Well for that we need to wait till this drama complete its airing. Then we can decide which ep was worst. For…
Because since start their focus was never to tell a proper story.

For me if i have to ever fast forward dramas means that drama is not worth my time.

I will still give this drama a chance if any one person also come and tell me what exactly is the plot. But there is none. So when drama has put no effort in story i am not that free to invest my 50 min of life in this. I better have my beauty sleep.

Title Knot
Some dramas are admired because they had great plot and some because of how bad it is. Looks like knot fits on the second.

I'm on Ep 3: The person who did the GagaOOLala subtitles on all the Weibo posting is hilarious. Well done.
I am at downside here. Watching from YouTube so subs on weibo fans comments are not there.

Ep3, qing lang surely looks so happy, curious and excited otherwise why would he post this much on weibo? Looks like earlier whatever sadness and grief he had it has shifted it's anchor or better disappearing with the new adventurous life that simple Chang yang life brings.

These past 7 years I feel was hard on qing lang. U know a stage where one is working like a functioning human being but still having certain sort of emptiness of sense of joy in life. A stage where everything looks normal nothing excites u. Chang yang brings back those feelings to him.

Now that i realise it's been a long time even I felt that way about love. U know when sometimes one watch lots of dramas they start to forget the changes the feeling of love that was shown or felt in story. It's hard to notice and appreciate those minute but big changes that took place in character's life.

Again have lot to say about ep3. Will say in parts again.

But i don't understand aren't these court officials have one job to do? To serve the country and think for the betterment of people?

My issue is that if their treasury is getting depleted then imposing or rising tax do makes sense. But one needs to know where this money is going..where is ministry of revenue here?

Yes salt administration has corruption and was major in national economy pillar but how changing it from grain to silver makes any sense? How it will remove corruption? Won't it add more? Atleast grains are perishable and excess amount means u need to either use it or bring it into market so less corruption. Silver means one can ask for more silver for salt permits and silver are easy to store and are more prone to liquidation so corruption should rise right?

Then idk why in the world anyone do this? If exchanging silver for salt comes meaning salt prices will go up and it was already up and people were dying because of lack of salt. Salt is not just necessary for meat preservation it's a basic human need for iodine. How common folks will ever buy that?

That's the very bargaining chip Tingyun used in front of emperor to give introduction to zhao ling as he was helping common people with salt when he was salt smuggler and even in military he helped. Suddenly why this came idk?

That's true for he is grand secretariat. To stay neutral in politics is the tuffest job. It's more easy to take sides. So he is clever. Just that why zhao ling wanted him to be there in the ceremony is what I didn't understood. His status what it will do? Salt reform negotiation if that was objective idk what he could have said? I actually didn't understood. Maybe rewatching will work.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, always. What we take from any drama isn't necessarily what the director…
Strange right? Sometimes we forget that art was never meant to be objective in nature. That ok this happens because of this. But art is subjective. It's open to interpretation like abstract painting. One can see it as just visual arts or one can actually interpret something out of it or to so some it's just nothing and a BS.

Very rarely now a drama like Winter Sun comes which has so hidden sentences and dialogues and scenes. One can see and say it's garbage while other can see and declare it as s beautiful drama.

Looks like somewhere we have lost the true essence of art in form of story and drama.

This is beautiful. I have heard there is an expression in Urdu poetry where one of the highest forms of love is…
It's very depressing but i can share.

O crow, O crow,
Peck away at my flesh, piece by piece.
O crow, O crow,
Peck away at my flesh, piece by piece.
But don't eat my eyes,
Don't eat my eyes,
For they still hold the hope of seeing my beloved.

It's from 12th century sufi tradition where the more literal meaning is that lover is requesting crow to eat his flesh carefully. He is requesting crow to not eat his eyes as he still wants to see his beloved one more time in afterlife. This line/verse became popular through 2011 movie where ML was saying these lines as his lover FL was in coma and was dying and their story was more like swans. Context was ML was not able to take the pain of his lover going away and says this. And then like swans both died. So here separation is by death and reunion is in afterlife.

