zijin ended up by marrying zhanji despite wanting to stay at the food bureau but zhanji's mum basically trapped her and left her no choice
zhanji's dad (the emperor) died and and zhanji became the new emperor
zhanji's mum (the empress dowager now) tried to put the emperor death on concubine gao (who had tried to poison her), but zijin choose to help concubine gao since she was innocent of the crime of killing the emperor and also because her son is still young (+ just lost his father as well) but concubine gao ended up by killing herself (not sure exactly why but i think empress dowager just pressed her into it)
consequently zijin got on the empress dowager bad side and didn't get promoted to royal concubine when zhanji became emperor
zijin didn't want to stay unfavored and powerless? but zhanji stayed obedient to his mum and even said that every concubines were at the same level (i guess to not have the empress dowager more upset against zijin) but zijin heard him say this and basically started a silent war against him to get what she wants (royal concubine title, respect, ect..)
after making him lose patience, zhanji ended up by making her the royal concubine
but then the empress started to be ill and yuehua complotted to have ziping and zijin accused of poisoning the empress, the empress knew the food bureau wasn't responsible for her illness but didn't say anything to hide the fact she's ill
zijin innocented herself easily and so tried to help ziping, but she didn't want the help of the emperor and hid the truth from him (that the empress was ill and ziping innocent), but he already knew the truth and was just testing her to see if she would seek his help or not
since she did not the emperor, yifan and ziping put on scene to make zijin ask for the emperor help and have the empress confess ziping is innocent (the emperor basically manipulated them both and played with their emotions to get what he wanted...)
but zijin still didn't beg for his help and just asked him to stop from harming innocent lives, so he decided to punish her and have her admit she was wrong to "lie to the emperor" when she never lied (and he's in reality upset she doesn't rely on him for anything) she just didn't tell him everything because she wanted to take care of this issue alone
(that's just my own assumption) i guess what he did shocked zijin a lot because she thought ziping was going to die, and from the shock lost her voice, zijin didn't admit anything and so stayed 3 months punished, and the emperor was still so mad at her for being so prideful that he didn't even notice she lost her voice for a long time now
they basically have been bickering a lot especially after she married him, she wants him to treat her right but there is always something that happens that makes him mad at her and they keep figthing

when we thought it finally stopped raining in episode 31 we got a storm in episode 32 😭

yesss this kind of plot was already done before but not with the villain as main character so i really can't wait!!!

i started watching the novel and i just made myself even more hyped ahaha

sounds so fun!!!!

both jeremy and jieqiong have such nice voices having to hear them subbed is just painful

i was anticipating the drama a lot but not sure why i just can't get into it for now? i'll still give a try to more episodes tho

today episode was so funny!!! the bathroom scene got me in tears

when i saw zhan ji asking love advice from yi fan i just knew this would not end well 🤣 to me yi fan perfectly knows how to deal with zi jin and he purposely told zhan ji the opposite of what he should do in order to break them apart even more 🤣 (since he’s so obviously jealous it’s almost absurd to me how zhan ji blindly followed his advice, i guess he’s really desperate and can’t think rationally hahaha)

and right! you can really tell because zhan ji is originally not the petty type (like despite his flaws he’s still a good person) but he becomes so childish with her, only her can make him lose patience and shaking him up that way which shows how much he loves her !!

their dynamics in royal feast is really different from the one they have in yanxi but i’m definitely enjoying both !!

you’re right and i share those thoughts about their relationship as well, when i said “stop being petty ” i wasn’t being serious haha, i totally get why zijin acts the way she does, this comment is just me being impatient and wanting some sweet moments between them since i’m still heartbroken from yanxi palace 🤣 but i agree with everything you said and i love how she purposely makes him crazy 😙

it's true i forgot about that, so i guess the empress is just trying to find an excuse to kill her then (still nice to see the others concubines trying to protect her), and to me concubine guo does look like she likes the king, contrary to the empress, and somehow i have a feeling she's actually the one behind his death

i've read around 70 chapters so far, it's quite complicated indeed but i really like it (even with the bad translations i found haha)

what concubine guo fears the most was to see the emperor die and having to be buried with him so for sure she didn't do it, and i don't think she would be acting like this if she was guilty since she's quite a prideful woman. also i'm quite happy not only zijin (it's not surprising since it's not the first time for her) but also the others concubines are trying to protect concubine guo since as they said it could also happen to them in the future, some women's solidarity in a harem, so refreshing!
