HAHAHAHA No standards... You traipsed all the way over here, nine months after my comment, to leave a derogatory snipe at what I personally find entertaining? I see you all over MDL doing that. Whassamatter? Slow troll day today? Get off my comment with your elitist (cough cough) BS, thanks and have a fantastic judgy day :-)
I loved this so much, the moment it ended I wanted to re-watch it. Ended wayyy too soon for me. I cannot get over how very short it is and yet so impactful. My "boys" did it again. I am Kiyoi, waiting for the movie: "Hayaku, hayaku!" Ugh my heart melted during that scene. I might add a real review later. Or like the show, I might just keep it short and sweet... I'm lazy...
I am diving in to watch it but had a question. Are the subs the same for GagaOOlala and Viki or are the Viki ones superior? For My Tooth, Your Love the difference in subtitles between the two sites was so clear. No insult to anyone but, yeah...
Sigh... I am always coming to the party after the confetti has been thrown, balloons popped and all the champagne has been drunk but here I am and here is my reaction: I love this show. I had taken a break from BL for a bit and tried (and failed) getting back into it with a couple series that will remain unnamed. This show got me RIGHT back in the game. It is funny, endearing and I wholeheartedly enjoyed the natural rapport between all the actors. Unassuming, unpretentious, aided by a cast whose performances made everything seem so real, normal and effortless, modest in budget and production, it just came and quietly stole my heart. Bom is a new favorite. I will forever remember his expressions and reactions. I hit rewind so many times just to re-watch and laugh at his facial shenanigans. Shows like this remind me that the earth doesn't have to shake for me to be moved/satisfied.
This is a late comment and not about voting. Just wanted to say that the blurb for My Friendship 2 might be a HUGE spoiler for those who haven't seen Part 1? I know its one of those prequels that comes AFTER the original but that gut punch is everything in the first one... EDIT: Also THANKS FOR PUTTING THIS list UP! I should have said that first :-)
Everyone mad at Yeewah. She just smelled Vee's crap a mile away and wanted him to claim the stench. Sometimes people need other people to push them to admit how they feel about someone and it worked. Vee is a bit dense when it comes to love and people like that may need rude shocks to kinda make them "see the light.". Her method might seem cruel to Nuea but it also cleared the air and made him realize he doesn't stand a chance. Better he hurts now and lets go than keeps trying when there is no hope. I am loving this show so much. War has shot up my list of fave actors with his performance especially on this episode. Bravo dude!!! Phenomenal acting/emoting with no extra unnecessary melodrama. That scene in the bedroom was a gutpunch.
WOW! What a night/early morning of upheavals. I am like a wet towel thoroughly wrung dry. All these feelings in one sitting. Wrapped up the last few episodes of DNA Says Love You, the scene with Le at the table with mom had me bawling, followed by KP and an entire hour of non stop visceral punches in an incredibly written, shot and acted episode, washed down with another roller-coaster that was Love Mechanics. I am totally spent. I feel like a jellyfish, a blob with no bones just bobbing along, helplessly tossed about in a deluge of BL emotion and amazingness. Lawd!! I need a drink..but it's 7:25 in the morning.....
I might come back to give thoughts on VegasPete cause that shite hit HARD!
Okay I feel like I need to say this.VegasPete are my favorite couple and I was rooting for them since the beginning.…
A person cannot change who they have been for 20+ odd years in five minutes. It takes time to work through trauma and for scars to heal. It would be insulting to our intelligence/lessen the impact of the damage caused by his dad if all of a sudden Vegas is this sweet, nice guy. He has a LOT to work through and a couple nights of good sex and an emotional connection isn't going to fix what ails him. Pete realizes this and that is what disheartens him cause he doesn't feel like he (being empty himself) will be able to give Vegas what he needs to heal him. All that intimacy and STILL the cuffs and chains...
How are we going to be 1 min 45 secs into something and you knock the wind out of me.?!?! pshew! Good God! Let's see if I have any breath left to actually watch the rest of the show...Yes, I really paused my watch to come say this. LOL
I binged this last night and today. I hardly cry while watching BLs. It was an absolute gem that had me in tears without the melodrama, over emotional music, forced melancholy etc. It's not a fast paced, hunks/eye candy abounding drama and it didn't need/try to be. It just hit the heart when and where it needed to, I loved it so much. The cast/acting was stellar, the kids were so cute without that annoying, too smart for their boots thing a lot of shows do when they cast children. The adults were all healthy for the most part (mentally) and interacted with each other with ease and maturity. All in all this truly lived up to the saying "good things come in small packages". Minimal theatrics yet it packed a punch.
There were two songs I fell in love with that went into my music playlist as soon as I could stop watching for a sec to add them. haha
That scene with his mom at the table the last episode was heart-wrenching in the best of ways....
Definitely recommended. Please watch this if you are on the fence!! And if you give it a chance I hope you like it as much as I did.
They did the standart Japanese roll out just like any other jBL out thereIt’s just that Japan doesn’t care…
"The beauty of the Japanese vis-a-vis being black..." you are 100% correct. I wholeheartedly agree with/feel the same about everything you said above especially in regards to the American youth. Honestly with social media and the internet you would expect them to realize that they really have it good here. lol It's not perfect but it's the closest to the ideal.... Keep knocking it into their heads! haha Thank you so much for this great discussion!!
Ahh I'm just the just a proud mama ;-)
As for this show I will be bingeing it on the 4th! Yay! From the comment I can tell it's a winner. So excited!

