On Stranger Season 2 Oct 23, 2020
My only complaint has to do with how hard I had to work to keep all the character names straight. ; - ). I got better at it with each episode. That is the price one has to pay for viewing top-notch, complex dramas like this. If there is a third season, I hope it does not take another three years to bring get it to the screen.

I wanted to watch this because of Kim Hee Ae, but the cliche script was more than I could stand. This is much higher-rated than it deserves.

Rather a thin plot. Not quite The Man From Nowhere, by a long shot. But you get to see Hwang Jung Min and Lee Jung Jae play a couple of extreme badasses. Quite a bit of tension, so that was a plus. Still, I have the feeling that these two great actors agreed to the script just to work together and spend some time in Thailand.

This was boring. Being a fan of Kang So Ra, I stuck with it, but it was not easy. I'm glad that I didn't have to pay for admission.

The Koreans and Japanese have several such films that are highly-rated on MDL. I prefer a discernible theme hidden away somewhere. The last that I watched prior to Il Mare was Little Forest. For 90% of the film we are watching people cook. MDL's average rating is 8.4. I gave it a 1.0. You probably think that I'm a Neanderthal.

That is true with many movies, but with this one I fear that I would fall asleep in a big, dark theater.
I am a big fan of cinematography. You may enjoy this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=doaQC-S8de8&t=107s

Uhm Jung Hwa used to be a favorite of mine, until she made You're Too Much. That was so horrible, but I stuck with it because I knew there would be a big payoff somewhere along the line. Jung Hwa wouldn't disappoint me, right? Huge mistake. I decided that I would never trust her again. However, there are so many positive comments here about this movie that I am getting weak-kneed about my resolve.

Edit: So, I watched it. Sorry I did. It was a waste of time.

OMG! I am only in the third episode, but I am knocked out over how much I am enjoying this. My usual complaint with my fellow MDL followers is that they rate dramas and movies higher than they deserve. This is one of those cases in which just the opposite has happened. The acting of Yoo Ah In and Kim Hee Ae, alone, is enough to demand a 9.0.

Kim Hee Ae is a bit of a mystery to me. Look at a picture of her, and I think that she is a bit plain, but view her moving and speaking, suddenly a sensuality and intelligence leaps out that makes her irresistible. What a great actress.

I nearly dropped this during episodes 6, 7, and 8. Suddenly, episode 9 got me re-riveted. The final episode made me very sad, especially the final few minutes. I guess that I need a rom-com next to try to shake the blues.

I am in the middle of episode 4 and seriously thinking of dropping the drama. I can't believe how slowly everyone walks . How do they get where they are going? Im So Hyang must have had botox in every nook and cranny of her face because she seems unable to move it. She portrays Kang Mi Rae as if she has an IQ of 70, and with no personality.

I'm at the 6 episode right now and Ha Ri just gave that puzzle to him and I'm sooo angry, like who even does that…
I am watching episode 10, in which Hye Jin is holding the puzzle piece. How can that be when, as you said, Ha Ri gave it to Sung Jun? Did the writer forget?

The MDL comments here are about as divided as I have ever seen, but I am enjoying this very much. Half-way through the episodes, and I like Hwang Jung Eum's performance . This is my first exposure to Go Joon Hee, and I am falling in love with her. Park Seo Joon is his usual adequate self (faint praise). However, I find Choi Shi Won to be super-annoying. He seems desperate to steal every scene. Shin Hye Sun is my least-favorite Korean actress. I can't understand why her star has risen as high as it has. Choi and Shin aside, I'm looking forward to each new episode.

What a terrific discovery. I didn't really care for Chae Jung Ahn much, but the other three primary actors were wonderful. Though I am now up to nearly 300 Korean movies and dramas, this was my first exposure to Yoon Eue Hye. I will have to view some of her other work. I enjoy it when I eagerly await the next episode, instead of wondering if I should continue. I didn't care too much about most of the sub-plots, so I gave it a 9.0.

Lee Yoo Ri starred with Gong Yoo in a drama titled "Twenty Years," back in 2003. Does anyone know where to watch it?

Well, different strokes for different folks, as they say. I had to watch it at various fast-forward speeds. The story could have been told in twenty minutes.

I've seen her in all sorts of wild chaotic dramas, some very good, some smack my forehead level on writing (her…
I am a big fan of Ra Mi Ran and have followed her into many a poor script. I have only seen Hwang Jung Eum in Mystic Pop-up Bar. I could not watch Kill Me, Heal Me because I feel that Ji Sung is the worst 'name' actor in South Korea. I wish that his wife would give him some lessons. She is very good.

I do enjoy watching superior actors at work. I enjoy them more when coupled with superior writing. Lee Yoo Ri's work in My Father Is Strange blew my mind. She would underplay some scenes, yet 'chew the scenery' in others -- always surprising, always captivating. But that was the highest-rated drama (on MDL) that she has been in. I have tried to watch many other of her dramas, only to have to drop them after a few episodes. I don't remember having to drop anything that Kim Hye Soo has been in because the writing stunk. She seems to have a better sense of what I would enjoy (ha-ha).

More than once, I have watched a drama and found myself wondering, "What would Lee Yoo Ri have done with this roll?" I certainly would like to see her paired up with one of the better male actors -- Hyun Bin,, Jo Seung Wu, Gong Yoo, Lee Byung Hun for example.

Well, we all have more important concerns.
