Park So Jin is good at explaining the female perspective to the fathers. Hee Chul is funny as ever and has probably over dated. He comes off as a player, but he cheers on the women.
I am so happy Josh tried hard to lose the lazy and cheap image. His father-in-law to be was very protective of him. Mi Ja' love life is heart breaking at times. I hope she finds Mr. Right. I think she needs to date guys 40 years old or near that age. A mature man is ready to marry without all the games. The younger ones are too immature. They are early 30s and that age often looks for girls 5 or more younger than them. Mi Ja can't compete with that.
I was completely hypnotized at the beginning. The thrill was gone by the last chapters. Not my favorite ending. But, I look forward to see more from this set of cast members, the graphic artists, plus the music and set directors. 8.5/10
Fan Bing Bing has been missing from the public eye the past 2 months. The news articles say she is under house arrest for tax evasion where the rich hide their actual income by using double books/contracts. One of her alleged fake contract (also called yin yang contracts) they showed online was 1/5 of her actual earnings for a movie. She is getting a lot of hate because of it. She was chosen last year as the celebrity with the highest net worth ($100 mill). Now, Dilraba captured the top spot in 2018 followed by Luhan and Yang Mi. The article showing this was taken offline. But, of course google captures the cache image of the page. I doubt she will do jail time since the rich hiding money from the tax man is common all over the world especially in China. She will have to pay back taxes and fines once the government determines her actual earnings.
The author, Tang Jia San Shao, announced his wife just passed away from breast cancer (Sept. 16). Days before he posted in WeChat he wished he could time travel like in his novels. Now, people believe it’s because his wife nearing death was why he posted that statement. So sad. I will send out a prayer for them. Many online authors are not posting their novel chapters today out of respect to TJSS. Some online drama addicts are enraged. Obviously, they have not lost a loved one. This deserves much more views. One of the funniest comedy reality shows I have seen in a while that brings me to tears of joy and a little sadness. The impromptu humor can't be scripted. Seeing the fathers tear up when the daughters express pain to the dates and cameras touches the heart. Highly recommended. 9/10
I have watched this at least 3 times over the years and still find it excellent. The subs are cryptic on the sites. Bad subs in spots do not detract from this well told story. The acting is brilliant especially that of the leads and the family of the missing girl. There were no perfect, extremely beautiful faces in this move like those seen in TV dramas. This made the movie seem real and adds to the true story background. 9/10
"I feel like non-Asians will not appreciate this drama in quite the same manner as those whose ancestors were…
@Noemi, Preach! I fully agree. I feel it is a bit condescending to look down on viewers whose ancestors were not part of the depicted history to assume we would not appreciate the immensity of the Japanese impact back then as portrayed in this drama. I don't have ancestors to pass down stories of how bad it was. But, I am a byproduct of British, French, Dutch, Portuguese, and Spanish colonialism in the Americas. They make the Japanese look like amateurs with respect to destroying native people, occupying foreign lands, and enslavement.
