Yoon Joo Sang is my favorite old geezer. After all the bitching and moaning about their godly mother, their grief…
There was no mention that what Shin Maria did was straight up rape and she was even praised, what kind of logic do these people have. She raped the lawyer when he was unconscious, had his kid, forced him to raise him in secret, divorced his wife. Not the wife, the lawyer or his mother stated that it was a rape against his well. You would expect a lawyer to know the legality of the situation.
How to solve this situation so that the lawyer and his wife go back together? Let Maria die from natural causes. Worst possible solution. Anyway, that was the big wtf annoying moment.
Yoon Joo Sang is my favorite old geezer. After all the bitching and moaning about their godly mother, their grief seemed to be brief. The drama can be broken down to 10 episodes segments, every 10 episodes or so the same events are repeated until they are solved. For example the first 10 eps are about what's written in the synopsis "the murder". It's a family drama with a straight clean formula with minimal melodrama. The main focus of the story, aside from the murder, is giving everyone a love interest and following them until the after marriage life. It might be annoying at the beginning because of the daughters but that's at the first 10 eps, they get better.
Another thing about the first 10 episodes, I never seen another media that would shove down your throat the state of COVID more than this one. They take it to another level, making a conscience comment every other scene.
With that being said, there's one major issue around the beginning that will keep you bothered for the entire series. That is, the rapist Shin Maria:
The story looks interesting, is the romance good and does it have a happy ending?
If my memory serves me right, there's one main misunderstanding. FL was tricked to take revenge from ML. No real triangles, it was part of the revenge plan to be with the other guy for few episodes to hide how FL and 2ML know each other.
The story looks interesting, is the romance good and does it have a happy ending?
The romance "happy moments" were brief maybe 5 episodes around the middle part because the rest is a revenge story. Yes, happy ending for the leads. Final scene on the beach hugging each other to begin a new start.
I'm not a fan of the writing style that pushes the viewers too hard to interpret and speculate. You're expected to accept whatever is presented to you. If writers were to do so, they need a better structure and understanding of world building. Take for example the British series Utopia, it does it brilliantly.
The director must really love the Dolly zoom, although it looked good but I wish there was more visual variations even at the cost of it being experimental. You are already pushing your skill ceiling in all departments so why not shoot for the moon?
Anyway, it's a solid watch and will probably appeal to everyone.
That was kinda boring. We are barely given information about the mystery, it's mostly a slice of life with loads of repeated scenes. The actually story is no bigger than a 2-3 hours movie. Almost nothing happens in the first 5 episodes, the story starts at episode 6 with tiny bits of small teasers every now and then. Most of the "previous life" story is condensed in episode 15 and half 16. It's an interesting concept but barely does anything with it. At least it was nice visually.
On another note, I prefer to see Yoo Ah In in movies rather than long format dramas. He was also the main and the only highlight of this drama.
One of the most predictable generic revenge/greed/rich-baddies story you will ever see. When I say generic it's a sharp cut throat flat-line 5/10 kind of generic. For this type of story you would expect twists but there are hardly any. Everything is over explained, repeated and prolonged. It's excruciatingly slow, not only the pace but everything from shots to the dialogue to the music.
That was a strong first episode. In general it's good, although things were moving very slowly around ep10-14. This drama and "Seo Yeong, My Daughter (2012)", these two leads are a great duo.
Never seen a drama derails this fast. Once the chase for the daughter was over the drama was dead. The reason behind kidnapping the daughter was lame as fuck. The Sci-Fi element was straight up bad. There was an entire half of an episode was wasted on characters just eating and having robotic small talk. Yang Se Jong can't act for shit, he is too stiff for most of the time. Aside from the chase in the first half, I don't see the appeal.
The drama could be a fun drinking game. Take a shot every time someone says "saekki" :)
Might as well list Seong Hee as a guest character not a main character, she was barely on the screen, most of her appearance was at the beginning and the end. Good first 10 episodes then it changes direction and a bit of politics get involved. Nice sneaky teaser after the end credit.
There are some actors that I hate seeing in a political setting and one of those is Jang Hyun Sung. His face just doesn't work. Whenever there's intense shouting between 2 characters, the video cuts/editing get weird, switching between them out of sync. Just like any other political drama expect lots of shouting with spit firing up in all directions.
They introduced a handful of small stories for all of the characters but they didn't follow up on most of them, which makes it feel incomplete. The build up we had for these characters in the first half became meaningless at the end when the sole focus turned to the ML. There was a potential to create a solid package if they were consistent.
Decent first half, below average second half. Jae In barely appears in the second half. They also turned Ji Hoo into a pathetic character in the second half. Didn't like the melodramatic ending for the villain.
One of the worst medical dramas out there, the supernatural twist on the genre didn't help at all. Also, one of the most irritating soundtracks ever. The exact same soundtracks you would hear from old magic kids shows on Disney/Nickelodeon.
These sharp stares from Ha Ji Won are too powerful. Interesting setting for a medical drama. Awful unnecessary love square. The three pretty bois are a hard sell to be believed as doctors. Some weird tangents after ep12 like the three divers and the gangsters, seems like they needed any random content to fill the episodes. You get multiple cases of "I have a serious illness, I must not tell people close to me especially my family" I classify those under lazy cheap emotion provoking tricks.
One of the most disappointing and underwhelming endings I've seen. Too much time (70%) was wasted on generic cases, you would only tolerate them just to get snippets of info that concern the main story.

Jang Hyuk was cool.
That Subway sponsor must be too big $$$.
