I was afraid to watch the final episode due to all the negative comments here, but I found it to be very adult. If I were 17, I might have been disappointed, but I am considerably older than that and realize that, sometimes, life takes some nasty turns.
I did not care much for Kwon Do-eun's previous writing effort (WWW), so I kept expecting this to fall apart in some way, but she kept the quality high.
I was not overly impressed with Nam Joo-hyuk, feeling that he was the weakest actor in the cast. There are worse actors, of course. I kept thinking about what Yoo Ah-in would have done with the roll, if he were ten years younger.
Kim Tae-ri has become a member of a small group of actors whom I would pay money to watch reading the phone book. She does what all the very best actors do -- surprise the audience and keep them interested.
Twenty-five Twenty-one has joined a very short list of Korean dramas, there are only three others, that I will watch again.
After about seven years of watching Korean dramas and movies almost exclusively, I have been thinking of giving them up due to all the recent disappointments. I wondered if the writers had all lost their magic powers. Then I discovered Twenty-five Twenty-one. The mojo is back, and I am so grateful. I love watching great acting, and Kim Tae-ri is a joy to watch in this so far. I have only finished two episodes, but I have my fingers crossed.
I wanted to like this drama but episode 10 was so boring and at this point, I don't really care for any character.…
I enjoyed the first episode, but it has been downhill ever since. If this had 16 episodes, I would have dropped it already. Now that I'm 5/6 of the way through, I feel that I may as well see it to the end. Even the Fangirl dropped it. https://thefangirlverdict.com/2022/03/14/dropped-thirty-nine/
Different expectations or not doesn't change that the writing of this drama is incredibly contrived and the direction…
Completely agree. I am not even sure that I will continue watching. I'm certainly not looking forward to the coming episodes with any excitement. Why even have the Joo Hee character? She is in this much less than Mi Jo and Chan Young. She is a third-wheel. I wonder why Son Ye Jin signed onto this.
I failed to understand the rating too, when I joined MDL. I realized this reflects what majority of this site…
Hello again, Nushrat Humaira. True, this is an affair drama, but different than most in that it is revealed early that all the marriages are of the sham variety, with the exception of the one between Yoon Ji Soo and Jo In Seo. That is the trap that Oh Hye Won suddenly realizes she has placed herself in. That is why I do not have the same disgust for what happens as I do for most stories about cheating.
I continue to feel that this is still the best of the Korean dramas, with My Mister a close second. It will never have the highest rating, and that is a shame.
Sixteen years later and I still enjoy this. I am not sure, but I believe that this was the first Korean movie that I watched. That led me to many more, and eventually to trying the dramas. Now I am a daily visitor to MDL. This is a happy, pleasant film. Nothing wrong with that. It is a shame that legal entanglements hurt Kim Ah Joong's career. Ji Seo Yoon has disappeared completely.
This drama is truly disappointing. I should feel bad for Chan Young but honestly it's difficult to feel bad for…
I agree with you, but the reason I continue to watch is the presence of So Ye Jin. I feel that she is one of the world's greatest actresses, and I enjoy watching her bring characters to life. I almost don't care about the drama being "cliche and dull." I try to ignore all that, while hoping it improves.
One of the most unsatisfying endings I've ever seen in a kdrama. We spent 8 hours for that? Also were all the…
All that time spent on his feet, and none of it had anything at all to do with the central plot. I wondered what the writers had in mind, other than the need to fill the allotted time.
I managed to get through three episodes, but I am too bored to continue. I don't know what the rest of you are seeing that I am missing. I thought that Kim Da Mi would carry me through, but even she must have been bored acting in this.
I would recommend my mister and lost, similar vibes in a way
This is a perfect example of how people can agree on one drama and disagree on another. I had to drop Lost in the third episode. It seemed clear to me that all the major characters would commit suicide in the end, and I found no pleasure in waiting for that to happen.
Can someone recommend me other drama that makes me feel same feelings from this one .... A masterpiece
That is a difficult request because you and I may agree on one drama and disagree on another. You may enjoy visiting https://thefangirlverdict.com/. She gives reviews that are much more detailed than you will find on MDL. Some dramas that she enjoyed as much as SLA are My Mister and Stranger, but they are quite a bit different than SLA.
Well, I watched the whole movie, and now I understand the low average rating. Seeing Lee Tae-Im in the nude was the best part, by far. There were several failures of plot continuation. In the end, I was glad that it was over.
This is seriously over-rated. Lee Joon Gi is a mediocre actor. The OST was awful. The plot was hardly unique. Different stroke for different folks, I guess.
This is really the story of a woman who is nearly 30, but has the emotional maturity of a 14-year-old. If that sounds like your 'cup of tea,' then you should enjoy it. The further along I got into it, the more difficulty I had continuing, but I made it. It it had been 16 episodes I would not have seen the last six. Some of the camera-work irritated me. Whenever Haru had a long monologue, the camera would slowly move in on her. It got far too repetitive. I tend to compare stories like this to Secret Love Affair, which may not be fair, since that drama was so magnificent. In the end, I gave it a generous 7.0.
