This was fun. I don't remember ever being so eager to watch the "next" episode. For me, Park Hoon stole the show, just as he did in "Nobody Knows." I doubt that Hyun Bin would agree to a second season. After all, he is a major star with lots of projects being offered to him. A good-enough script could lure him on board though.
I just finished episode 6, and I find that I am getting tired of this drama. I checked the ratings in Korea and found that they dropped almost weekly, so the public there must have gotten tired of it as well. Do the last six episodes get more interesting, or are they more of the same?
Just finished. During the final two episodes, the powers of our heroes seemed rather arbitrary, so the writing was not up to the earlier standard, but much of the first 10 were top-notch. Overall, I had to give it a 9. I was always eager to see the next episode. Too many dramas have me continually wondering if I should continue or not. This was a good one.
For the most part, this is a fairly ordinary drama. Better than most, but not stellar, with one exception -- Kim Hye Soo. I consider her to be one of the world's very best actresses. She shines here and thus lifts the overall quality of the production. Many of the people commenting here seem to not know who she is and her status in the industry. That's too bad. I will gladly watch anything that she is in. I feel the same way about Son Ye Jin and Lee Yoo Ri. Korea currently has the best actors, writers and directors. Keep them coming.
This was so poorly made that I found myself wondering if a group of high school students was in charge of production. There is no emotional involvement possible because it is all so fake. I am happy for those who enjoyed it, but I think it stinks.
Finished! 6.5. At the conclusion I had memories of Signal, due to the conflation of S/F and police drama, but (sadly) without Kim Hye-Soo. With better writing and directing, this could have been as good. JMHO
This was my first exposure to Kdrama. I had seen a few of Uhm Jung Hwa's movies and decided to take the plunge. I hated almost every moment. On another discussion-site, I asked if all Kdramas were this bad. People assured me that they were not and made suggestions for my next venture. I chose My Father Is Strange and was blown away by the magnificent performance of Lee Yoo Ri. I learned that watching Kdrama can be an enjoyable experience, but not by watching garbage like this. I still have not forgiven Uhm Jung Hwa for her betrayal in associating herself with this. I doubt she cares. :))
I am half-way through this, but I am puzzled by the high average rating. So many 10's. If this deserves a 10, what does Hospital Playlist deserve -- 11? 14? The acting is mediocre and the director's (Kim Kyung Hee) contribution stinks. I am sticking around because I want to see how the plot finally unfolds, but getting through each episode is a bit of a chore. I prefer the eager anticipation I experienced with My Mister, Reply 1988, and some others. I hope that the payoff makes it worthwhile. A few years ago, I sat through 50 hours of You Are Too Much because I would not believe that Uhm Jung Hwa would associate herself with such garbage. There had to be something that would make it all worthwhile. I was wrong. I don't want to be disappointed again.
I just watched the first three episodes of Doctor Foster. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, of course, but I feel that The World Of The Married is far superior -- writing, acting, directing, eye-candy appeal. I wish that this version had fewer scenes of people walking and thinking, driving and thinking, drinking and thinking, etc., but that is a fairly common problem in Korean dramas. Using a server that offers fast-forwarding helps with that.
I was loving this until they began meshing "the script" with "the writing of the script." The scene about the massage chair is the most egregious example. The 10 that I was expecting to give ended up an 8.5. Still, those first ten or eleven episodes contained a lot of brilliance and brought me a lot of joy. Sorry that they ran out of steam.
I loved the three lead actresses, but was disappointed in how the interesting plots involving the subordinate characters just petered out. I am looking forward to see what Chun Woo Hee and Jeon Yeo Bin do in the future.
Finally finished. I have to give it a 9.0 due to one thing -- the pacing. I am sure that there was no film left on the cutting-room floor. I viewed 95% of it at 1.25x or 1.5x. At times I was has high as 4.0x. Definitely had me grinding my teeth (Get on with it! Get on with it!). Everything else was wonderful.
I have been watching Korean movies and dramas for years, but this was my first exposure to both Kim Hee Ae and Park Sun Young. I fell in love with both of them. I was stunned when I found how old Kim Hee Ae is. She must have found some magic elixir.
Now I have to find a comedy to help shake off some of the tension.
So disappointed. Not with the ending, but in general. It started so promisingly and episode 5 was simply great,…
I still have four episodes to go, so I may change my mind, but I agree with you that the first five were the 'cream of the crop,' so to speak. I will definitely be looking for a comedy after I finish this. Anything with some happy people in it.
