so did the emotion tree blossom because of bai shuo and fan yue's love, or because of bai shuo's blood? or because…
it did blossom, right? or is that different from activating the spirit through bai shuo's blood

When ML was on the hunt, he was talking to the father of the Princess. He described his ideal woman to be pretty…
AHHH wait ure right!! i completely forgot abt that, im sad that besides that he doesnt rlly show his feelings outwardly to FL much, but we have many many episodes so im excited to see their development <3

I disagree, I think JCY was already developing feelings for her. He just hasn't realized it yet.
i think they did start developing feelings around the same time but FL seems to be showing her feelings first, the way she looks at him and how she immediately told herself that he couldnt be a bad guy and how she trusted him and vowed she would protect his secret. but ML definitely harbors secret feelings for her i agree.

isnt the author of the book depicting tang era makeup and styling based on actual artifacts and documents that were uncovered? then the author doesnt own the makeup and accessory styles, it was whoever first handcrafted the artifact or makeup products, like i don't see why the author should be mad at this unless she drew the hairpin/makeup design herself from scratch? since the story is historical and would naturally need to be made to look historically accurate, i don't see the issue in this. if they did however reference this specific book, a credit denoting that would be nice

my homegirl shengyi the first one to notice the feelings FL is harboring 🙈 also looks like in this one FL seems to be showing her feelings first

Why did the husband suddenly liked the fl?
i think he's jealous at the resolve she has and the freedom she has gained away from his family. i think he's confusing this jealousy and wanting to literally "be her", as wanting to "be with her".

This is more grounded and sombre in tone, I didn't really enjoy the original. This is the second time that I like…
omgg ive been meaning to check out the kr version of hear me i didnt even know it was a remake! ill watch both for sure now! and my pfp is from the jdrama ishiko to haneo, i highly recommend it!! as well as small and mighty if you havent checked that drama out, it features the main cast from breeze by the sea in it and theyre a really funny duo in that one 🙈
On Breeze by the Sea Jan 13, 2025
this is a perfect example of a remake that takes the original media and makes something special and unique out of it. while the premise of top star yoobaek and breeze by the sea are the same, the two dramas can be considered completely stand-alone to each other because they are very very different among many aspects. each drama has it's own charm and both feel perfect in their own realms. i love both dramas dearly, but for different reasons among each one. top star yoobaek is a little more slapstick-y and comedy-based, with more tom and jerry behavior between the leads, while breeze by the sea takes a more laidback approach to the couple, and creates more of a calm slice of life environment for the story to unfold. both dramas have amazing chemistry between the main cp and tell heartfelt stories about the people living on the island.

On Goodbye, Dragon Inn Jan 13, 2025
i watched this movie a while ago and was like huh??? for most of it because i really jumped into it without any prior research, no reading the plot or anything. but then after i finished the movie, i did some research, and i found out the movie they were watching in the theater was called “dragon gate inn” from 1967. actors Shih Chun and Miao Tian from that 1967 film also star in goodbye dragon inn as the ghosts haunting the theater. this film not only pays an homage to Dragon Gate Inn, but also sends out a message about cherishing film as an art, honoring cultural centers like movie theaters. i do not think it is a coincidence that Goodbye Dragon Inn came out around the time when the first major advancements in digital technology were being produced, technologies gaining popularity that allowed people to start digitally streaming movies rather than watching them in a physical theater. even more ironically, actor Miao Tian passed away not even two years after filming Goodbye Dragon Inn, making this movie the last project in his career as an actor. thus, it truly became a goodbye to that one beloved piece of cinema history.

that said, i think this movie would’ve been really beautiful to watch for someone who watched dragon gate inn in the past and then twenty/thirty years later watched this one. for both the actors and viewers who grew up with the film, it must have been a way for them to say goodbye to their once golden days. truly a special feeling that i believe i might also experience one day.

after researching all of this, i gave this movie a rewatch, and the big message i grabbed from it is that life is a precious adventure, and that we should cherish it because everything comes to an end. lovely movie and lovely message that will stay with me for a while

Episode 5 has the best rivalry-to-bromance I've ever seen in ANY drama. Hilarious!!!
their "talk" at the end of ep 9... cus why were they about to kiss 😭😭😭🙈 the tension was tensioning
