A question to episode 5 for these of you, who understand Japanese: At around minute 1:55 into the episode, after Watarai’s confession, which concluded in “be … friends”. The translation of Hioki’s inner musings before their handshake says “… a relationship, where we don’t have to hold back? Right?” Is the translation correct? Or did some (additional?) meaning got lost in translation? Perhaps even before, with how the confession got translated? I have the nagging feeling of missing some subtext. 😅
yeah, no sympathy here if he really did it even “just” a thigh its still crossing a line. doesn’t matter…
“… current fantasies of what constitutes "consent" and "sexual assault." “ … some chick who goes out boozing with an idol decides after the fact that she now has an opportunity to get some attention and score some big bucks” You couldn’t sound more judgmental if you tried.
At the end of the day neither of us was there, so who are we to judge.
And we are talking Japan here. A culture, which to my knowledge, has strict rules about skinship and a country, where women til today struggle to get justice after even documented assault cases. There are changes, but it’s slow. And women most of the time don’t report it, because of the societal judgement and pressure. So save face and don’t be a disturbance are major factors in Japan. And that woman not only obviously reported it (which takes guts in every society), but the prosecution pressed charges and a judge ruled a guilty verdict and a penalty, even if it’s a smaller one.
Unwanted advances, even these perceived “harmless” touches, in a sexual or violent context, can stay with you and make you feel uncomfortable and dirty, even if “nothing more” happened. Boundaries are to be respected. Period.
Your profile states male, so the odds are partially in your favor, but it can’t be ruled out. So I wish for you, that you never make these kind of unwanted experiences.
Dear Diary,I am currently sprawled on the floor, emotionally deceased, spiritually deranged, and physically vibrating…
🤣🤣🤣 You’re more dramatic than the drama itself. But keep your entries coming. I love your kind of recaps. 👏🫶🏼 And I love their cuteness to pieces, too. 🥰
Does handsome people really fall in love with naive dork who speaks very slowly? One thing i didn't get, japan…
Handsome describes an appearance, naive a personality trait. Handsomeness can get ugly really quickly, if the personality isn’t up to par. So I guess your real question is, if handsome people really can fall in love with perceived less attractive people. Yes, they can. And yes, they do. They might not be the majority, but it happens all the time. Why? Beauty lies in the eye of the beholder. And is only one (smaller) part of the attraction equation. More importantly for the long run are the character traits. If they match. Takara seems jaded, but caring, under his aloofness. Can I see a jaded person fall for a naive soul? Yes. Don’t underestimate the allure of an innate kind and positive personality, which seems not compromised by life’s daily ugliness.
I am only an occasional BL drama watcher. But I am so happy to have stumbled across this one today on TT. Watched all episodes in one go. I LOVE it. Threw me back in the torture mill of one 20 minutes episode per week. 😭
Episode 5 was a little slow for my taste because Seon Ho bores me as a character so far. I hope, his personality gets more passionate about something. But episode 6 brought all the feels. 😂🙄🤦🏻♀️🥹😢😘
Don’t yell at me 😁😂 but I’m not sure i can see chemistry with HMH and TSY 😩 she looks more like his…
Nuh, you’re not alone. I have my struggles with TSY, too. Something about her face/person gives old fashioned, very matured vibes for me. I watched her with Xu Kai in a modern drama last. Both their acting was good, but the chemistry was lacking imo. They were supposed to be the same age, but she looked more mature the whole time, and it messed with my impression of them as a couple. She’s 35. Why still casting her as a “young girl”? (Source: synopsis) The actresses may look ageless nowadays, but the eyes are a giveaway nonetheless. China has an abundance of younger talented actresses who deserve a chance, too. But, 🤷🏻♀️, I will definitely give the drama a chance, and hope, that their acting (and perhaps some filters, LOL) will prove my doubts wrong.
Just rewatched episode 34, when MY went to Situ trying to find the wood for the antidote and he put her in wedding attire. LYX’s acting during that part was exceptionally well done, when you keep in mind the twist at the end. Her mimics and mannerisms - skillfully acted.

Just need to drop my appreciation here. 👏👏👏

How Taishin seeks Takara out reminds me of “An Incurable Case of Love” (not a BL).
They’re too effing cute! 🥰
And Hioki’s thoughts sometimes? 🤣🤣🤣
I LOVED IT! 🤣😘
Question:
Is there no English novel translation available? 👀
I would love to read the novel, but my search didn’t brought up any results.
But I am so happy to have stumbled across this one today on TT.

More tiny temper 😅
But they are a cute match. 😘

I like the vibe of the drama. The characters are all a bit extra. 😅
The ML is so dramatic. 🤣
