The fact that you don't know he takes challenging projects doesn't mean he doesn't take them. He's acting in a 8 hours long theater play across the country that's anything but fluffy (and is getting praised left and right for his performance), and also has two other unaired dramas that aren't xianxia. Also, saying something isn't challenging because it's a xianxia romance is a bit ignorant, if you ask me :)

Not sure about the guys but my aunt who is 60+ watched it and didn't notice BL elements and was even surprised when I told her about the original novel. I guess it all depends on the person who is watching.

It took me more than a month to get past first 4 episodes but after that I finished the rest in 3-4 days. It really gets so much better after the first few episodes which are very confusing (to me at least).

Agree, kind of! The acting and the script of this drama are unparalleled. It's really one of the best.

Nirvana in Fire and The Untamed are my two favorite dramas but they are very different. If you do decide to watch TU don't expect to see something similar to this. You can easily see the relationship between the MLs as bromance/friendship, but before everything else it's a story about Wei Wuxian and his sacrifices that led to his fall from grace. His relationship with other ML is beautiful and inspiring but in the drama adaptation it's more platonic love than BL. Sorry, just had to write this. I see a lot of guys reluctant to give TU a chance because of BL aspect when the story has so much more to offer.

I don't know if it's just me but I've watched 10 episodes and this is hella boring. I don't want to drop it because people say it has a good bromance but so far I haven't seen it. I hope it gets better later on.

He's part of the love triangle with the main leads and while he doesn't get the FL he does get a happy ending with another character. Ji Chong is a really likable characters so if you like Xiao Zhan I would suggest watching it.

It's kinda draggy in the middle but I like the main leads and characters aren't annoying so that's a plus.

Oh, Just be Station! I watch them regularly to keep myself updated. It's a great channel for international fans who can't keep up with what's happening on Weibo (or in C-Ent in general) but want to be informed nevertheless.

I'm happy with the trailer! It's visually very pleasing and Xiao Zhan both looks and sounds amazing, his dubbing improved a lot. The angst is to my taste as well. I can't wait to watch this! :D

I both agree and disagree. I don't really enjoy watching slice of life dramas but I would also like to see him in more 'serious' roles, especially in historical production or something like Flower of Evil (thriller, psychological, crime). I was looking forward to AT for that reason but my enthusiasm evaporated.
I love fantasy combined with ancient costumes and history so I'll always be happy when he appears in xianxia/wuxia but I'm also looking forward to the more realistic roles he'll take in the future. Seeing how he's serious about acting and improving I'm sure there will be more roles like that after Yu Gu Yao.

They don't really get to be lovers. They become aware of their feeling by the last episode but nothing happens between them, maybe in the next season. They're always together throughout the drama so you could say there are some romantic undertones tho, but very light.

Blaming his fandom is easy, doing some research in order to understand the whole situation is harder. I've noticed many people don't even know how things in C-ent function (with data and different types of rankings) but they want to scold or "teach" his fans how to support him. It would be funny if it wasn't so irritating.

I'll personally wait to see how the situation unfolds. If it stays like this I won't be giving iQiyi any money or heat because I can't bring myself to do that. What they've done is really despicable and it was unnecessary. I'll watch the drama (ofc) and promote Xiao Zhan/Gu Yiye but I'll ignore their official accounts/app.
If XZ Studio decides to *actively* promote AT, like they did with Douluo Continent, I'll probably change my opinion and give in but for now I'm still very much resentful, lol.

Hm, I can't exactly relate because I was hooked from the beginning but episode 16 (from what I remember) is where it started to get really interesting for me. If you like Wei Wuxian you can look forward to his character development in the future!