Ahhhh yes the good old "gaijin" thing haha. My son is in a US Navy base there and he says it's weird. He feels like they probably don't want them (the US ) in their country but yet he has had a great experience and no one has treated him badly. (It may not matter but I have to mention that we are black... I am sure you understand why this MIGHT make a difference in his experience without making this reply a race based thing or painting all Japanese as racist etc ...for reference I had asked him about any issues dating Japanese girls) He loves it there. It's like they are stuck between a rock and a hard place. They don't want foreigners there but they are also to polite to drive you away or be outwardly rude lol He says Tokyo was too "busy" for him but he loves Fukuoka and a few other small cities.

"Fearlessly perverse with sexually and morally outrageous characters". ..couldn't have described it better. They kind of put to test the theory that violent/dark/twisted etc movies create a "bad society". They are some of the most polite people you will ever meet. I'm also a huge fan of their culture. I wish they were less rigid about being so "insular" but I guess that is their way of maintaining/preserving their culture and traditions.

Ugh so glad someone said this. been saying this about Japanese movies and bl forever. They could give a crap about propriety.political correctness and that lends so much authenticity to their work. The directors/writers have a dgaf attitude, they are "this is my story and this is how i want to tell it" and you may not like it but if you do it makes the watching experience so much better cause you don't feel like they dumbed down or sanitized something to get likes and approval of the masses. They make shit with conviction and I love it!
Just wrapped this one up. There were some really good moments and then some blah. Don't know...I would describe it as a bowl of ramen when you're really drunk or hungry. You want something more filling, but still it does the job. Will you remember the meal in the morning? Probably not, but if you do you appreciate how good you thought it tasted in the heat of the desperate moment. ;)
wow some people are really upset about this show's storyline lol. if it angers you so much why not move on to…
Just jumped on here a bit ago, scrolling through the comments cause I am about to start watching this show and this made me LOL cause wow even if you're trying to miss it, it wallops you in the face. It's like you're mad about something but keep going/coming back even though it causes you misery. There is a word for that...actually two... I mean are you in chains in a basement with only this show on a screen repetitively and can't leave? Anyhoo time for me to hit play. So excited
So sexy when an S meets his right M. VegasPete are a dynamic i didn't know I needed in my bl series life. I get it plenty in my yaoi novels/manga but wasn't sure if anyone could pull it off in a show yet. That shite was sexy, power in submission done right. I like that it was a "tame" first time. Made it more realistic. From what I know people don't just dive in head first into the heavy S&M play right away. Loved that scene! I thirst, yes....
Ahh Chay, good old representation of making terrible/self destructive decisions to mend a broken heart. Let me tell you it never works my boy.
This episode was a full 360 covering so many emotions, surprised, disappointed, happy, sad, horny, twisted, heartbroken, lovey dovey, settled in, mopey, shocked... I've said this before but I am so impressed by the tonal changes and how well they have been able to work all these changes/highs and lows into one episode without making it seem like disjointed shambles and a mess.
R.I.P to dear hedgehog, the death of whom brought us the heat and the chains. You had no name, but you will go down as one of bls best "wing men", taking one for the team.
I had no expectations and I do like it 🤷♂️ (currently after ep2) It's morally messy and soapy. But sometimes…
I saw the special episode and haven't seen anything else. The comments had me wavering on whether to just wait and binge later (best way to watch boring stuff for me) ...your comment is exactly what I needed to make up my mind. I am sooo in the mood for trashy, messy fun. Everyone expects BL shows to be of a certain high standard because of political/social issues forgetting that it's first and foremost supposed to be entertainment. How maaaaany hetero soap opera shows have i had to slog through in my lifetime? Heading over to start watching asap!
