Finally, the Easter holidays are here, so I can watch in peace! I'm so behind, today at episode 17. The ML's old deity/reincarnated friend gives me such creepy vibes in both of his reincarnations. 😅 Let me indulge in my obsession over a younger, very immature girl that I groomed (in the first life) or watched grow up as a little sister (in the second life). I hope not to see any of him and his icky love triangle in future episodes 😅

Let us hope that they do not alter the happy ending to an open or sad ending as they really have the tendency to do so 😅

Yikes. Typical ML, like in a lot of Chinese novels. I wanted to read the novel as I wished to see a more serious version of the story (as the show seems fluffed up), but I don’t know with this piece of information. So the show then feels like their second life, in which he has a glimpse of what he was in the novel. 😅

Can you tell me about the novel? Is it well-written? The show is light and fluffy for the most part, but I felt like the story could have been more serious in the novel. Is that the case? I'm enjoying the show even though this kind of comedy and some cringey over-the-top scenes aren't my favorites, but it is entertaining so far (I'm only on episode 8) and it is much better than what it looked like in promos. as well the characters are likable

😆 I know. That was my thought process to explain the scene 🤣🤣🤣 There were only two possible explanations, as it was too obvious that the character was anything but a Yoda-style elderly person 😂

When he was pretending to be sickly, I was thinking either the actor is so bad or they really want us to know he is up to no good 😅

All the main characters have a love interest (wife, childhood sweetheart, crush). There are some scenes, but it is not a central part of the show

It was weirdly funny 🤣🤣

The story is interesting enough, and I like all the main characters. However, the production and overall look are not good. Also, why did they have to include that over-the-top, cringey, wannabe romantic shot? 😅 Anyway, I'm on episode 3 and I'm strangely enjoying it so far. 🤪 Also, it only has 24 episodes, so it shouldn't have any filler episodes. P.S. I'm not a fan of his magical connection to her. There were so many ways they could have made them work together on the case, but I guess this plot device was the easiest to use and they can use it for comedic purposes as she is a crybaby and he is unintentionally affected by those tears. Unfortunately, I'll probably have to wait until Friday to binge through the rest of the episodes. ☹️

There is always something worse... or better. 😅 But in a way, I'm not the biggest fan of the ML either, so I guess it is fine as long as they don't repeat the ep 8 type of episode ever again. 😅 It took me two days to finish it with all those filler scenes. I guess they wanted us to understand how the ML had to grow up while being apart from her, and she got stuck in her ivory tower, unable to mature as she was overprotected by her uncle (speaking of the uncle, I'm not sure if he truly loves her or if he just wants to keep her naive and childish so he can control her). I don't care enough to watch her scenes, so maybe I'm missing something important.

I don't think her uncle cares. I guess he wants her to give birth to a male heir in the future or something along those lines

Don't overthink it. She is just written poorly, and you will never find any logic behind her actions, existence, wants, and needs. 😅😆 (Especially since her only purpose is him, at least for now.) Let's just fast-forward her and pretend she doesn't exist 🤣

I know she's in the original material, but I'm saying in general, if they want to write romance, at least make it less cringey. Why do we need to suffer? Anyway, I don't think there's time in this 24 episodes for Liu Feng Shuang to appear 🥲

Word of Honor was based on a danmei novel (romance between men), so it was a censored adaptation of that. While this one isn't, it is a bromance/brotherhood. They had their female partners in the novel as well. But yes, after Word of Honor, the situation for censored adaptations of danmeis did regress, and a lot of shows already filmed and finished are not airing at all

If they don't want to write romance but they want to add it they should just stick to the idea that in those times (or times that the show is loosely based on), people didn't get married because of love and marriages were arranged by families, instead of giving us the typically badly written childhood sweethearts trope. It is weird. Now I need to find all of my male childhood friends; there might be my destined one in that bunch. 😅🤣😂

🤣🤣🤣 Fairy and Devil, I think I watched the first five episodes on mute. Then I started to put the volume up, slowly... from episode to episode. At some point, my mind was filtering out Orchid's voice. That's when I discovered habituation, when the brain filters out repetitive, annoying, and irrelevant noise🤣🤣
