I like the character changes for him. Still a lot of layers but much more swoon worthy. 😅

I can put up with her ongoing lies, because she doesn’t lie for the fun of it or because she likes lying.
It is her learned skill to survive since childhood. A coping mechanism.
First because of her forced double life as a male fighter, and afterwards to get into his good graces. And her perceived impression of JBZ was that of a cold blooded lyer and trickster for full 2 ? month before he finally took her home.
So I get it - even if I don’t think it would’ve been necessary - that she still kept her guards up after the heart imprint thing.
And, how I stated in another part of this lively comment section, she has a staggering disregard for her own life, when people around her are in danger. That makes her honorable in my book, even though she is still lying.
But I can’t wait, until he finally knows the truth about her. 😅

I have read snippets of the novel (mostly the last chapters, LOL, because I want to be spoiled), but not about that part yet.
What I read or - better - skimmed through so far, I guess some changes are good. I don’t think the OG character of JBZ would have been well received by the audience. 😅

When did he learn of her being poisoned in the novel?

For someone who uses all kind of tricks to get the antidote in time, she has a staggering disregard for her own life.
It makes her character honorable despite her continuous lying..

It seems that way.
But how he clocked the character of the courtier and (more or less) pressured to do said investigation was satisfying to watch.
The preview, the part where he confronts his mother, looks promising too.

Okay. Sorry to say this, but the actor for Xia Jing Chi needs some serious acting lessons.
He is handsome, yes. But where are his facial expressions???

Did we really have 2 full episodes where only one guy got killed off? Or is my brain glitching?
That the brother obv faked his cluelessness was a nice surprise. I liked his style how he acquired the court official as his unwilling confidant. 😅👏👏

iQiyi suppressing numbers doesn’t make any sense as a possible explanation. Buzz is good for business. It brings subscribers and therefore makes money.

At the end o the day.
Don’t give some index numbers too much attention. They’re indicators but statistics never tell the whole story.

They’re such a letdown from my expectations, what that Alliance could have been about.

Plus him being stabbed multiple times, buried already (and not just for a second, nooo, she shoveled him out with her hands) and transported in questionable conditions for a prolonged period, he is still kicking and will be back in good health after some obscure healing methods. Just another day in the drama office . 😅

I would go so far and say they are both already in love, or the walk to the heart imprint wouldn’t have worked in the first place.
But he holds himself back because he sensed, that she still is keeping secrets, and he is mistrusting by nature after his upbringing. But he trusted her at least, that she wouldn’t murder or poison him.
She? I don’t think she realizes her feelings for him yet. To busy on keeping alive and looking for the antidote. Plus him being a liar most of the time makes him an unlikely candidate to fall in love with.
My guess was, they both realized the feelings of the other during the walk over the stones. Plus the extra clue regarding his feelings for her with the radiant spirit, he collected already. A proof, that he was seriously considering a real marriage with her.
So the felt betrayal hit home for him as a double s***er punch.

The nonverbal communication in this episode is massive and loaded with a multiverse of emotions.
Big shoutout to both main leading actors for a stellar performance.