I would say this drama is subjective in taste. I mean all dramas are but here one can feel this more. And i completely…
l relationships need the build up and time for both people to understand the other person. Similarly strong feelings grow over time. ---- this. I will not even ques this. Because this is what I believe also. I think they would have shown how even after falling in love their understanding is growing. Even in twinflames connection this is imp. Because I am the person who don't even believe in love at first sight. I see Love at first sight as attraction and then getting to know each other or developing feelings over time. So here I get u. Did they not shown this in drama? Sorry in ep3.

We do have past and future lives, but there's a reason we don't remember them.- idk if chang yang remember his past or not. Not there yet. No comments. But hey who knows if he hasnt crossed forgotten river? 😂😂 Sorry my xianxia heart just perceived it like this.

Anyways. Even though we disagree with each other. It was a nice exchange. :)

The way people are hyping up this drama by saying its a 100/10 or 10/10 is weird asf. It feels like a fever dream…
I would say this drama is subjective in taste. I mean all dramas are but here one can feel this more. And i completely understand what u are saying. That's ur opinion i will not say or comment on that.

But one thing. Idk if u know but China strictly restrict showing past and present life. Reincarnation concept is strictly banned in China. Somehow idk how but they managed to show and give us this.

Chang yang being 18 and mature yes valid criticism. But somewhere i think that he was living in mountains and life sometimes make people mature based on experience and not with age. If one experience hardship in early life they are more matured than the other. Ofcourse it also depends on the person who is recieving that pain. And also i think in ep1 chang yang said mountains are the best teachers of life. And if u notice, he often speaks by giving example of nature and mountain incidents.

The entire plot of the past lives felt something only included to fast forward the relationship of the two leads or else there would be no basis for them to start one.--- this is one way to look at it. I have diff way of looking it.
For me this is a story of two souls to be reunited in mortal world or human world. The story starts with present life for me where chang yang sees qing lang and instantly felt connection without knowing why? No reason. But a strong connection. Then qing lang when came to Molie. He also opened his heart to chang yang very instantly. He almost very instantly felt that he can be emotionally vulnerable to him and he will be still safe. Romance is there but it happens too fast as if they are destined to fall in love for they are twinflames. They shared past life. Something ur body doesn't know why but ur soul understand. Then story explores other aspects. Can't comment more as still watching.

So long story short the basic idea is not two people falling in love but two souls finding each other and reunited. If u see in that way things make sense to me.

It felt like I was watching them act the entire time and the immersive feeling was missing, it was a good view but I wasn't emotionally connected to any character. -- valid point. Will say that we are not habituated of this kind of storytelling and that's why it's understandable that people are not feeling connected or get immersed. Because immersion elements are not present like in other dramas. Immersion happens when story has a pull of dramatic incident or certain encounter and that makes viewer think ok what next. They pull u in their world. Here, story never showed encounter to be dramatic or events to be dramatic it's like a flow. Like daily life. Nothing interesting but still lot going on. Plus given dialogues it's diff. It's crafted in a diff manner. To some it hit and for some it miss.

Anyways, am still watching so i will not comment anything. I just stated my view on points u laid out. U don't have to agree or disagree. I just wanted to say what I felt on those points. Good day.

Qing Lang says “Yunhu Mountain” into his phone using voice input. The navigation system answers in Chang Yang’s…
This is beautiful. I have heard there is an expression in Urdu poetry where one of the highest forms of love is ibadat( literal meaning -devotion) or worshipping or seeing the divine in one's beloved. Or when the love reach the stage where u see God in ur lover. That's what chang yang sees to qing lang.

This is also beautiful in the way the whole dialogue is written. On surface level it's just a line. But deep down it's a wordplay of declaration of love. Which made me appreciate Chinese culture. People preserved their folk stories and folksongs down to their generations and they use it actually in their life is amazing. Otherwise it's hard in modern era to preserve the lost or forgotten art. Something a tragedy I have witnessed a lot.

Thank you for sharing this.

Edit:- Now that I have seen my beloved,
how could I not rejoice?
Thank you for clarifying this otherwise I would have definitely thought as reunion after separation and not declaration of love. Idk why my idea of every line is so depressing. 😂 I blame all the movies which I have seen while growing up. And interesting is that this line reminds me of famous love song line passed down through generations in my country. But it was completely opposite in meaning.

I am in ep3 for past 2 days. 😑
Because too much info. I had to rewind and rewatch. It's taking 3 hours to watch a single ep.
