I'm only at episode 2, but does the character of Chen Shi get any less brainless? I'm okay with a bit of silly/comedic sidekicks, but he is just over the top... and as well he is not funny either
Did you see my review? Lol. Yours makes the drama good lol.
After spending 80% of my vacation on this drama, but along with an amazing comment section, I feel I have to give this drama some credit. 😆 I'm biased. PS. Others need to suffer like we did through this drama 🤣
I mean, aesthetically, the show looked good, and the actors did a great job with what they were given. If they…
I couldn't stand the ML from the beginning, but I accepted that he is her love interest and liked the rest of the story, so I went along with it, still enjoying it. Hoping for some character growth for the ML and to see a great FL story. But when they arrived at the Palace... I think after a few episodes, it started to be all about him and the court. It never recovered after that. And even if finally the FL sees the ML's true colours, still, I'm so disappointed with the bad writing of his character; he felt nothing more than a lifeless tool for the storytelling.
This ending is 100% better than JTL. That one made me so mad
P.S. Here is the general story and the way they prioritized some of the characters and plots that makes us mad. At least they had the decency to give an open ending, so the rest is left to our imagination

The ending of JTL felt rushed, and it seemed like the writer had decided on it before completing the story. It felt like a mission or killing spree, with everyone dying one after another. The only death that evoked any emotion was Sun Lang's (even if the characters in the past survived that kind of wound.); the rest felt like they were just being ticked off a list. It seemed like the writer wanted everyone to die for the ending, and they did. Still i liked the rest of the story and the characters so much that i still loved the show but will probably never watch again those last episodes as they are not worthy of time 😅
We could see that he is not as benevolent as his mother was claiming to be from the start of the drama - hiding…
If it helps, the scene of his demise was underwhelming, and even though I liked him as a character, there was something off about it; it felt strange. I don't know how to explain it. Also, you could tell that the ML was going to betray them, so for some reason, I was just concentrating on how much I couldn't stand him anymore and wanted him to die! But the writers didn't answer my prayers 🤣

Despite the quality of the last two episodes, the finale is definitely the best part. At the end, the plot was so convoluted (in a bad way) that I thought the finale would be horrible, but it was okay and so much better than what I was expecting 😄

He was not only making excuses for what he did, but he also made sure to include all the guys around her in his plan (to kill them off) , just in case she started liking someone else 😅

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I mean, after what they put us through in this last third of the show, the most satisfying thing was when she FINALLY had enough of him, and the show confirmed what we were thinking about him from episode 1! I never thought they would grace us with this.
The end of the drama:Amai didn't leave to wonder through the world ... she is telling to Wang Qi: Send me a message…
To me, her leaving Jingyang Pass was a bit odd, as she has too many responsibilities towards the army, and their situation is closely related to her presence, the no-summon 'deal' she has with the emperor, etc. Also, she left the boy behind and all the responsibilities to her fellow soldiers. I know she said they can call her, etc., but still, the Jingyang Pass situation is all her idea/doing. It feels strange that she forfeited it just like this. I wish they had resolved the Beimo/Nanxia war with a proper treaty so she could truly go and be free. But still, considering everything, the ending could have been much worse and it is better that it is open to interpretation 😉
