gotten romantically involved with her would she have chance at life.

Even though romance seems to be the main focus as it is mentioned in the genres, its actually just a side plot so don't be deceived.

The ML is a Buddha and there is simply no movement till E27, yep over half way across. There is not even a single kiss scene, an implied one, yes. The leads romance content won't even make a single episode when combined.

The secondary couples have a really long courtship that culminates in the last episode. So you have couples with all courtship and the lead couple with none.

Rest is a slice of life and an informational video about Traditional Chinese Medicine. Which is intriguing at first, then a chore later.

The plots go downhill in the second half, in the last ~15 episodes. There is a certain level of nonsense that just follows from there onward.

There is a plot line which supposedly serves to develop the ML but its dragged too much and really doesn't culminate into anything more than sadness. It also gets the nonsense treatment from the plot and then justice warrior treatment from the FL.

The FL to the end remains a reckless individual and there is no evidence shown that affirms her maturity, instead, the characters around her always accommodate her and she never experiences lasting consequences.

There is another blunder in the last half, a misunderstanding is caused by one of the mains, which gets forcefully extended to many episodes. Seemingly for no reason at all this is continued to make the lead couple not get together, and torture them, while the pandemic rages.

Though I really liked the Master and his cute wife dynamic. Even their grandparents were awesome characters.

I think this drama without the intricacies of TCM, would have been a great show. For now its an 8/10, not something I would like to rewatch.

Me too, I am finding this TCM thing, completely boring. Is there any romance at all? I am E27 and it has not even…
I too like slice of life but there has to be a strong romance at some point to keep me interested.
Very odd choice to not do a kiss scene when ZLS has done so before with other actors.
Oh well, that just means that romance is only slight.

Me too, I am finding this TCM thing, completely boring.

Is there any romance at all? I am E27 and it has not even started!

Is there courtship and perhaps some sweet moments that if taken separately can be a good amount? If not I sure don't want to waste more time.

I came for ZLS romance but its a slice of life. The plots are interesting though. Just the theory exposition is too much.

I am half way through the series but the worst character i found is Ren Xin Zheng. He is doing so many right things…
Its totally fine to wish for a normal relationship, not every body is out to do great things nor do they have to.

The way the character of Ren is portrayed is how many older generation males behave in Asian culture. Its very normal and similarly women attitudes and norms have their differences. Chinese dramas depict Chinese culture and are made for a Chinese audience.

Still generally people like Ren are the ones who make civilizations prosper. Incite change in the literal sea of normals. The sacrifice of self ultimately happens regardless of demographics.

Yes, that's exactly what I meant, as there was no hope in her scenario, there was no logic to carry it and thus, be sad about it.

Unless she changed herself drastically, she would not be able to achieve success. Essentially suck up to the same superior and bide her time till she achieves the position she desires and then switch to some other workplace. It demanded a different kind of strong mentality.

Such things are very common in a competitive workplace environment as is in Korea, it only gets discovered in time and demands adaptation if one's personality allows.

Perhaps I see it this way because its very often the case even in my social setting that people are undermined and their hopes are shattered one way or the other unless they adapt and struggle harder till they achieve a commanding position of power.

A workplace where everyone is good, is a miraculous idealistic place that rarely exists because of zero law enforcement. Korea is similar in this way, though law exists and is enforced, the results are drastically lenient for the rich.

Well they do have the cultural aspect of Karoake and drinking parties, I don't think its that far from physical assault in a violent manner when anger hits.

Those dancing and drinking parties really make me throw up, how can the ladies even accept that... Its one thing to deal with corporate drama in the office, its another to even deal with it in casual life.

Well Korea is a hierarchical society but at least they are not submissive to the extent of the Japanese. I guess that invigorates the violence aspect. Whereas Japanese can be controlled by conformity and the obligation of respect and shame.

Yes, I can agree to it to an extent.

I consider it misplaced as it should be anger, not depression or sadness. She has already gone through this once and have quit the organization, effectively abandoning any chance of success through them.

I have seen the series many times now. I still don't agree.

The problem here is that the sadness and anger that you mention has already occurred before she quit so that high point has already been endured.

It only would have made sense if she had remained in the hospital for there to be any prospect of getting influenced by his success, but she quit, essentially abandoned the line to get promoted or any further points of success in that organization.

She could have hung her head low, sucked up, and got to the position eventually someday. That scenario could have justified these bouts of extreme sadness and rage.

I strongly not recommend watching this pile of horse dung of a sequel. I couldn't believe how they ruined the drama!

Even though the main stars are as great as usual even Lee Joon Gi. When they are on screen, the show lives somewhat. I think Shin Sae was miscast here as the character Tanya is a strong, boyish, headstrong, kind as well as scheming character, not the cute, somewhat strong willed, feminine personality, she exudes.

And my GOD, how they ruined Saya!

The rush is real, hell there is no foreshadowing, no explanation, no feelings. You are forced to jump through plots in a rapid fashion as if the production team was being forced under extreme duress to complete the storyline.

Hell there are not even preludes showing change of day to night and vice versa, lol. You may jump from day to night in a snap. Large plot devices unravel many times in a single episode. its like shopping at a flea market!

Its was much like experiencing hell like GoT final season gave me. Just like how I fast forwarded that, but I guess the momentum of so many seasons did get me to the end. Here though, I just couldn't take it!

Why does this only have 2 cases? 🥲
This is the Netflix way of playing it safe. There will be another season if the ratings are right.

MDL is filled by people like you and me with a good source as evidence. Its not something officially maintained.

If only! There is 0 nudity! I don't know which conservative society you come from and have been mistaking TV-14 romance with softcore porn.

Its more of an adult romance, her age suits such a mature theme. Its still far safer than what Koreans term as an adult romance. There you can be sure to have partial to full frontal nudity. But still its just nudity, far cry from porn.

8/10

Dissatisfied with the ending really, its one romance where I strongly detested the leads getting together.

Their mindsets are very different, the ML is completely devoted to the relationship, while the FL is erratic, and is currently in the phase/fad of proving herself as a strong independent woman.

Netflix! What can one expect, they always try to turn the tide towards these obscure topics. Making problems out of non-problems. Decades of NGO work couldn't brainwash people enough that Netflix did in a few years.

Albeit this strong woman is already cemented in reality of Koreans, as a very compromised reality. Unless you have strong backing by the elites/oligarchs/chaebols/rich (whatever label you prefer). Another decadent pseudo democratic society completely strangled by capitalism and hierarchy subservience...

Essentially FL is not relationship material till she "finds herself", which may well be quite late in her 40s. like her boss. Or maybe she will never be such and may just keep on changing men as is the norm nowadays with groups enriched with such concepts.
