I understand Jun Ji Hyun's charisma, but consistently find her over-acting to be tiresome. It is always "look at me, look at me. Ignore the other actors. Ignore the story." The story would have been very good, if not for Jun Ji Hyun's glaring light.
One of the slowest-moving Kdramas I have ever tried to watch. It should have been ten episodes, instead of 32. If you plan to watch, be sure to use a server that offers fast-forwarding.
It's seems that you picked the wrong one ^^'The 2 dramas she did before this one were quite good. A Witch's romance…
Ha-ha, it's funny you should mention Itaiwon Class because I felt that Park Seo Joon was miscast, I kept wishing that someone like Yoo Ah In had gotten the part. The real magic of that drama was Kim Da Mi. I guess that this is the sort of thing that makes Kdrama fun.

Thank you. I checked into A Witch's Romance and was surprised to find Park Seo Joon and Ra Mi Ran were part of it. I will be more likely to try watching it because of them that Uhm Jung Hwa. The last movie of hers that I really liked was Venus Talk, but that was more due to Moon So Ri and Jo Min Soo. I guess that she is no longer one of my favorites.
I completed all the episodes, but it was touch-and-go the whole way. Many of the characters were superfluous. The plot lurched, clumsily, from one crisis to another. The average rating of 8.7 mystifies me. It was not one of those dramas that kept me up too late at night because I wanted to see what would happen next. To anyone who loved this -- I'm happy for you. Different strokes for different folks.
The only other time that I saw Namgoong Min was in Chief Kim. I can't believe that this is the same actor. I look forward to checking more of his work. Edit: Following this drama, I began watching Doctor Prisoner. Namgoong Min plays his part in that exactly as he played his part in Hot Stove League. Was Chief Kim a one-off?
I completed watching 6th episode just now, after watching first 2 episodes I had huge expectations on this one…
You are not alone. I usually feel that the MDL community over-rates dramas and movies. However, sometimes there is a drama like Secret Love Affair, which has a fairly low rating, but I loved. The rating almost prevented me from sampling it. I only tried it because of Kim Hee-ae. Different strokes for different folks.
I just finished ep 3. I was really curious why Kim Wook didn't tell Joon Ho that his girlfriend had died. Kim…
I can understand that Kim Wook would be worried that people would think that he was nuts by stating that he was talking to dead people, but I always felt that he was worried about breaking some rule. This was one of many problems I had with the script. I did not write down each one as they presented themselves. After all, we are here for enjoyment, not scholarship. I will just say that I have enjoyed other dramas more.
Our feelings about dramas are quite subjective. I almost feel guilty for not enjoying this as much as many others. I was on the brink of dropping it most of the way, feeling that the writing and acting were mediocre. I did enjoy the way that all the loose ends came together in the final episode, but it would have been better if it was even shorter than twelve episodes. In the end, I gave it a 7.0. If not for the final episode, it would have been quite a bit less.
I am surprised to find that so many people feel the way that I do about PSH. I don't hate her. Heck, I hope that she wins the lottery. But there a lot of actresses in Korea who are more gifted. People in the industry must like her personally because she keeps getting work.
This started out as a serious thriller, tried to morph into a comedy, and ended up being just plain stupid. A total waste of time. You will either drop it, or be begging for it to end. Don't make the same mistake that I did by trying to watch it.
I agree. He was in secret mother playing the same damn role but just.... Didn't do good in it. I didn't like his…
Thank you. I sometimes go through periods in which I wonder why nobody agrees with me on anything. :-)) I guess that we all go through that. My problem with Ji Sung is just that I always feel that he is "acting." As if he is just reciting the lines he has memorized, but never becomes the character. Contrast that with Hwang Jung Min or Lee Yoo Ri or many others.
I have not watched this yet, but I am wondering why the average rating is so relatively low when there is so much praise in the reviews and comments. Any ideas? Lee Dong Wook is not my favorite actor. I am wondering if he is the cause.
