Is this like a star-crossed lovers trope? Because it would have taken too much imagination to write a love story from scratch, so they just had to have feelings for each other already. Otherwise, they didn't know how to make them start to care for each other, or how she would survive without him caring for her. I didn't know what to watch these days. I tried different dramas, so I decided to just watch something short. However, the female lead is so wishy-washy. By the way, for a woman who came to the palace to use her body to get what she wants, she doesn't look very determined in her task. At this point, wouldn't it have been better if she were a fighter and dressed as a male to be a palace guard? 😅😆 Why did she have to be a concubine, and why does she look like a deer caught in headlights 99% of the time? ps. ML needs to be punched over and over again. I doubt she will ever do it.

I'm struggling with the first three episodes since they came out. The acting isn't great, and the female lead has a childish voice intonation that doesn't really go with the actress/character, as she looks too mature to talk like that. There was this underwater scene... that defies description (towards the second half of episode 2, if you want to check it out 😅). It looks like it's going to be quite tropey. Luo Yunxi looks very, very, very thin in this one... As some people told me it gets better slowly, I'll give it a couple more episodes, as everything could improve, maybe. I need either a great story, amazing leads, or something. For now, there is nothing to my liking except that there are going to be cases they will solve together or something, so that's it... I guess.

Thanks. 🥲 I'm trying to watch it, but in episode 2, the water scene was so embarrassingly bad... and the clichéd underwater kiss was so cringe. 😆😅 The acting as well... I'll give it a couple more episodes, but even for a lighthearted drama it needs to have one good point to be watchable

I read somewhere that it will have the childhood connection trope that I hate with all of myself. Normally, it has to be something that doesn't influence their relationship in the future at all, or else I just can't go through with it. Did they mention anything about it in these episodes?

There are many horrible things happening around the world right now, but people still try to live and survive. We can all be more resilient than we think we can be, not only in dramas. 😉

I don't remember what her position was with the late emperor, whether she was a noble consort, concubine, etc. But she wasn't an empress. This emperor needed her support, and I guess giving her the position she has now was the best way he had to make sure he would have enough support as a new emperor.

He plays the game; I don’t think he is stupid or blind. I’m sure he married her because he needed her family’s support. He didn’t seem like some fool when she was whispering things in his ear; he looked like someone who knows very well what is going on. Also, he and Duke Su are very close; I doubt they would be if the Emperor was an idiot, but we will see. 🤣 They could surprise me.

I don't remember well, but maybe she was a concubine of the late emperor, not his wife, so she couldn't be a dowager. And I'm sure she and all her family wanted her to have a powerful position with the new emperor, and he wanted their support

It comes to show you the power of choice. They both made a choice, and they did so in different ways, in terms of how to treat people around them after they were victims of violence.

When the family goes down, at least he will be safe as a monk 😅

Yes, she was very powerful, with her family's and ministers' support. So, he took her as his wife, too, to have that support, as he himself did not have enough power when he became the emperor.

If he wanted to help her, he could have simply said he was the father and destroyed both himself and the princess. Can't help more than that. 🤣😅

Probably for some added drama, but it wasn't really needed. Like, why would the Zhao emperor even request it? I would understand if he asked the emperor to take the sister as his new empress or something... but requesting Duke Su to get married just because the sister likes him and she said she gave up on him doesn't make sense. I'm sure it will be resolved quickly in the next episode.

Yes, I am very invested in their friendship. I wish there was more of them and less of the princess and the wife killer. But being an XFF revenge story, it is normal that we have more of them. Still...

She decided to perpetuate the cycle of violence and thus became a perpetrator of atrocities, just like the person who had hurt her. XFF could have done the same thing, but she chose to help innocent people, not hurt them
