I watched this due to my one-sided love affair with Lee Elijah. Nothing deep here. Just a light and fluffy story about two people finding love in spite of earlier trauma in their lives. Lee Elijah reminds me so much of Han Hyo-joo. As others have noted, the title makes no sense. I think that they were just trying to pull in a few extra customers wanting to see how it compares to My Sassy Girl.
Kim Yoon Jin is one of the world's finest actresses, but the pace of this is so slow that I am not sure I will be able to watch to the end. Be sure to watch through a server that allows FF.
Just finished episode 10. How many times did Seo Do Won tell Han Seo Kyung to stay near him, only to have her off on her own in the very next scene? As far as the train goes, why couldn't the police order it not to leave the station? The writing is deteriorating rapidly. With only two more episodes, I guess I will finish, but I am not happy. I prefer dramas that leave me eager to watch the next episode, not dreading it.
I'm pretty sure they still made profits from streaming licenses and I noticed PPLs are huge brands. OCN in general…
Thanks to everyone who replied. While watching Train, I keep thinking that it would be better with stronger actors in the lead rolls. Yoon Shi Yoon and Kyung Soo Jin are okay, but I suppose that Gong Yoo and Jun Ji Hyun would have broken the bank. :))
An 8.6 average rating is not bad. It is not up there with Hospital Playlist or It's Okay To Not Be Okay, but it is higher than 95% (I'm guessing) of dramas. That still does not guarantee that you will like it. Your genre preferences may steer you elsewhere, but most people seem to like it. If nothing else, you will get to admire Lee Elijah. Those lips: I would love to spend a weekend with them.
I just finished episode 5 and thought that I would check the television ratings in Korea. In the four years that I have been addicted to Kdramas, I have never seen ratings so low. I hope that someone made a profit. Train certainly deserved better.
Let me get this straight -- in Korea, if someone stabs you in the back, he won't be prosecuted if you fight back? I must be misunderstanding something.
Hmmm. Well, I just loaded it again. I placed "Real" in the search engine, clicked on "search," and a list appeared. I clicked on the one from 2017, and (wala) there it was. Of course, you have to click on the line above "cast."
I did not understand this at all, ergo did not give a hoot about any of the characters. Kim Soo Hyun did a terrific job. Lots of beautiful women. Why don't I see any of them in my city?
I know that not many people will agree with me, but I wish that Lee Bo Young could teach her husband to act as well as she does. I think that he is one of the worst in Kdrama.
After finishing the final episode, I did something that I had not done before with a Kdrama -- I went back to the first episode and started again. I guess that I sort of did that following My Father Is Strange, but in that case I only re-watched the scenes with Lee Yoo Ri, to relive her amazing performance.
Two things I found attractive about Itaewon Class were the philosophy presented and the performance of Kim Da Mi. It was not that great of a surprise when we saw Jo Yi Seo reading Thus Spoke Zarathustra. I actually went online to see if screenwriter Kwang Jin had ever expressed an affinity for Friedrich Nietzsche, but did not find anything. The people in the drama who followed Saeroyi did so due to his character, not because he was going to make them rich. They wanted to learn from him. I believe that this had much to do with the high ratings of the drama. There is more there than just the revenge plot that others have written about here in the comments.
I can think of several actors whom I would have preferred see play the part of Saeroyi, other than Park Seo Joon. Nara is never going to be rated as one of the world's great actresses. However, Kim Da Mi showed me that her performance in The Witch was not a one-off. She will be around for a long time.
Oh Soo Ah didn't seem to offer him anything other than friendship. All those years together, and they never kissed.…
Every time that Nara appeared after the first few episodes, I wanted to get a pair of scissors and straighten her bangs. They were actually distracting me from the story. Oh, dear. Little things. : ))
I didn't ship him with none of them ._. I would get much happier if he didn't end up with anyone
Oh Soo Ah didn't seem to offer him anything other than friendship. All those years together, and they never kissed. She also did not seem to 'need' him the way that Jo Yu Seo did. From Yu Seo , Saeroyi gained her intelligence, humor, and heart.
I'm not sure that you had to hide this as a spoiler. I am simply following your lead.
I just finished episode 11. The last part of it was soul crushing. I have never been very impressed with Park Seo Joon as an actor, and he is just barely adequate here, but Kim Da Mi is amazing. Her acting-ability and obvious intelligence really shine.
