You wanna hear something really interesting. The writer of this drama, Ha Chung-Ok, wanted Uhm Jung Hwa to star…
Uhm Jung Hwa wasn't horrible, but the plot was. 50 episode of people screaming at one another. This should have been 8 episodes, but they stretched it out. For example, the father verbally threw his son out of the house at least twice, yet the son never left and the issue was brought up again. The unnecessary 42 episodes were filled with scenes like that.
This was my second attempt at watching a k-drama after You're Too Much with Uhm Jung Hwa almost killed any desire to ever watch another.
I did not care about the plot involving the family downstairs, hardly cared about the story centered around the youngest sister, but the rest of the drama had me hooked. Lee Yoo Ri gave the most enjoyable performance I have ever seen.
When it ended, I went into mourning. I did not want it to end. I will never attempt to watch another drama that is so long, but I am glad that I watched this one.
Can someone explain something to me? If Dr. Kim was adopted by two white people and raised in America, why does he speak perfect Korean? I suppose that they could have hired a Korean nanny, but that was not mentioned, as far as I remember.
I gave this serie a 5/10. I initially wanted to give it 1/10 but then i thought twice and tbh i have seen way…
I agree with you. Though I have watched all twelve episodes so far, I keep asking myself why. Kim Byung Chul is the only member of the cast who tries to make this a comedy. As such, he seems out of place. I guess that I am still here because I am a fan of Uhm Jung Hwa, but I haven't really enjoyed anything she has been in since Venus Talk, almost ten years ago.
While it was nice to see So Ji Sub and Kim Yoon Jin, both of whom seem to be in semi-retirement, the story was not exactly riveting. In the US it probably would have been a "movie made for television." Nana was great. I keep waiting for her to find a 'break-out' roll that will take her star to another level.
I had not watched this in over ten years. It was one of the first films I watched when I decided to see what quality of movies Korea was putting out. In this re-watch, I liked it even more than the first time. There is an enormous load of emotion here, though little on the humor side. It is a shame that Won Bin has found more happiness making coffee commercials than high-grade movies.
Well, I plowed through, but in the end was quite disappointed. I felt that the story was too long and overly complicated. I was also unimpressed with the performances of Kang Yoo Seok and Moon Chae Won; they just hit their marks and spoke their lines -- the bare minimum.
Lee Sun Kyun and Park Hoon carried me across the finish-line, so to speak. Park Hoon has matched, or exceeded, the charisma of every top star whom he has appeared with -- Lee Sun Kyun, Hyun Bin, Kim Seo Hyung, etc. And yet, he has taken support rolls in productions that were mediocre. One has to pay the bills, I suppose.
you can travel between Czech and korea without travel permit if you are Czech/Korean citizen
Thank you, but I just looked that up and found that you can travel without a visa, but still need a biometric passport. I still love the movie. Maybe Woo Jin crossed the border at night. :)
I have gotten quite old. Over the decades there have been actors or singers whom I felt should be major stars, yet did not catch the shooting star for some reason. Stephen Boyd (Messala in Ben-Hur) and Sean Patrick Flanery (The Boondock Saints) for example. Another one is Park Hoon. I am going to watch this drama just to see how he does in it. Hoping for something good.
If not for CSW, I would not have finished this. The pacing is horribly slow, a lot of irrelevant scenes dragging…
Mostly agree. I have been watching much of it at 1.25 or 1.5. I am really only hanging around for Cho Seung Woo and Han Hye Jin. Han Hye Jin is too beautiful to fast-forward past.
