I guess that you and I just have different sensibilities. That is why they make vanilla AND chocolate. I hope…
Not so much any more. When I first discovered Korean Dramas 10-15 years ago, there was a lot of undiscovered treasure to sift through, but over the last 5 years or so, I have only found one or two a year that I have been able to watch from beginning to end. I don't know if that is due to a change in quality or change in my taste.
I found their movies first. I believe that "I Saw The Devil" was my first. I did not expect such high quality. I have a list of about 30 films that I have recommended to people, but I only know of one that was sampled. The excuse that most people give me is that they don't like subtitles. I try not to worry about it too much. : -))
Episode 16:Made it!I wish I had thought to watch at 2x, with added jumps in extra slow spots, from the very beginning.…
I guess that you and I just have different sensibilities. That is why they make vanilla AND chocolate. I hope that you find more joy in your next viewing adventure.
Well, you just broke my heart (Boooo..) I am thinking of all the great scenes that you will miss, but I can't'…
I have watched a lot of Asian dramas at 1.5, slowing down for the good stuff. I really hate the dramas that show the actor walking or driving for long periods to show that he/she is "thinking."
Yes, all the allotted time must be filled. Back when I first discovered kdramas, I watched all 52 episodes of My Father Is Strange. What kept me going was the magical performance of Lee Yoo Ri. The sub-plot of the romance of Lee Joon and Jung So-min was not bad, but most of the 52 hours tested my patience.
In SLA, the music often held me in place when I felt an impulse to skip ahead a bit.
Episode 9:Stopping midway for now...the glacial pace is killing me.I'm sorry to have to say it, but the only romantic/sexual…
Well, you just broke my heart (Boooo..) I am thinking of all the great scenes that you will miss, but I can't' direct you to them because i don't remember exactly which episodes they were in. Wait! Episode 10 Sun Jae appears with the orchestra. Episode 14 Joon Hyeong gets drunk at a party and Oh Hye Won has a near-mental breakdown while Sun Jae plays for the party attendees. I think that it was episode 11 in which Hey Won breaks down with Min Soo while sitting in her car. From episode 11 onward, Hye Won fights legal battles with nearly everyone, except Sun Jae of course. There are others, but I hope that these are enough to keep you going. If none of that appeals to you, "different strokes for different strokes," I guess.
I think that Tomohisa Yamashita is the worst actor in the world. Okay, I haven't seen them all, but he is really bad. There is even a thread on Reddit discussing how bad he is. He is just walking cardboard.
So much beauty and talent -- she should have become a major star. It makes me sad that it didn't happen for her. I wonder if it was her fault or her agency's. I will probably never know.
I don't understand why the rating is so low. I know it's not the best moral script but still beside that it's…
I still consider it the GOAT of Asian dramas, but I have failed at convincing enough other people about that. For the 3rd or 4th time, I suggest that everyone read https://thefangirlverdict.com/2014/09/12/review-secret-love-affair/ It is a beautiful essay, even if you don't want to watch the drama.
This was difficult to rate. Not a moment of joy, but still mesmerizing. Not a normal family at all. I have never felt that Sul Kyung Gul is as good an actor as the rest of the world feels he is, but he is adequate here. Kim Hee Ae is great, but I did not like the character she was playing at all. Jang Dong Gun always seems to surprise me, and he does here as well. I wanted so badly for the children to face responsibility for what they did, but was left unsure if that would happen. With all my negative feelings, I still think that this is the best Korean movie that I have seen in at least five years. Different strokes for different folks, I guess.
I am a big fan of Park Hoon, but Lee Dong Wook always gives me the heebie-jeebies. Should I invest an hour to sample this, or will I be guaranteed to regret it?
I actually bought the dvd collection several years ago because I anticipated that it would become hard to find…
Yes. I suppose that you should verify before ordering. The only anomaly is that the Billy Joel song "Piano Man" is deleted. Some legal issue, I suppose. Interesting, but not critical to the story.
