The drama was too dry so they needed to kill Ryo's character to provoke some emotions. Couldn't they at least give Ryo a small W, no daughter, no Mi Joo, no purpose. He walked into his death for a stupid reason and a lost cause, he died in vain without accomplishing jackshit. Maybe his death motivated Tae Ho a bit but that's irrelevant.
The fights were decent, everything else was mediocre. For cast performance, Yoon Kye Sang and Park Won Sang were the only highlights. The female cast (Na Ra, Mi Joo, Jung Min) all felt like cardboard characters. There's slight romance but it's one of the most artificial ones. Decent first 5 episodes, episodes 6-10 questionable, disliked the last 6 episodes, hated the ending. The drama was too dry so they needed to kill off a character later on to provoke some emotions.
Season 2 is a massive downgrade compared to season 1. I wish if they didn't make another season to begin with. Full of forgettable unlikable characters. They tried to copy the exact formula of season 1 but failed miserably. Especially with the characters' archetypes, one to one carbon copy.
Ro Joon (Kim Bum) evil smile/smirk was pure cringe!
Decent watch, nice team synergy and likable duo Do Yeong and Jin Woo.
Why is Kim Min Jong a main character? He barely contributed and even when he does it's cringe. The same case with season 2, didn't like him there at all. Nowadays he is just a washed up actor.
agree with you. the female antagonist should have died or lived in prison forever.
Ikr :/ Whenever writers make the antagonist seriously hurt or terminally ill at the end to initiate the act of forgiveness, is almost never done right because more often than not these villains aren't a good written characters. In cases such this drama, it would be the tolerable choice to serve the antagonist some sweet karma or legal punishment.
First half (1-28): Great Glorious Golden Gloria! Lively characters that flow and bounce off each others very nicely. Doesn't look or feel like other generic long running format dramas. Jazzy with a style and a spoken personality. The first half was destined for greatness. No triangle/square? I was jazzing! Amazing performance by Bae Doo Na, I've seen most of her movies but this is the first time seeing her in a drama. I couldn't get the song out my head!
Second half (29-50): sucked ass royally!! The biggest flippity flop out there. They sucked the life out of the drama and killed any potentials. No more music, characters got dull and one dimensional, turned to a tasteless washed up melodrama. Bae Doo Na became a one-facial expression actress whispering into the mic barely audible, any personality she had before is now gone. The events such as the retaliation and both couples' relationships issues kept going in a repeating cycle until the last episode. There was some serious insane stretch for the last 10 episodes, almost zero content. I refuse to believe it's the same writer.
Lee Jong Won, a despicable looking actor playing a despicable character in a despicable role. It's even the same case with his other roles, playing as the despicable man. Hard to stomach his presence and this drama is no exception.
This drama was extremely similar to Yellow Boots (2012), from the characters to the circumstances to the plot to everything. I would give the edge to Yellow Boots, it was better than this clusterfuck. Surprisingly, if you read the comment I left on Yellow Boots (2012), everything I said also applies on this drama too.
This is "Makjang: Extreme Abuse Edition". I bet you real money if you brought a chimpanzee it would behave more of a functional human than FL. Not even a monk can forgive this mental, emotional and physical abuse. It's impossible to see their plead as sincere at the end. No good reasonable payoff. The main antagonist didn't pay for her crimes and misdeeds.
Feels like watching one of those cheap action kids series like Power Rangers. Ridiculous zero logic 24 eps action flick movie format turned drama. 90% percent characters death rate most of which are from the good guys, ok! It's comical for how bad the writing was. Yet, it kept me engaged to see how absurd it can get.
Some random thoughts: XYZ events happened 30 years ago and now somehow all of them are being brought up. It's too dry for 24 episodes, an episode can pass with no content. Hyeon Ae is too much in your face. All romantic relationships are connected to Hyeon Ae, a bit too ridiculous. No update on Ma Ri after the time skip at the end smh :/
The analytical style got old quickly. Dr.Frost enters a room, oh look a glass of water he must be a water drinker! Dr.Frost was lame as fuck. His quirky frosty persona doesn't help either.

In comparison, this is far better than season 2.
