He's such a good actor! I knew it the first time I saw him on screen in Fight Break Sphere and in every drama I watched after that he continued to impress me both with his acting AND with his drama choices. Ashile Sun from TLB and Ling Buyi from LLTG are the characters I adore, and those two dramas are among my favourites. Right now I'm watching Cross Fire and I love it! I'm really excited for his future projects. It's not so often that I can find actors whom I love and whose works I enjoy so much.
I never thought I would be brought to tears by the drama about gaming. Both the emotional/tragic moments and the humor are so on point. I'm seriously impressed. The only issue I have so far are the bad English subs, but I'm willing to put myself through that because the drama is just too good.
Same. At one point he said to his father Asura Clan was destroyed because of his obsession but then everyone treats…
It's okay, I don't mind reading longer comments and other's thoughts. I also don't mind when someone mentions other dramas and makes comparisons. Yeah, DFQC is a good example of the type of character I like. He's not completely evil, but he's not completely good either. It makes him more human.
As for their fathers/fatherly figures. Actually, in most dramas I watch (be it Korean or Chinese) I end up hating parents and being unsatisfied with how tolerant and obedient their children are. I'm aware it's just a cultural thing, but the least they could do is secretly hold a grudge 🤣

Yeah, I understood all of it but I still find HE incredibly hypocritical. Killing people for falling in love is no better than what HQ did. In fact, the whole heavenly realm made me angry LOL. I'm a type of person who holds grudges so I like my characters a bit more vengeful and less holy. YY was just too tolerant and forgiving for my personal taste.
I just finished rewatching this and it's as good as the first time. Such a wholesome story with great characters and beautiful relationships.
One thing I want to point out is how good character development here is. Not only when it comes to Changge, but also supporting characters like Sheer, Hao Du & his father, Le Yan and so many others. I love how layered all of these characters were. All in all, The Long Ballad is one of my favourite dramas & I would recommend it to everyone.
So you're telling me YY was born from a powerful Asura and Heavenly Official and you didn't let him use the Asura…
Same. At one point he said to his father Asura Clan was destroyed because of his obsession but then everyone treats his bloodline as a curse, like that blood alone makes you evil and crazy. And it also pissed me off how he never blamed Emperor for drilling into his head that he's a sinner just for being born. Lol bye. I wanted the old man to stay dead after everything 😂
Xuan Ye showed up in 2-3 episodes and won over my heart. Ying Yuan is nice and all but my inclination towards morally corrupted but still redeemable characters is still as strong as ever.
Now, I like the relationship between Ying Yuan and Yan Dan and how they both sacrificed themselves for each other and tried to balance their love with their responsibilities. If I were to rate only their love story it would probably be higher, but I'm giving this 7.5 because there were some things I didn't like and they affected my overall enjoyment.
I also have to give them kudos for costumes. They are beautiful!
Fairy Ying Deng is the embodiment of secondhand embarrassment. She's more pathetic than evil, but still annoying af. She's been rejected so many times and she still continues doing stupid shit. I hate characters who have no dignity whatsoever.
Why does Yu Mo need to hide the fact that he's a member of Nine Fins Clan? From what I understood they were the good guys so why would it be a problem for him?
Yeah I know I'm lazy for asking this but as someone who is a fan of the novels but hasn't watched the drama, can…
I never finished the novel, but WWX in the live adaptation doesn't control corpses and in general there are no corpses and similar creatures that were mentioned in the novel (if that's what you mean by gore). He controls the resentful energy which is portrayed as black smokey thing that floats around him. As for the romance, there is no juicy content from the novel, but I think it's pretty obvious they love each other. You can see it as platonic or romantic love, but loving gazes and physical touches are there and these actors successfully managed to portray the love LWJ and WWX have for each other.
I finally finished it. Truth be told, I have mixed feelings. I like fantasy so the overall theme was interesting, but it dragged on and on and most of the time nothing interesting was happening and characters spent so much time just talking and sitting around. It was really tedious. 20 episodes was too much & they were also too long.
When it was good, it was good tho. The action/fighting scenes were amazing, as well as special effects. I also like the main leads and their relationship. I'll watch the second season because I want to know what happens next, but this one could've been much better in my opinion.
I'm only on episode 11 but I have to express my love for Dylan Wang's acting. Truth be told, one of the main reasons why I started this drama is his beautiful face (lol, sue me, I love handsome men in ancient costumes) but I didn't know he was such a good actor. The difference in his demeanour when he plays the fairy in DFQC's body is hilarious, and his usual aloof behaviour is done so well. The story is also much better than I thought it would be. Really, aside from questionable CGI which is a norm in this genre, I love everything about this drama. I'm glad I randomly picked it on a whim.
I can't wait to watch your upcoming dramas!

Thank you for making me laugh. I can understand the sentiment!
